I actually did fail this cause it flashed on the screen and I hit the wrong button. Yeah if you hit the wrong button you automatic fail it. And considering how shaky my hands was after finally beating the bullet hell I panicked.
I laughed super hard when this happened to me, then I got pissed when I had to redo the bullet hell segment again. That QTE was way different than any of the ones prior so felt like kind of a cheap death imo
Yeah like its like "Bruh we literally set up this unique boss fight with interesting dialogue and with so much emotion, you're getting this instead."

Since the Titans and their weapons are technically powered by the chaos emeralds, would that explain why they manage to harm/faze or at least knock Super Sonic away by a good distance?
But once Sonic took the emeralds from them to become Super Sonic, they should be deprived of that power source no?
@I am 40 I'd imagine it's just them running on Energy it's gathered before getting the Emerald swiped, So it's just either Sonic runs out of Rings/Loses the emeralds or Sonic defeats them and all that

@@playerback7722 even still the only final bosses that have actually hurt Super Sonic are Solaris, Dark Gaia, and Egg Salamander. All others just knock him back since he’s nigh invulnerable

I'd also like to say that maybe the corruption made him more prone to getting injured from falling from high places, but even tho he's endured similar incidents in the past, it seems like this time he didn't survive. nevertheless, terrifying experience.

This drowning theme was reused from Sonic Colours.
I'm guessing since it wouldn't fit as much if it happened during general exploration, plus the overworld music still plays faintly in the background.
Compared to getting caught in the bubble where it's like a miniature event, since it would fit with the feeling of being held captive.
I got ptsd when I heard it on island 4 for the first time 😭

Immortal = Incapable of dying from age
Invincible = Invulnerable in general
Super Sonic is neither, he's just so powerful he is typically unable to be harmed by anything thrown at him. But can still be killed/damaged by higher dimensional beings like Solaris and Dark Gaia, or equally super strong things like Metal Overlord or the Titans

They didn’t have to do any of these, but I’m happy they did. You mess up, or take too long, BAM you just died. Loved this game, even if the final boss was a bit lacking (I blame Sega though), wouldn’t be surprised if Sonic Team wanted to do more but didn’t have the time. With what they have they could definitely do some sort of dlc that adds more islands and bosses. If Sega allows it that is
The team is really small. Only 60 people made this game. SEGA needs to hire more developers in the team.

original plan was for sonic to work with all 4 titans to defeat the end in a big battle but was scrapped due to time, you can tell by the out of place dialog, sonic asking supreme for help even though its clearly being controlled by sage now.
I feel like they were going for a Nier Automata-esque vibe with The End. It wasn't about the fight. It was about the dialogue and emotion. Frontiers is not the first game to tackle things in this way. I feel that if they had approached this just a little differently, it would have worked better.
Seeing Sonic desperately spin dashing the sides of that water capsule and being eaten alive are brutal.

People are talking about the face plant, which I get, but I also love the Wyvern missile one at 0:18 because he legit just does nothing
Like, he just floats over there and stops for what feels like an uncomfortably long time before the missiles all slam into him with what is honestly great comedic timing
For other QTEs you can at least see him struggle, or try and fail to do something, but nope
He actually just doesn't do anything here
What is comedic here ? And no, it's not too long, it's enough to let the time to the player !
And you can consider Super Sonic were paralyzed and didn't act in time here.

Not to mention that the music even played at one point where the guy could’ve synced it. In other words, it’s now 🎵”What goes around, (doesn’t) comes back around again!”🎵
i find it interesting how consistent it is that the only way Super Sonic can "die" while super is if he gets crushed, which is consistent with the Classic Sonic games. (The only exception is where he "died" during The End, but I would assume it's considered a loss because he fails to stop the big moon.) Even when the rockets crash into him, they crush him first before exploding.
It's just as consistent that Super Sonic only struggles with, or gets hurt by enemies that are comparable in terms of power. The invincibility seems to operate under that rule.

Can we pause and think how brutal some of these deaths are, getting crushed by a giant sword, some weird saw thing comes dashing at you, being eaten alive, missiles crushing your body and exploding, like damn

Took me over an hour to beat The End since for a while I didn't realize switching to black/white made you immune to those attacks, thought it was just to destroy the bullets. For a while I was making the boss harder for myself unintentionally.
That is to say when I ran into that QTE for the first time, tension was so high by that point it didn't register what I had to do, mashed X and failed it. Sucked so much lmao.
On the bright side it was satisfying to kill them in the end.

Remember in the other Sonic games where Supersonic meant you just had to run in a straight line, while they threw stuff at you, and if you died you simply fell off into an abyss.

They give the player enough time to fail the final QTE and still make it.
NORMALLY you're in a shallow water that's a little over a meter (Sonic is 1 meter tall) deep. It ain't exactly screaming DANGER compared to a machine trapping you with the express purpose of making you drown.

Giganto knows Sonic doesn’t take fall damage, because he saw Sonic fall from the heavens into his arena, so he does a bit of snaking.
And even if Sonic doesn’t do the HSP, he still falls a rather lethal distance down.

gods are able to damage Super Sonic. Regardless, these are just failstates. It's not clear if any of the Titans can canonically damage Super Sonic, unlike previous examples in the series
I mean these are fails so they technically don't count.
For all those who played Sonic 3, the final boss's grab attack can knock you out of super sonic. I think that was the first showing of how that form isn't invincible.

Every single time I see a comment saying “The Titans are powered by Chaos emerald”, I would follow up with the fact that once Sonic uses up that emerald, the Titans would no longer have that power source no?

He can even get hurt by beings that are comparable to the chaos emeralds. Solaris didn't need them and he was able to smack the rings out of Sonic. Same with Time Eater.
