Currently doing my dissertation on the Female Athlete Triad and and Lauren talking about training and her cycle is so good! It’s my aim to raise awareness about how training and the menstrual cycle can have such negative impacts on performance. This content is so great to raise this awareness Love You All ❤️
@@bethanyrachel63 of course. Basically there has been an abundance of research that has taken place amongst young athletes that has resulted in a unique triad of conditions that occur in females; namely the female athlete triad. In the latter terms, the triad consists of depleted energy availability, the absence of a period (Amenorrhea) and low bone density which are all interrelated as a consequence of extensive physical activity/ sports. Certain sports are positively correlated such as sports that require specific weights/ physique. The consequences are detrimental to female health as energy availability is the biggest impact of the triad. Awareness surrounding this in the UK is VERY low and is resulting in females developing early osteoporosis/ infertility issues due to their extensive training schedules in sports. Recent literature has been developed to incorporate RED-S ( a similar condition inclusive of males). It’s all very interesting. Those terms would give you so much information on it if you wanted to find out more ! So yes! Thankyou Lauren for mentioning your cycle on this platform ! It could really begin a process to raise this awareness for young female athletes 😚
Thank you gals for this video. I am have a lot more friends that are male than female. Since I was younger at school I was more of tomboy & would find it difficult making friends with girls & found that the female friends that I did have were very similar to me. I even had a class at school where I was the only girl in it for a large portion of the school year & I used to be the only girl who wanted to play rugby so I used to play on the boys team. I found this video refreshing where it was just a girls one with a Q&A with female oriented questions. It would be cool to have some more videos like this one, but not necessarily all the time. Maybe something like a girly catch up video every few months where you have a bit of a Q&A from us but also having a chat between you gals about stuff that you wouldn’t necessarily talk about with the guys.
Advice for working out from someone who hates working out - Just have a goal of stopping by the gym every day and swiping your badge in. You don't have to actually DO anything, you just have to make the time each day to stop by. Pretty soon you find you're doing a lap around the track, stopping to play with the weights, stop in for that zumba class... but 90% is just showing up. So my "workout routine goal" is just badge in to the gym every day.
I really enjoyed this vlog Joanna. I do enjoy your banter with ‘the boys’ but this makes a lovely change to hear stuff us girls can relate to x 💕. Just work x
I loved this! Love a bit of girl talk and it was super interesting too. Absolutely loving Lauren being on more videos, I love her attitude to life and how she carries herself! Also loving hearing more from Sammie again too 😊 xx

Advice from a 46 year old who didn't discover (mirena) IUD until I was 40 - less hormonal ups and downs, it stops the monthly visits from Aunt Flo, just as effective as pill without all the side-effects (pill cost me my gallbladder at 18). Wish I knew about it when I was young.
I'd check with your OB using the Mirena I'm 49 just had a hysterectomy but before that had the Mirena, was with a different OB , the new one I changed to was very concerned because it's not advisable for women over 40.
@@nillaskat1 I can't find any information that says this. Many say they help with premeno symptoms, etc. I've just been keeping on without having to deal with Aunt Flo and have been happy to do so. Most talk about their contraceptive value, which I don't need as I had a tubal when I was 28. This was purely to stop the "monthly misery" and it seems to have helped with the hormonal ups and downs significantly. (I still get irritated once in a while and have to think about why that is, and it occurs to me it must be "that time" but it's only brief and is no longer the harbinger of a week of misery)
@@thepeanutgallery1699 A lot of Doctor's won't give that to young girls , same with the Depo-shot as it can cause bone loss, but I got it because my periods sometimes lasted 2 weeks with spotting in between and then I got diabetes while pregnant (which means you WILL get diabetes later in life) so for me it was essential not to have more kids.
Do they not have the kind of birth control pill in the UK that you only get your period every three months? There is no medical reason to need to get your period every month unless you are trying to have a baby. The period you get when you are on the pill isn't a real period anyway. It is safe to just keep taking the pill continuously or other kinds of hormonal birth control. Just putting it out there in case you were not aware especially if it takes a toll on training, mood, sleep etc. :). Mum advice over...continue on your way ;)
Ye true I wish I had that or just one day on because I'm doing sport (boxing) and I want to go to the Olympics and I have to sort my period out makes me very sleepy and I really struggle with training or doing anything , I'm gonna look into it and see
Loved this! So cool to get to know Lauren and Sammie more. One thing I would really really appreciate (for vids on everyone's channels) is for there to be less gum chewing - the sound and sight of it is so incredibly distracting, I sometimes have to just stop watching. Which is sad because you all have such great content! Anyway keep up the great work:)
Periods are natural, not unhygienic, and not disgusting. This is the same as implying other bodily functions are disgusting, which are also completely natural. It's quite shocking how many people still have such outdated and frankly rude opinions about feminine health.

Great Vlog. I'm watching in 2024.
I agree that boys are easier to hang around a lot of the times. I have 3 older brothers and growing up was surrounded by them and their friends.
