    Announcer called Emily's first 5K split at 15:41. With a 10K time of 30:49 that means she did a negative split of 15:08 on her second 5K! That's actually a few seconds faster than her NCAA indoor record for a 5K at the Armory in New York. I'm impressed.

    Beautiful run Em , Molly, and Allie! It's the magic of the Eucalyptus trees you smell all around the track at Stanford. If you've run there you'll never forget the air you're running in. Em is altitude trained now and will run the London Marathon near the end of this month. Jordan Hasay is likewise ready to go with her second Boston Marathon on April 15th, 1 week from tomorrow. (Em, stay up high as long as you can in Arizona before London.)

    A very impressive run. However, I think back on Eliud Kipchoge's marathon world record of 2:01:39 and how his first 10K split was 29:01 .... and his SECOND 10K was FASTER at 28:56 ... his final 20K was actually faster than his first 20K!! Mind blowing!

      Bruh you don't need to bring Kipchoge down here 😂.
      The women's world record for 10000m is over a minute faster than this

    Great race! And thanks for posting.
    As someone who never ran track, how come the backmarkers don't move over and let the leaders take lane 1? Seems like the leaders have to work just a bit harder to go past the lapped traffic.
    Thx!

    • @cy8685
      @cy8685 5 лет назад +4

      It used to be proper running etiquette that lapped runners would move over to allow the leaders to past on the inside. Unfortunately, that practice was abandoned years ago. I wish they'd go back to that standard so the fastest runners could have the opportunity to post their fastest times.

    • @RUN_RGB
      @RUN_RGB 5 лет назад +1

      C Y? I noticed that too at my local HS track. Most walkers will use the inside lane no matter how fast runners blow past them. We should be more like Europeans in the autobahn, keep left lane open unless you’re going fast

    • @johnnyrobinson1111
      @johnnyrobinson1111 5 лет назад

      You don't have to move over because you may just be getting pasted and not lapped.

      @@johnnyrobinson1111 🙄 I've been running for 47 years and never in my life met anyone who didn't know whether or not they were being passed or lapped.

    • @l1m1n4l
      @l1m1n4l 5 лет назад +1

      You don't move over - this is a competition, not a lesson in etiquette. The leaders have to earn their right to lead by making the necessary passes when it's time to do so. It's part and parcel to track running and race tactics.

    Sisson made it look easy. Molly Huddle seemed to be struggling just to keep pace. She could have ran under 3030 for sure if not for the other runners that got in the way. And with the new IAAF qualifying standards, Sisson is stepping up to the plate. And this is what its going to take for her to be competitive with the Africans.

    • @mikemather5
      @mikemather5 3 года назад +1

      Sisson and Huddle are different teams but they do run together a lot. I think they were just on different pages in their training book in this April race. Emily is booked for the London Marathon soon after this race (her first one).

      Athletic Potatoh She actually can’t qualify yet. The only events your able to qualify for rn are the 10k and up. All other times are too old to be considered to for the trials under the new rules I believe. And I don’t know for sure what she specializes in she was really good during cross and can go already down to 3k. So 5k runner is my guess

      Running fast enough doesn’t make 25 laps on a track anymore interesting. Cross country 10ks are fun because of the different terrain and challenge track is just tedious to run.

      @annadonelan1136 5 лет назад +1

      Brandon Chain exactly my point! Running in circles over and over again is boring as hell, even if you’re going fast. The scenery and terrain changes in cross country courses make it so that you don’t get bored and have something new to look at
