Lake District Drives | Over Honister Pass from Lodore

An uninterrupted, narration and music-free drive from near Lodore in the English Lake District, through Grange, Borrowdale, Rosthwaite, Seathwaite and over the Honsiter Pass, down into Gatesgarth beside Buttermere. From the car park beside Gatesgarth Farm walkers head up Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks (our film of which is on its way!).

Thanks for sharing. I would love to drive this route including Honister pass but i experience fear and anxiety when I think of tall heights or positioned at a significant height! does any part of this route close to cliff? please advise.

Hi there, thanks for sharing. I would love to drive this route but I have Acrophobia ( fear of heights) when hiking or climbing in mountainous terrain ! does any part of this route close to cliff? please advise.

There are a couple of points where there are some slight drops near the road, but no serious cliffs. The road basically follows a valley up and another down, so you shouldn’t be exposed at any point. Worth checking out this, and our other film of the route from the other direction, before you go, to make sure.
It’s not the steepest drive in the Lakes.
