Fun Fact: The Blues Brothers was the most expensive comedy ever filmed when it was released. It has been eclipsed several times since then but held that distinction for several years. A couple of notable roles worth mentioning was Frank Oz, the muppeteer who brought Yoda to the screen was the prison release officer at the beginning. The tax clerk at the end who collected the money and stamped the receipt was famed movie director Steven Spielberg. It was a box office hit when released, and is now considered to be a modern classic. The caliber of musical talent that collaborated on the making of this film was unprecedented and has still never been duplicated.

This movie has SO MANY INCREDIBLE stars, especially from the blues world, but also including R&B and jazz. This was an incredible movie, and so much fun. Some of the members of the band include Stax Records greats Steve Cropper (guitar) and Duck Dunn (bass,) who were probably best known as members of Booker T & the MGs. Matt "Guitar" Murphy is best known for his work with Memphis Slim and Howlin' Wolf. "Blue Lou" Marini is a long time session player, and long time member of the SNL Orchestra. He's best known for his appearance on SNL as a sax-playing mummy during Steve Martin's song "King Tut." Yes!!! You were on a mission from God!! 😎 I am SO happy that you watched this absolute classic, one of my all-time favorite movies!! Besides being a phenomenal movie, it has what I believe is the best movie soundtrack ever. Dan Aykroyd has always been a huge blues fan, and he assembled an incredible group of musicians, from the band to the guest stars. I was in a Blues Brothers band in college (I was Elwood, my friend Steve was Jake), and we tried to learn all of Aykroyd and Belushi's dance moves. I will never get tired of watching this gem!! Oh, and Asia, every time you say "You are lying!" brings me great joy. 😊 Thanks for continuing to be my favorite reactor couple!!

" We're on a mission from God....", such a great line, many in this film. Great music and message, "Do you see the light...what light😅"

"Animal House" (1979) should be done right after (or right before) this movie, but nobody has done it yet.

Fantastic reaction, guys. As always, I wish I could've seen this in the same theater with you two. Times have changed a lot since _The Blues Brothers_ was released. In 1980, disco was thriving and R&B and blues were considered dead by the recording industry. Ray Charles was doing well but that was recording country western. MCA Universal refused to release the soundtrack because they said that nobody but old Black people would buy it. John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd were ahead of the curve rediscovering all these wonderful artists from the '60s and thanks to this movie, James Brown and Aretha and John Lee Hooker all had a major renaissance.

It was because of John Lee in this movie that really got me interested in blues. LOVE that voice of his.

You should research the members of the band. They were all talented musicians. Great movie, excellent soundtrack!! I was 14 when this came out, it opened me up to so much different music.
