    'We'll be as we are, when all the fools who doubt us fade away...'
    That's a more meaningful and affecting lyric than 90% of today's bands could manage throughout their entire career. Boots we salute you!

      "Has"

    • @mhoppy6639
      @mhoppy6639 Год назад

      Yes, “has”. There’s still time for a movie to pick one or two of their wonderful songs from their extensive and excellent back catalogue and thanks to a Hollywood projector he might just get the exposure he deserves finally.
      It’s criminal that while Spandau Ballet, Bow wow wow and other assorted crap was floating around they just couldn’t catch a break.
      Great great hooks great melodies songs he’ll they had it all except for a coherent image and McNabs occasional ally uncertain dress sense although his gear usually looked good when my mates copied him😂 I was always too wee to carry off long coats and biker jackets. Never got on with the string tie though Ian!
      Anyway, long live Ian Mcnabb and let’s remember those halcyon days!

    I remember watching this during this actual first broadcast - probably late summer of ‘84. I was 16, and young as I was, I knew I was watching a band of incredible talent and energy. And now here we all are, folks, middle bloody aged. Aghh!

    Amen to that - watching Chris Sharrock was one of the joys of seeing them live. That, and that beautiful Moog string synth sound... I must have seen them live about 30 times back in the 80's. And it's been years since I've heard this, yet I still know every single word.......

    Remember seeing this lineup on two occasions in the student union at Queens in Belfast in the mid 80's......absolutely fantastic. Seen a lot of bands, some really big name bands, but a lot of them didnt come close to those 2 gigs in Belfast. Still go to see Ian when he's up this way. I now live in York. 😁

    loved this when it came out in 85 its my favourite song of all time. The lad is still at it writing quality stuff and gigging. Only the Nabbster would get away with writing a song whose 1st 2 lines rhyme "you" with "you" lol

    Agrees with Loomjoove, saw these guys at least 10 times in the 80's, and every show was an Elevated Party, and man, COULD Ian play back then!!!!. still have Black and White photos i took during an 80s gig in Blackburn Polytech....... Never understood why the Icicles were not huge, they could write pop songs (and did!) that where sooo catchy and tuneful, as well as rock the house down with the best of em. Cudo's to Ian for not selling out and doing what he dreamed of!.

    first time i heard this song and i have to admit that was a damn good song the icicle works has a knack for really making you feel things in there work unlike the pure crap that is on the air today it really is a shame to see what radio has come to today people can call it what they will but it is not freakin music it is just cursing threats and violence on todays radio i wish i was old enough to understand the music in the 80s

  • @SweetSweetWaldo

    The drummer is Chris Sharrock. The first album is one of my favorites of all time. Sharrock's creative drum work was essential to it. The first album was more dreamy and psychedelic. Then they turned into a standard rock band with a few good songs here and there. Understanding Jane is one of them. I don't like the video. Cognitive dissonance--I can't reconcile beach party with Icicle Works.

    Justin you hit it on the head.The only music genres that has kept quility are the bands from the 80's still writing. And Metal(as a whole). The "top 40" is absolute GARBAGE with almost no exception.The over produced crap is horrible.If you dont believe it go see some of the current acts live, its like a greek tragedy.
