    Hey there! your Kalanchoe looks absolutely beautiful ❤️. I just got a very small one last week, they were in full bloom and now the flowers are mostly dried up. i can see some small buds but they also look a little dried up so I'm confused whether should i prune the flowers only or should i prune the buds as well. It should be mentioned that I'm completely new to gardening. Your response would truly be appreciated.
    Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

      and what should i do now to make them bloom again?? should i just water it once a week or do i have to do anything else alongside?

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  2 года назад +1

      Hi dear, You can cut down the wasted flowers. If you think that the buds are also drying then you can remove them as well. Removing dead flowers and leaves if any will divert the plant's energy to new growth. Thank you so much. ☺

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  2 года назад +1

      To help your plant rebloom again, you will have to trick the plant by providing the plant with dark period for few months. reduce watering and no fertilizing. Place the plant in pitch dark and take out after few months. This will trick the plant to rebloom.

      Hi dear, sure, I will make a video on propagation as well but its winter season here at my place therefore, i cant make it now but will surely do when spring starts. You can propagate kalanchoes with leaf as well as stem cuttings. place your cutting in water and wait for the roots to come out. Its super easy. You can try doing that...🙂

      Hi there, If your plant is small and healthy then there is no need to repot it. But if you see the roots coming out from the drainage holes and the plant is overgrown then you can repot the plant. Thank you.🙂

    hi, you mentioned about putting the plant in a total darkest environment. May I know at which stage (we do not have the 4 seasons) do I do that? My plant is blooming now. In Singapore there is only 1 season, summer all the time around average 34 degrees celsius daily.

    • @tonnyengert
      @tonnyengert 3 года назад +1

      In nature they bloom over the spring and summer. Then you furtilize them every month to two months. Then in fall you give the plant less light and in december the plant needs more than 12 hours darkness. In that time you will give the plant rest amd dont furtilize the plant. Also watering is a longer periode as once a month before you start to give him in spring every two weeks but not overwater the plant

    Thank you so much!
    That was sooooo helpful.
    I just didn’t get the reblooming part. So 14 hours of complete darkness and then do I put it on the light for the rest 8 hours? Or I just keep it in the darkness 24/7 for couple months?
    Thank you 😊

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  2 года назад +4

      Hi Ekaterina, Thank you so much 🙂. I am glad that the video was helpful to you. For reblooming, you can place your kalanchoe in darkness for few months and then bring it out. During the dark period, the plant goes dormant and when you bring it out later, the plant gets tricked and starts reblooming.

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  2 года назад +4

      @Sabb, Hi dear. To fertilize your plant you can use complete liquid fertilizer. Mix it with water and pour it in your plants. Ratio of water and fertilizer will be mentioned in the instructions on the bottle. You can also add some compost or worm castings on the top layer of the soil. Homemade fertilizers such as rice water, banana tea, onion tea are also beneficial.
      You dont need to change the soil to fertilize.. 😊

      from what I have seen, you do that for a ~month or until you start to see the buds appear, then you can bring the plant out and leave it with a normal day's quantity of sunlight :) you only do this if you want your kalankhoe to bloom outside of its normal blooming seasons, if you don't mind your plant flowerless during fall and most of winter then you don't have to do this

    Help!!! What if I have a small plant in bloom and the leaves are turning crispy at the edges? I’m worried about my plant! I didn’t know what it was at first so I might have overwatered it a little in it’s slightly small pot without a drainage hole. I’m going to make a hole soon and have stopped watering it though the soil is still moist light a damp-ish sponge. I also put one small pellet of 6-2-4 Microlife citrus fertilizer in the tea pot spout(that’s the shape of the pot it’s in and I cant take it out. I thought it was a Bonsai rose at first but the leaves really threw it off so I found out it was not indeed a rose plant. Thanks!

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  3 года назад +1

      Hi dear, the first thing you can do to save your plant is to take it out of the pot and check its roots. If the roots are black then the plant might have started developing root rot which happnes mainly due to Overwatering. Kalanchoes are succulents, they dont need a lot of water. If the soil feels moist to touch upto a knuckle then do not water the plant as the leaves store a lot of water in them.
      You can change the soil and repot your plant in a well draining pot and add perlite to the soil for better drainage. Then wait for some days and let the plant recover. Do not fertilize. Succulents dont need much of fertilizer.

    My kalanchoes grow nice and lush indoors, but stopped flowering after the first round as I bought from the store. I also propagated the plant in 4 different pots and all of them grew nice and healthy but no flowers 😔

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jay, Kalanchoes usually bloom during late winter and early spring. To make your kalanchoes to bloom, you might need to trick your plant and provide it with few hours of sleep i.e dormant period during winter by keeping it in pitch dark for 14 hours and then 10 hours of bright light for a month or so. When you see the buds forming, bring it back in bright light, water it and feed the plant again to enhance blooming. This planning is needed during winter season so that the plant can prepare for spring season. Try doing the same. Wish you all the best. 👍😊

    I got a beautiful orange Kalanchoe but it died a few months ago.🥺 I can imagine because of root rot. I’m affraid of getting another one. I’m not good with succulents. I just can’t find the perfect time to water them.

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  3 года назад +1

      I can understand. But succulents are pretty easy to care for. Even if you do not water them they can still thrive but not overwatering.. so the best strategy is to check the soil first by putting your finger in the soil upto your knuckle. If the soil feels dry , then water your plant. If it feels moist then do not water. Always follow "soak and wait" instead of "little and often" approach when it comes to watering your plants.

    • @eliza5290
      @eliza5290 3 года назад

      If you really struggle with overwatering, one tip that helped me is only watering when they show signs of dryness. Succulents need so little water that it's good to try to simulate a desert environment with them. Their soil actually *likes* to stay dry for a bit, so if u notice it's dry maybe leave it for a while. You can usually tell with succulents when to water them because a few of their leaves will turn crispy at the edges or their leaves start to look a little wrinkly. Good luck tho!
