I actually think Furiosa did a GREAT job at being the sort of anti girl boss while still working as the hero of the story. She fails a lot, she uses her brains more than her brawn, she has a male mentor ( Praetorian Jack) and she just feels like a well rounded, complex character who's job is more than spouting that MEN=BAD.

It’s like it was pulled in with other films and not deservingly so.

Calling the movie "kind of a spin off or sequel or prequel to Fury Road" when it's so clearly a DIRECT PREQUEL lol. Hilarious lack of research in the first 40 seconds.

If you aren't an industry analyst and your knowledge about film is "female protagonist = woke girl boss", why even bother with making such a subjective and uninformative video? And why are you trying to read a non-Hollywood, Australian movie with American sensibilities? I hate the woke crowd, but anti-woke crowd somehow manages to be even worse!
No, Furiosa didn't fail because of wokeness. It didn't fail because the protagonist is female. It didn't fail because "it's a Mad Max movie without Mad Max" in it, because Fury Road failed break even at the box office too. There are many economical factors that carry much more weight: It's in a niche genre, in a series that had its last installment almost a decade ago. We had a pandemic since than, the economics of the world changed, the way we perceive public places changed, tickets cost more, your money buys less. But no. Furiosa woko woko becuz fe-mail vaginhe.

Thank you, I was looking exactly for this comment.
I'd also add that film was hardly marketed. I didn't even realized it'd been out for three weeks when I eventually saw it (rushing to the theatre knowing they would push it to streaming asap).
Also, the people who complain that movies have become stale because of wokeness, never venture out of Hollywood. There's actually more great films to watch than in the pre-Star Wars era, but there's also more junk. If you're not satisfied with blockbuster films, be more curious.

I liked the movie. People are sick of the girl boss messaging from the past ten plus years of Hollywood. So people on mass seen the advertising and said no thanks. People also did review bomb it for the same reason without watching it. I hope people watch it

Furiosa falls into an undeserving trap of being part of a cultural wave, but her story is not of that. When I watch Furiosa I don't feel like I'm watching a girl boss female protagonist, I feel like I'm watching a human being with a compelling story. That's a big difference.

Furiosa was always going to be the focus of Fury Road from the start, even going so far back as the script written in the 90s. Max, aside from the first one, is mostly an important side character to the larger plot going on. Getting upset over "wokeness" is silly and stupid.

Max isnt a side character. The films are titled with ‘Mad Max’. He is present in almost every scene of the 2nd one and changes everything in the 3rd.
I watched furiosa and enjoyed it. I honestly cringe (hate that word) at the ‘side character’ point of view. It’s not that deep. It was never said until people pointed out fury road was different to the first 3. He is the hero of the films, you view the world with him. Even fury road is him in their world. Max was just portrayed in a odd way. All the characters know each other in some form but Max.
People cheered when they saw the interceptor with Max next to it. They want a mad max film with more of him.
I’m hoping for another film. Mad Max is a cultural icon in film.

The Mad Max name is there just to cash in. Forget about the Mad Max moniker and watch the movie for what it is and it is a superb action movie with great lore and back story of Furiosa. I dont think its woke at all. This is a movie about a bad ass female character and so we get the bad-ass Furiosa. George Miller is a breath of fresh air in a sea of crap movies in recent years.

It's good. I'm happy I saw it being a Fury Road fan. I hate cheap CGI too and yet I liked this movie. It was very epic.

its actually really good. they found a way to create lots of diffeerent spectacle that freshen up the locations and chases. thought the same thing about cgi from trailers. it isn't so bad in movie because its most notable in those few scenes. its about them losing gas town to demuntus for a time so its very much its own thing but still has a few more unique chases. the heavy use of motorcycles throughout help to make his gang seem a bit different too. Just classic biker gang dynamic.

The real problem is that its a mad max film, without mad max in it.
Even if no female charcters were in this movie it still would have failed.
I have no idea why you are all blaming a female lead and "wokeness". Anytime you people see a female lead you hide your misogyny under the word "woke".
Just admit its like a jurrasic park movie without dinosaurs..its that simple.

People wanted a 4th film since 1985. Expectetions were high and all over the place.
