    Dumbo proof! Can't beat that! Actually I was very impressed with the auto-deploy string invention.
    The anchoring method (to the seat belt bolt) is an excellent solution. I got lots of good ideas from this. Excellent build.

      toronado455 Had to tie my driver's side door shut last night with a ratcheting strap, to the driver's seat anchor. Door latch was frozen! Got the idea from this video 😉

    Great job. Love that bed. I saved it to make a bed myself someday. The propping board in the middle is genius. Separating the front and back storage is so smart.

    I've watched dozens and dozens of videos over the past 2 years on minivan camper modifications and have learned a lot but have rarely commented on any of them. This bed frame really impressed me. I watched another video of yours first and you mentioned that your Pops helped you build this. I'm not full time on the road yet but I will be soon. I currently have a camping cot but now that I've seen your set up, I'm considering something at least similar to it. Thanks for taking time to share this and give my thanks to your Pops for the design and Happy Fathers Day.

    Olivia, Awesome video and kudos to you for your sense of adventure! I do have a question. You explained quite well how you have the rear end anchored in case you have to brake suddenly but I didn't see the same thing on the front end. Great idea on the triangular flaps! I would also install a 2x4 (toe kick) at the base of the front 2x4 legs to keep them at the proper width and to not jump and skip over those chair hooks in the floor. That would also give you something to anchor the front end to the chair hooks. Great job on the video!!! Hey afterthought...as you raise that front part with the flaps you could hook up the same kind of string mechanism to pull forward whatever you have in storage underneath so that you don't have to crawl under there. Just a thought. LOVE your video!!! I will definitely copy this!!!

    Well made make. Woden boxes with seat cushions that flip over that way the boxes are waterproof. Can be moved inside or outside into a tent. You could make a Chuck wagon box that can sit in the van or moved into a tent. A tent shower can be used for shower portable toilet and changing clothes while building. Folding table for field kitchen. In campground they have a table to work from but cost is to high today. In the West plenty federal land.

    What’s not broached is full time van living, your design approach left no room for rain days, it forces you to lie prone in bed if your in camping mode during all day rain, the better approach would be a side , single bed (24” that pulls out to 48”)) that slides into itself, (made with 1”x2” slats) leaving cabinets, storage & small sink opposite side with access underneath bed for more inside accessible storage containers, you can get by with the present setup for weekend camping but living in it full time you have to allow for cooking & access to everything inside or just for just waiting out the rain days. If your desert or mountain remote boondocking during an all day rain there’s no getting out of your van & you have to deal with 80-90% humidity all day ( run fans?, better have a generator handy cause van battery won’t last long, can’t run ac all day) In the city trying to stealth camp, you have to abandon the van for a library, movie , restaurant, etc.in the summer heat, & at night you can’t run a generator bc it targets you as sleeping in your van which will get you a midnight knock on you window or thieves will note your where a-bouts & rip you off when you leave your rig, It’s just a few things to rethink, course if your at 10k feet summers a breeze however winter’s a bear! Shalom!

    • @oliviachirico6458
      @oliviachirico6458  4 года назад +1

      Dan Roy On rainy days I set up my awning to protect us from the rain and or I sit on the bed in the back of the van or just lay on the bed with the trunk open and read a book! This is just my design that works amazing for me! You can make your vehicle how ever you want it. I have had no problems with humidity in the van. I just have the windows open a bit and I have a portable fan that runs great. There is no need for a generator. That’s just ridiculous. You really don’t feel the humidity when you get into bed at night or at least I don’t. And as for cooking on rainy days that is no problem at all! Since my kitchen is in the back of the van I just open my hatch and cook easy peasy the hatch protects my from the rain. I would never recommend a build the has the kitchen inside meaning that you would be cooking inside your van because then your van is just going to stink because of the odors from cooking.
      SO like I said this is my build it works amazing for me. I have NO problems with rain at all. And as far as relaxing in the van on a rainy day I either lay in bed with a book or sit on my bed with the hatch open and enjoy the rain while I’m reading. I have had NO need for a generator or AC that’s just unnecessary. And their is a thing called a rain jacket!!! So I often put that on and go explore the woods when it’s raining. The rain has never stopped me from doing anything like cooking or sleeping. You just can’t be a baby about it if you live in a van then you gotta deal with the days with humidity which really arnt bad at all. I’m used to humidity so it’s really not that bad. And having an awning is definitely a great thing to have it gives you a whole another area without rain. I am currently traveling the PNW so TRUST ME I know all about the “rain” and “humidity” that you are complaining about.

      @oliviachirico6458  5 лет назад +1

      Jim Scheltema I’ll definitely make video on it. Traveling with a dog in heat is tough. I recommend getting reflectix for the windows. And going out to eat when the sun goes down that way the temp isnt too hot in the car. Or go out to eat with a place that has a patio. You kind of have to work your schedule around your dog to make sure they stay happy and cool!

      I took chicken wire and put it over the passenger window. It is time consuming but, it worked. Keep the drivers window down about an inch this allows air to flow. I removed the door screw lock so no one could unlock the door and get in the van. Keep the passenger window up about 2" to protect from anyone using pliers to unlock the door. I bought a fan from walmart that is ac or battery operated. It sounds crazy but make a pattern of your window and increase it by 2". I used small screws all the way around as i stretched the wire. If you put the wire on by using only 4 screws in predrilled holes. Hold the wire up and use a marker to make a dot for each hole that needs to be screwed in. Once all the holes are drilled it is as easy as screwing the screws in. But remember to make the wire tight. When you are finished us a pair of needle nose pliers and roll the pointed-jagged wire ends. Before doing any of this. Spray paint the wire to the color of your van. It draws less attention. Good luck..... Tx Pearl
