    I bought a power amp with volume bass mid and treble controls. So much better than plugging into an fx return on an amp.. Harley Benton 100 power amp (into a 2x12 Celestion 80/70 cab) Affordable price and sounds great...

    Great video - just for info, unless someone has already identified this, but you can turn off the AMP and CAB options in the GP-200 so that you can plug it straight into the amp itself rather than into the amp's return. It's in the manual, page 19. Hope this helps!

      The problem is this turns off Amp simulation for all outputs. You may want to use an Amp sim for recording or front of house.

    Thank you. That's the subject I am specifically interested in and I will think twice before bying Valeton. As a musician, I often play live, so having this option of using a separate amp output while xlr's go to front of desk is critical for me. Usially not every amp available on stage has an fx return.

      Good point, but you have to remember the price point of this thing, it's punching way above its weight. My buddy just picked one up as a backup unit to his HeadRush, some ways he loses almost nothing, just a few glitches that if software fixes, will make it virtually the same, in terms of usability. The HeadRush costs double.

    I watched your video again, as now I have ordered one of these units and even better the second time around. There's quite a bit fuller sound when we hear the two signals (amp and direct signal) together.
    I have heard videos with just the direct signal (left and right) recorded direct and this unit for the money sounds really good.
    I do think also you bring up very valid points how Valeton could improve this unit with a few firmware tweaks. Hope they're listening to your advice...I agree.

    The latest version of my GP-100 (v1.3.2) in settings, there is the option to tuurn on/off the cab for L or for R. I guess this is what you mentioned. So, I guess it is possible to use the cab from the venue and the full patch form the PA.

    Sooo actualy you can use every output with or without amp cab so. You can plug Valeton into cab/amp fx loop return without cab sim and second output into mixer with cab sim. You hace those options in global setting and even more after pluging into computer so this device is perfect 😅😅😅

    Great video thanks.
    Is it possible to place the fx loop send in the chain before the amp/cab emulation as a signal feed to a combo input, and loop straight back into the return (e.g. with a Y splitter cable), then use the main out (post amp/cab emulation) to send to the desk for FOH? Not sure I worded that well!

  • @fractionjackson
    @fractionjackson Год назад

    I watched your video as I was trying to work out how to get a good level into a combo amp. I realised that I was always going to have the 'double' amplified problem as my combi amp would always be adding so much on top of what is coming from the valeton. Of course you can turn off the amp and cab modelling, but I wanted to hear it. Having tried both balanced and unbalanced it was still way way too loud. My amp does not have separate input for return and send. Just the standard input. So... I started looking at the send and return paramaters I settings, and realised that you can move the send from it's default position near the start of the signal chain, to the end. Meaning that instead of the send being a dry signal, it can be a wet signal with it's own output level. (send level) so using the send output of valeton set to level 3/100 I can send the fully wet signal to my combi amp input at a useable level. Presumably I've made some unforgiveable errors in dojng this, but sounds OK! 😂

      Dude, I was coming here to post this same setup (I think?). I always played pedals through an amp - which doesn’t have an FX loop. Using the GP200 I wanted to go XLR out to front of house but ALSO play through my amp. Problem is, amp/cab models suck in front of the amp. So I moved amp and cab blocks to the end, and fx loop block right before. So my fx send is sending all the pedal chain without the amp/cab sim, and the main out is including the amp/cab sim to the sound guy. Anyone else doing this? Have yet to test it live, but at home the sounds from the amp and the XLR main out (tested via a usb interface and in-ears) sound good.

    Is it possible to set the 'no cab mode' independently for each output..?
    The global setting seems to apply whichever option you choose to all outputs from what I can see.
    I'd like to run the balanced XLR's (both L &R) into my mixer/studio monitors with the cab sim 'on', then I'd like to take the Unbalanced 'L' channel only into a clean power amp (Harley Benton GPA-100) with the cab sim set to'off' as this will be running into 2 x12 Celestion loaded speaker cab...
    so in a nutshell I want cab sim 'on' for the XLR and cab sim 'off' for the unbalanced... but I can't seem to find this function in the desktop software..?

      Right, go into a Headrush FRFR 1x12 or PA…. But if you wanna have a lot of fun with it, there’s a new FRFR speaker. It is called the Spark live. It’s a tad more expensive. Go check it out on a RUclips review. The difference here is it is coiled for voice if you turn this speaker on its side, it knows, and the coils open up for vocal Recreation there’s a lot of ins and outs on the back of it and it’s got a lot of its own effects useful attacks. The delay in the Reverb is off the hook.😊 so with your problem now you just wanna turn off the cab emulation in global effect and go into your return on the back of your cab and that’ll take care of all that unwanted noise that you’re hearing and when you can afford to get an FRFR it is my suggestionto get one

    • @sonofdirt

      It doesn't really matter. XLR/balanced is just better for long cable runs, it reduces noise. Unbalanced is fine to anything just prefer balanced when you can. They both carry the same audio signal so don't worry about doing anything wrong. (Just don't send phantom power to the XLR lol)

      @BLU3Fi5H Год назад +3

      @@KrachWerke in case anyone else has this issue with theirs. There are 2 common issues people seem to have with these pedals actually.
      1. Mix, gain, volume, etc maxing out is often caused by setting a parameter for expression pedal 2, but not having it plugged in. It remembers the maximum setting for the expression pedal and restores it to that level when you switch back to that patch.
      2. No sound on a downloaded patch. In most cases this is caused by leaving the effects loop setting on series. Switching to parallel should fix this issue.
      I was ready to give up on my pedal after I kept running into issues like these, but they are pretty easy to fix, simply by disabling the second expression pedal within the patch or switching to parallel on the effects loop.
      Maybe I'll make a quick video allowing how to fix these issues, in case anyone out there might not be familiar with the settings.
