Let hope they can make novels for the British show. I would love to see what happens next after series 5 ended.
I can already tell you that new world should be crossovering in season two with the british one and all characters would have been in one team
On the other side of the anomaly would have been the old team
It's good to see that it's coming back in novel form! The author has stated that he can only work on Primeval: New World and not the original series. By the looks of this, it could be a one off or (hopefully) be a good book series!
EDIT: I think the title is to refer the ascent of the fanbase in some way, like try to bring it back up to where it used to be.
I like that Ascent idea 👌🏻
I think they might be testing the waters to see if there might still be an active fanbase.
Something similar happned with Stargate a little while back, with Stargate Origins.
Consider me cautiously optimistic for the future.
I am excited.
Maybe primeval might come back as a book series
I was hoping to propose this idea for you guys. How about a video for "Top Primeval What Ifs?" Chatting about your opinions on different circumstances if things turned out different in the series. Like the obvious if Cutter survived the incident of S3E3, and some of my own ones are if ITV didn't initially cancel the show in 2009, and if Helen died and Stephened lived in S2E7.
Admittedly the fact that it takes place in between eps 1 and 2 deflates my hopes a little bit im still welcoming it with open arms!
Agreed it is a very insipid creative decision.
I am planning and writing a Primeval based book series
Let The Ascent of the comments and speculations begin!
“Climbing Everest? Really? Don’t you think that might be pushing it?”
what? and how are you doing today

Just finished Season Six yesteday for the first time and have pre-ordered the novel. I feel guilty like I've stepped through an anomaly and not waited 11 years like ye lads who took the long way round!
It is a tad disappinting that it is seemingly set between some early eps of PNW. I feel it is the novel's role to carry on the lore not plug in gaps between 11 year old eps like it were a Big Finish audio drama. Back story is dull story.
Leeds is the worst character in all of Primeval so less Leeds is good.
A novel needs to have more dinos than any TV ep. All 4 prior novels have been Hollywood level epic scale. Folk standing about being sad about the dead Predator Control guy isn't a book worthy idea.
It is established by Leeds mid-season that 10 folk have died from dinos all of whom we saw on screen. So again that makes setting the book between early eps a bit of an irrelevant exercise.
Thankyou for the long comment however I have to say Leeds is actually the best character in the show. 🐐
@@thegreatprimevalshow Even Mickey Smith in Dr Who has his fans I guess.
Okay, I know you guys are excited about this, but...
1. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high for this. There's a reason why Primeval: New World has been languishing in the dustbin of history for 11 years, and it's not because people liked it. Even if this book is better written than the show itself, it's probably going to struggle to overcome that legacy. Without a super aggressive marketing campaign, I'd be surprised if it finds much success outside of the New World apologists.
2. Do we even really want a Primeval: New World novel to be a success? I know there's the theory that if this does well, it will set off a domino effect that will lead to more content about the OG Primeval, but I'm not sure that's necessarily true. If anything, I feel there's a danger it will just lead to more New World content, and do we really want that? I know we're all desperate for more Primeval, but I don't think we should be blindly rewarding its shitty spin-off because of that. I think we should have higher standards as a fanbase and save our support for if/when content for the OG show comes out.
While I understand your point with #2, if this book does fail to be a hit, they could just cancel any behind-closed-doors OG series content.
You gotta look at it like an investor. You backed a Primeval book, it failed. Are you going to invest in another Primeval project, when Primeval just showed itself to be unable to generate profit?
Probably not.
You see, something similar happned to Stargate not to long ago. Heard of Stargate: Origins? It was a pretty subpar story in the Stargate universe that kinda retconned some earlier stories. So, naturally, not many fans ended up watching the series.
As it turns out, MGM was using it as a test bed to see if Stargate still had a profitable fanbase. Seeing how the series failed to meet expectations, MGM (And later Amazon) scrapped the planned Stargate series they were going to make.
So, while you're right that the fanbase should have some standards, it is 100% a double edged sword.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim I get what you're saying, but I feel if this was a sincere effort to test the waters, they would release content about the OG show that people actually like vs the spinoff that is widely considered a failure.
As it is, I suspect the only reason this novel was licensed is because Omni Film said to the author "Fine, whatever. We're never gonna do anything with this IP again. Knock yourself out."
@@wildtom3076 You see, you're still looking at it as a _fan_ and not an Investor.
Why make something with the decrepit old series when there was a new, fresher series!
You're assuming the investors would be at all in touch with the fanbase.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim A fresher, newer show that was explicitly cancelled because of low ratings after one season. Where's the business sense in investing in that over a show that ran for 5 series? One was clearly more successful than the other, despite being older, so why not invest in the one that has a much better track record?
@@wildtom3076 Because the other series was older and was canceled years earlier for the exact same reason?
Could also be a licensing issue. Impossible Pictures might be unwilling to approve the usage of the main series license unless they're guaranteed to make money from it, meanwhile, as you said, Omni Film might not give two shits about New World.
Either way, it's a low cost investment. If it succeeds, it can produce a greater profit. If it fails, well, it didn't cost _that_ much.
I am...conflicted.
On one hand, new Primeval content!
On the other...it's New World and not the original series.
