Yep i remember after watching this video i started to play specifically on the Mario Kart map and all of the servers would be full and people would just kill each other without an end, it was the most fun i had in tf2 but after a while all of the mario kart maps were changed with bigger, modded and warped versions of the original one and lost its taste.

It's fascinating, as a complete newcomer to the game and its community, to see this kind of stuff. I can see why it's considered iconic, even though it definitely shows its age. It's especially nice to see the community strive so hard to keep stuff like this in their memory, even though the creator is unfortunately gone.
The reason might also be that Kitty was considered to be one of the "founding fathers" of Gmod videos. There were plenty of Gmod videos out there, but very few had so much raw talent and emotion put into them as Kitty's creations. The many other Gmod content creators which came a few years later would often mention Kitty's name, because he either inspired them or he straight up helped them get a better understanding of how to make Gmod content. So yes, he's like an icon of a forgotten era of RUclips. Even to this day you see the engineer with the white hat being included in various modern Gmod videos, as a way to honor his memory. He had a huge impact on the TF2 community and Gmod videos in general.
i tend to forget just how accurate this was in portraying how rounds played out on that mario kart map. it would go from people killing each other like a normal round of tf2 but then their would be individuals who just wanted to ride the karts on play with the teleporters and then everyone would splinter into these groups of people clashing and interacting with each other until the round ended ( which it usually never did)
And then an animated cat would take control of everyone, causing an engineer just hanging out to unleash his guitar to kill it. God I love this game. Joking aside your 100% right.

This video was so ahead of its time. It's 17 minutes of pure rapid-fire absurd comedy; rife with mixed animation styles, inventive post processing, and hell, even a 30-second lets play! When it first came out, it blew EVERYONE away. Me and my friends from school quoted it for years after it came out. Even now, I hear "GREASE MONKEY" in my dreams. Truly, no one did it like Elliott did.

I remember frequenting a mario kart server like 5-6 years ago. There was a demo main named 'the goddamn strike g' who only used the loose cannon and hit every shot. Watching this makes me remember that server.

Can we take a minute to realize how important this video is to a lot of us, somehow without even trying it is the most loved and most memorable video on youtube to quite a lot of people, everyone can say they've seen this video at least once, even people who don't even know what TF2 is. It's like a time capsule for 2012 but you don't cringe seeing the contents. Lets not forget how many people grew up watching Kitty0706's stuff and remember when this video first came out. And even if he has passed this video continues to leave lasting impacts on people to this day. He truly was a legend.

Just dropping in here to pay my respects and thank kitty for being one of my first exposures to my now longtime favorite band A Day to Remember. Just saw them live for the second time about a week ago and it was so fun. At some point it hit me that I probably wouldn't be there if it weren't for Colin. Fun Fact: Did you know Garry Newman, the creator of Garry's Mod, made a tribute to Kitty0706 by making a main menu background that follows a white hat on a chair with a guitar. When I saw it, I actually cried from how Garry made something to send his condolences to the best animators in his game.
It's absolutely unreal how much genuine talent this guy had. He was only 20 when he left us, producing high quality comedy stuff like this. He would've been one of the greats. Even 5 years later it's hard to get over this tragic loss. RIP Colin. We still miss you. But you still make us laugh.

TF2, Gmod, Fun servers, hats, classic internet memes, sprays, Portal 2, Skyrim, Left 4 Dead (and 2), YTPs and YTPMVs, Valve actually making games... I miss it. I miss it so much. I love how accurate this video portrayed tf2 during the golden years expressing its "dumb yet fun" mood perfectly, and solidifying it's community. I was 12 years old back then, probably the best time I've had playing tf2 and watching kitty's videos with my cousins. And for those reasons alone will resonate with me years to come. Man what happened to the old TF2? Now it is just too competitive and I no longer have fun in it. And the maps are all terrible. The classics are just unheard of. The only good thing I feel that has come out with the updates is queuing with friends.

Can we take a minute to realize how important this video is to a lot of us, somehow without even trying it is the most loved and most memorable video on youtube to quite a lot of people, everyone can say they've seen this video at least once, even people who don't even know what TF2 is.
