Oh yeah, the old classic two elk to Minturn. My buddy and I first rode that way back in 2000 on hard tails. Started in Vail, rode to up to the top of the ski lifts, down commando run, followed 2 elk to Minturn, had a big burger at the cougar Inn, rode/hiked back up cougar ridge and back down to vail! Those were the days. You guys made it look so much easier and faster, James was absolutely smoking it. Cheers!
Seriously, the last 3 miles of that trail are painful for many riders... to see that much speed and flow at the end of a chunk-marathon is both humbling and inspiring.
James sees the trail differently. An object in the trail is not something to be avoided (or ridden around). An object is to be boosted off or over for maximum efficiency and fun. So cool. Nate thanks for showing us this world.
2:50 ... can't recall Tolkien writing about bike trails right next to Edoras.... what a place!!! the green... !!!! top notch trail as well you just can't find stuff like this where I live
Love this video edit man. Mountain biking in its purest form. No music, just wheels on dirt, the sound of hubs, the occasional stoke comment, out in nature, flowing trails, and absolute monster riding. Keeps me in the sport and watching these vids. 🤙🏼. New sb140 should be arriving in a few weeks, stoked to try it out here in the pacific nw on some Oregon trails. Love the content. 👍🏼
Such an awesome trail! I'll admit though the climb from the road surprised me at elevation... first time climbing above 11000' and I saw stars the first hill 😆
When is James going to sport the rear view camera so we get to watch you ride too? Loved when you used to have both POVs (though I’m sure it was more editing).
Nate Hills Yea only 3-4 rides and I feel like it changed the stiffness of my bike as a whole! Love the channel man, you’ve been a great source of inspiration in making cool POV stuff🎥🚲💨 Much respect ✊🏼
I've ridden both several times and love both rides. Monarch Crest feels more epic, it's higher and is several big descents with climbs in between. This ride, depending on how you do it, is basically one big descent once you top out at Vail. It never has that truly epic above treeline feel that the Crest does but it is amazing in its own way, and dropping through the open meadows into the creek valley is very cool. There is some fairly decent exposure to the creek on your left in a few spots.
@@johnwilliamson9453 yeah definitely. That said, I've spent a lot of time riding around Vail in the last few years and there are some truly great sections of trail.
10:50 mark. Really? That's clearly some exposure on the right, and James is doing whips against the hillside like it's nothing, going what looks like about 25 mph. Uh...OK.

Glad to rekindle some memories for you Eugene!
Those side hits starting around 10:40 were way too savage to go unnoticed, killer riding James.

James is savage! Santa Cruz better get him on the team!
James is my favorite person you follow. He is also one of the best riders.

Follow James Fridays are the best.
Legend, that James.
Yes!!! James W. Our favorite.
Thank you for taking me to places I'll probably never get to visit. This is such a beautiful country.
Great Video! Such a scenic place to ride!

Thanks Rob! Enjoy that new bike!
Nice! I live here and this is and always has been my favorite local ride. You guys crushed it.
Once again thank you for another great ride. Beautiful scenery, but looks dry. Be safe 👍🏻
It was cool to see the other side of that trail. Never ridden it to the Minturn side.
My fav of your videos from this year!
RAD
Thank you for the vicarious ride. Haven't been on the mtb, for a week, in Reno due to unhealthy air from the fires in Nor Cal.
Just got a new sb140 and I’m going up to vail area in a couple weeks. Can’t wait to ride this!
Hope you enjoy it!
Nate Hills thanks!
Incredible as usual!
Show de pilotagem.. Lugar incrivel.. Nice ride. Amazing place
The trail is amazing
Such an awesome trail! I'll admit though the climb from the road surprised me at elevation... first time climbing above 11000' and I saw stars the first hill 😆
I wish I could pedal hard enough to see stars, LOL.
@@natehills9388 😅 you gotta come out east man... things are happening out here

Superb Nate hills👍👍👍👍👍👍
Keep rockin'.
Quality bike skills on show......🤟
Much appreciated!
Shredding!!! Pete needs to make an appearance in the next vid though!
Looks so fun to ride,
So GOOD!
That's a fun one! Try it without a front brake sometime...not so fun.
That was insane, thought it was going to be a smooth flowy trail for about 30 sec😬
That James Weingarten is a dream boat
ahhh the old minturn mile.
Damn that trails sick ass f*** good shit👍
Some people can turn riding a bike into art.
You been likey the Forky??? Just got meself a ZEB and WoW it's been precise & stable feeling💯😁✌🏼🚲💨
I absolutely love it. Game changer for sure.

Never seen it so dry up there. Everyone please do a little rain dance for Colorado and the West.
Awesome Bob ross scenery
Holy shit at the rock jump at 0:24. That drop by Blue Sky Basin is much larger than it appears on camera.
Stack it!!!
A tricky classic
Top demais 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
awesome
Need rain!!! How does this compare with the Crest?

I agree with Jacob’s assessment.
@@jacobtubbs2324 Thanks...I have to agree on the Crest. So much to ride in western Colorado.

Wow awesome video great job 👍😎🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hello I came from crested butte vid 3 years ago u should go shred it agin they changed up the trails I ride there
What do you like to run for psi? Assuming tubeless. Thanks.
what camera did you use?
How was the riding toward the east end of the trail? mtb project says it is mostly unridable but your video makes it look easy.
Steep climb on bowmans. It’ll make you regret that midnight marg
It is all 100% rideable. Not sure who writes those things.
Awesome as usual. You still using a gimbal? Or do you think the GoPro's software is good enough now that you can bypass it?
Always gimbal. Digital stabilization will never be as good.
How are you handling the smoke? Any changes to riding or how hard you go?
This particular day wasn't too bad. I have definitely been taking it easy in the smoke. Soft pedaling the climbs without breathing hard.
Just an idea - but would be interested in a 30 second bike check at the end of each video so we can see what the person ahead is running!
Mountain bikes and overland ! Check it out on tik tok. @wavydoinks
Smoke from the fires wasn't bad there?
It changes daily. We lucked out on this particular afternoon.
*Pedal strike causes fire* ... That's some mean riding.✔️
Nate "that got aggressive" = I probably can't ride that.
10:50 mark. Really? That's clearly some exposure on the right, and James is doing whips against the hillside like it's nothing, going what looks like about 25 mph. Uh...OK.
I literally used to live a block away from where the opening shot was taken. #takemeback
🇧🇷😍
Anyone else disappointed when a video doesn't start or finish with Pete?
Damn seams as the entire SW and Rockies is dry as Gin. We need sum rain 🌧 like rite now 🙏
pro riders and no thule or one up rack? wait I'm confused!
surprised u didnt meet Joe Rogan
