It's kinda funny, that you take old, beaten up cars and restore them to new look, and then take new cars and beat them up, to look post-apocalyptic :D Don't misunderstand it, I really love the look of these used, aged things, i'm in love with them, it's just the irony that i feel in this. Love your vids, i only found you, but i feel like you're my kind of youtuber
Dude, I was watching tool restoration then came across your channel...I am freaking enjoying this its so interesting. It reminds me of another channel I'm subcribed too called mini cooking. Where the Creator cooks real food with miniature cooking wares. RUclips never ceases to amaze me. You got me as a new subscriber.
You have officially inspired me to make my own custom hot wheels cars! I'm used to a lot of the tools & methods you use for building Warhammer 40k game pieces so I hope it won't be to hard for me. Your work is amazing & ty for a great video & for inspiring me & others :D
I have no idea why this was in my recommended videos but after watching one video I can't stop watching. Excellent and INTERESTING work done to cars on a micro scale. Subbed.
The term “shoebox” commonly refers to the full-sized Chevrolet sedans offered during a three-year period of 1955 through 1957. Chevrolet, through the top tier Bel Air and its corresponding 150 and 210 lower-trim models, made such an indelible mark on the current and future car culture, that the venerable shoeboxes of the mid-1950s survive today as popular as the ’32-through-’34 Ford roadsters among customizers, hot rodders and performance lovers.
I'm 63 now....my interests lay more towards outdoor pursuits and when indoors, decoys and general woodworking. But there was a time decades ago, my brothers and I would work model kits....in between playing with Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. In fact, I still have mine and all of theirs---close to 200 cars including original 1968 Redlines...I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching and listening to your videos....so calming and Zen like. Hmmmm....wonder if the wife would support me tackling this hobby? (I don't think I'll ask) Keep it up, amigo!
I love this so much. I used to have an airbrush and workshop in 70s when i was a kid. I would make WW2 armor and airplanes from photos. With painting, weathering, damage and details. I painted miniatures as well. I love creating the appearance and imagery. I loved Ray Harryhausen as well.
once you hit 100K you should really reach for sponsorships with the paints you use. your such a fantastic and unique channel I know you can work out some sponsorships.
very interesting variety of paints and resources... citadel warhammer paints, wash on tattoos and various other stuff. looks really good though! don't know how the different brands merge so well. This is an awesome car
A Shoebox Ford is gearhead slang for that year of real Ford car. Cool custom HWs! I still collect them stock, mostly older style, hot rods, muscle cars, trucks. Nice Channel!
"Shoe box" is a 1949 Ford. The 1948,1949,and 1950 Fords like these were called "shoe box Fords" because of the way they look.My neighbor owns a 1950 "shoe box" Ford.
I think on the next one, putting some solder along the body after rusting it like the spikes and stuff they have in the universe would be really cool. just take a soldering iron and build up layers of metal until you get a cool look. another cool one would be throwing parts of different cars together to imitate that cobbled look. overall though, love the car and love the mad max collection, great work.
Shoebox was when car styling changed from the late 30's and 40's having fenders that bulged out from the body, to the smooth sides, but before the tail fin fad kicked in. Some people liked it, others felt it lacked style. The term stuck with some models more than others.
awesome work! one suggestion that I could offer is that you drill out the headlight pots for a realistic post-apocalyptic/can't-find-replacement-headlight-because-we-blew-everything-up look

WOW MAN! You are literally the master of customizing! You and Scott Dunlap are really good! I love your custom videos and I feel like I've just been inspired! :)
Window screen would have been a much finer mesh, You can even get fiberglass window screen n rolls that is super easy to cut into custom shapes. Amazing build, regardless of the ginormous mesh!
The "Shoe Box" you refer to is the model of Ford car. They were made from 49-53They were the first totally new car after world war II. They were rounded around the corners but still had a shoebox style compared to older models. I still have two real 1950 model sedans that have sat many years and need to be brought back to life.
The driver of that car won't survive a day in the mad max world without those doors
Dudes drive around there holding on top of cars, I think he will be more than fine.
Douglas Rampazo Actually you're right lel XD
Crianças...
Jirapat Thaenphromrat so true
Yeah, I agree. A bandit could easily jump in there and kill the driver, but the car itself looks better without the doors anyway.
Man, the mesh windows really are an inspired choice, nice little detail.

When I saw you use he dremel on the car all I could here in my head was Homer telling Flanders "I'm putting speed holes in my car!"
why is this so satisfying?!
I really like the character that you created for this car! A post-apocalyptic artist, and a really neat car.

baremetalHW hey I saw this comment on a video but you should do the pizza planet truck Dakota butler is the person who came up with the idea

Same story here dude

The reason it's called shoebox is because this casting is based off a 1949-51 Ford which were nicknamed shoebox Fords after their design.
I'm 63 now....my interests lay more towards outdoor pursuits and when indoors, decoys and general woodworking. Blake griffin Agreed this one is my favorite !!
baremetalHW how much for one of these, they look great.
Blake griffin yeah it's like a zombie fighter car
This "Shoe box" is a 1949 Ford Custom - beautiful work!
Pull the jewelers saw blades through beeswax a couple of times, it helps keep them from binding.
Brilliant idea thank you!

Shoebox was a description attributed to it when it was introduced. Critics of the design referred to it as looking like a shoebox. Greta video!!
well i found a new channel to binge watch. subbed. :)

"Shoe Box" is the nick name for a '49-'51 Ford.
So glad somebody knew this !
Yeah, I was going to comment that he should Google Shoebox Ford. Looks just the same.
Also 55 and 56 Chevys, that is a Studebaker
Yeah I know and I can see why

A Shoebox Ford is gearhead slang for that year of real Ford car. Cool custom HWs! I still collect them stock, mostly older style, hot rods, muscle cars, trucks. Nice Channel!
1949~1951 Ford cars are referred to as shoebox's.
This is a work of art, when i think of a mad max hot wheels i think of something like this good job
that was awesome, the detailing and ideas used are genius, I think. the end result is amazing. 😀 👍 👍
Found these getting into the Gaslands game; great stuff, very inspirational!
you are a great artist! I have a suggestion for another car, the pizza planet truck?
Is that from toy story?
This inspired me to write a ruleset to play wasteland car combat on the top of a kitchen table :), thank you very much!

Previous to the 49 Fords, vehicles had fender bulges over the wheels. The 49 Fords lead the styling of flat sides and looked like a shoebox.
49-51 Ford cars, not 48...42-48 were known as fat fendered
I'm loving these Mad Max Customs!
These mad max cars are very cool please keep doing them
I only watched your second mad max custom, along with this one obviously, and i love what you can do with these, I hope you do more in the future :D
Its called a "Shoebox" because it is a model of a late 40's early 50's Ford sedan that was nicknamed "shoebox".
I think on the next one, putting some solder along the body after rusting it like the spikes and stuff they have in the universe would be really cool.
just take a soldering iron and build up layers of metal until you get a cool look.

overall though, love the car and love the mad max collection, great work.
Have you ever seen the game called Gaslands? This is perfect for that.
You’re not kidding, TabooZombie!
Love the beaten effect on this. Top custom work. The shoebox is perfect for the beginner. Hmmm. Thanks as usual.
idk how i got to ur channel, but im glad i did!

This is so cool. Thank you for sharing. This mad max shoe box is something else.
I also like making cars in this style.
Mattel should seriously hire you, the way you customize your hot wheels are very great😆
Dear friend!
Why there is no video for tuning models?
Love your series of resto-customization videos. I plan on using a lot of your techniques for the tabletop game Gaslands. Thanks.
I think the front has the sides for the wheels , covering the motor is cuted off , but it still looks nice
awesome work on that car job well done love the way you did to the car thanks for sharing this video all videos

What about lifting the car off the wheels for a more off road look
Parabéns pela customização!

It's time I take my boys matchbox cars.
Very very cool, good job.
It was called the shoebox because the 1950 ford was nicknamed the shoebox ford due to its boxy look

Very nice work, I don't know anything about restoring small cars, but it looks great.
(maybe, a chain across the door opening)
That's really cool. The effects you use really work !
