    Cassava was something I ate a lot growing up. We always cooked a lot and had lots of leftovers to fry. Everyone in my family looked forward to fried cassava for a snack the next day.

    I made these tonight. I had to boil the Yuca for about 15 minutes and it still probably could have been boiled a bit more as it was a bit too tough when fried. But they were good! Next time, I will boil a bit longer.

    • @CookingwithShirani
      @CookingwithShirani  4 года назад +3

      Yes sometimes you have to boil them longer. I always test it to make sure it's tender before I take them out of the pot. Btw fried cassava is also really good with soup 😊😋.

    In Indonesia, we put it to ice seasoned water for about 15 minutes. Immediately after we boil/steam the cassava. So the outer side can be crispy with melting cassava inside. The keyword for this recipe is "singkong goreng merekah".

      one other thing...I don't have a fancy fryer machine. If I do this stovetop, what temperature should the oil be, and how do I know when it's done?

    • @CookingwithShirani
      @CookingwithShirani  4 года назад +4

      You are very welcome Darcie and thank you so much as well. I love, love fried cassava also. This one is hard to scew up so you don't have anything to worry about lol. I always use canola oil when frying. In the deep fryer I put the temperature on 375 F but on the stove top you'll want to fry it between medium and medium high heat. I don't know what the exact temperature is on the stove top because I never check it. One thing though it does take longer to fry on the stove so you'll just have to keep turning it into until all sides are brown. Good luck 😊❤
