The haters don't care, ignorance and hate are opposite sides of the same coin, when we live in an age where one thinks an athlete loses their greatness because they lose a race, they have no idea of the meaning of win to loses ratios when in the end you win more than you lost. 10 gold metals mean nothing if you won 35 races and lost 75

If an excuse is going to be given for Noah not winning the 200M at the Olympics I might as well throw in the fact that Kishane suffered a hamstring injury during the semi finals and his physio had to put in some intense work just for him to show up for the finals but he did not use it as an excuse for not winning, even though it clearly affected his performance. That's the reason why he never ran in any race after the Olympics even though he remained in Europe hoping for a chance to compete if the injury got better. Clearly it didn't, unfortunately.

Last year at the World Championships, Noah ran 9.83 for a new 100m PB with no wind assistance. In the 200m, he ran 19.51 into a -0.2 headwind.
This year before the 200m Olympic Rounds, he improved his 60m, 150m & 100m PBs. Plus, Lyles ran 19.53 at US Trials for a 200m WL at that time, not peaking yet.
Personally, based on his overall improvements this year in his running and fitness in general, I definitely think he could have run someway between 19.28-19.40 at the Olympics without Covid.

He has been talking about breaking Bolt’s record in the 200m for some time and that is what I believe he was shooting for in this 200M final. If he was healthy I think he breaks his PB of 19.31. Track and field is getting shit on compared to other sports and how much ridiculous money they are now getting paid as just collegiate athletes, who won't even make it as semi pros out of college with most being busts long term. When you look at the analytics , noah and all other top track and field athletes for the most part that are fastest in the world or close to that are elite are making less than guys getting multi million dollar deals right out of high-school commiting to certain colleges in the U.S.A. and it's insane and embarrassing. It is a good move to get a television sponsor up front for the exposure it gives, and also get an ongoing commitment to televise it in some format in future years beyond 2025. I'm just hoping its not behind some expensive paywall because I'm not interested in yet ANOTHER fee-per-view channel or streaming service.

Track and Field's biggest hindrance to popularity is that it isn't a team sport. All the most popular sports in the world are team sports such as; football, soccer, cricket, and basketball. The reason these sports are so popular is because people root for the organizations as well as the athletes, athletes come and go but the team remains. These sports also have the advantage of the same teams playing in the same location yearly. Where as in track you have to keep up with whose competing, where the competitions are, and hope your favorite athlete makes it to the televised portion of the event.

    • @brighton1880
      @brighton1880 Месяц назад

He wasn't sick, he neglected the 200m and focused on the 100m, because he thought 200m no one can beat him, if you look at his races, other than the US Olympic trials, he ran 200m only once this year. All his other races were 60m and the 100m. He did not build enough strength for the 200m. Whereas Tebogo this year ran 300m ( setting WR) and 400m, including the 4 x 400m relays and his times were highly impressive. For the 200m final, if you watch the race, Noah ran well his curve, but Tebogo was strong and was able to maintain his speed and form, you don't see him straining or laboring when reaching the finish line, nor does he lean, in fact you see him starting to celebrate before crossing the line. He could have gone sub 19:40.
Anyways, there was no way Noah was winning that race. More proof of that is what happened the following day, with the 4 x 400m where ran the fastest leg and in the final where he ran the second fastest split in history despite him never competing in any major event in 400m.
Its not easy to accept defeat, especially for someone like Noah and in the event he has dominated for years, but had neglected because he focused his energy on winning the 100m because as he likes to say, 200m is his baby, and can win it in his sleep. So there has to be a reason, right, like covid that even his teammates knew nothing about, And, by competing with covid, he was literally endangering other athletes who were yet to compete in other races, i mean he literally hugged Tebogo

And the 'test' kits say not to be used a diagnostic, which is 'allowed' to be ignored b/c of emergency (and the emergency is b/s of PCR positives.... not sure if anyone is getting that circular reference). There are more fabulous details to it, and keep in mind various fruits and animals 'tested' positive.

That being said, I believe Noah Lyles if everything had gone in his favor health wise would be running the 200m sub 19.5. Would it be possible for him to run 19.3ish? Absolutely, but just going off the stats of his workload when he's needed to compete in both 100 and 200, he actually has never been able to run sub 19.5. But if he was in 9.7 shape for the 100, I think you would have seen his best time in the 200 for when he was competing in both with heats and semi finals. To that point, his best times would be 19.52 and 19.53 (Budapest '23 and Eugene '24).

If Sydney can run the 400m hurdles faster than anyone, there's not much others can do about it. It's not like basketball where good teamwork could block her. Whether she wins or loses is entirely up to her. The real competition is during training not a the race itself.

If Noah was fully healthy, he would have firstly ran the 100m faster, because he potentially already had covid by then. I guess his 200m time would have been 19.3. Because he was in great shape (He ran a new 100m PB). Covid really affects performance by alot. As someone with asthma who runs track, when you get diagnosed with a lung disease like covid, you feel weak as hell. (More so than normal people)

I wonder how high he would have leapt if he was not diagnosed with Covid?

No way Lyles runs over 19.45 if healthy. I can't say he wins, but it would have been so fun to watch

No way? He's only run under that once in his career and that was when he was focussed 100% on the 200.

The scary thing about Noah 2024 200m race is how he purposely got faster for the 60m/100m(broke Pb 2x) to potentially break 19.19 .. Sucks he got sick but I'm calling it now, as long as he's healthy he will go unbeaten in the 200m till next Olympics👌

It's very possible, I definitely could see it. What's crazy is since Lyles' 200m loss at the Paris Olympics, I've seen some people declare Noah will never win another major 200m World or Olympic title and I think it's way too soon to write off Noah when he got sick at the wrong time and place. I definitely think Noah has got a lot more to give in the 200m and getting another World title or two at least.

And 1 most important thing, the camera angle must be more closer.
