I am just getting over some tennis elbow too -- and in my case, it's actually from tennis. Congratulations on finishing Realm of the Elderlings! I am still getting through Assassin's Fate, and I have been making use of the tissues too. Sounds like I will be needing more. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on Fitz and the Fool, Mike!

This week was slightly rough. Getting back into work after the holidays. Finished my first book of 2024 and have twenty-three more to go to meet my goal.
Read: 'Cujo' by Stephen King (reread), Tista vol 1 (manga)
Reading: 'Dresden Files: Dead Beat' by Jim Butcher (1st read), Dead Company vol 3 (manga)
Watched/ing: Mean Girls (2024), The Beekeeper, Cujo, NFL playoffs (even though have Peacock skipping the streaming only game, bs on Comcast and NFL)
Listened: no theme was a random week remember Bathory, Fatboy Slim, and Smashing Pumpkins among the 10 albums.
Played: took week off to make sure finished reading since Cujo was a barely started leftover from 2023

Its been kind of a slow reading week for me. I think reading 3 books at a time during Memory Sorrow and Thorn is a bit more than i can chew, so Golden Son will get pushed to next week. I just started part 3 of The Dragonbone chair and all i can say is I can't turn the pages fast enough. It has been great so far. I've got about 130 pages left in Oliver Twist and about 300 or so left in Promise of Blood. Its not going to get above 20 degrees here in Ohio and I have a 3 day weekend, so I should be able to get some good reading in.
I've been making my way through 911 and I can't stress enough how good it is. Ryan Murphy is one of the best character writers working on television today. I highly recommend it.
Good luck to the Texans this weekend as well. Hope you guys can get a W. 😊

So there was a copy of that leather Shogun Blackstone edition on ebay that ended the other day at $101. I'm just sick I didn't buy earlier. Odd that now there is not ONE available anywhere. I wish we could petition the cancelation of tie-in editions. I saw someone say they're the vinyl pucture discs of books. Which as a collector I like the picture discs! They don't sound near as good, but cool to look at nonetheless.

I have similar feelings about the end of RotE. I really enjoyed all the mini series overall, but to me it never surpassed the heights of Liveship Traders. Which isn't a bad thing because that is one of the best trilogies of all time, but I see a lot of people think the last series is the best and I just didn't think it was close, personally. Which makes sense because I never thought Fitz was the best or most interesting character.

Well… Three-Body Problem.. I would have bigger hope in this adaptation if it would be a UK version. Here in Europe the idea based, not rushed tv is more popular because they don’t afraid of the stakeholders to create action packed content all the time. The Foundation is a good example. Looks good, tastes good… it has 1% of Foundation idea presentation in it. If someone never read the books would never know what’s going on, what’s the main idea behind it.

The way I looked at it for the longest time was that continuing after Tawny Man would've been like dragging Sam away from Bag-End after Return of the King and taking his family away from him. Caved in after a while anyway and now I feel everything bad that happened to Fitz was my fault for not just leaving him with Molly, but then again Fool's Assassin really is the best book Hobb ever wrote, and that's saying a lot.
