Just found your channel off one of Junkyard Digs videos ,You guys remind me of my younger days doing the mopars and other cars ,Keep it up ,young people doing this is rare anymore .
I've always said that a little rust is just a nice patina for old hotrods, but I think the Charger already has enough personality that that's not necessary any more... Keep up the great work Dylan!
God Bless You Dylan. I didn't know you were a Brother in The Lord Jesus Christ. Awesome. Awesome videos too. Thank you for posting these for us all out here in the world. God Bless the U.S.A and the world.
Hello Dylan, I am glad to see a young man that's into the cars as you are and also serves our Lord. I tried making a comment on one of the other videos and somehow my lack of technological skills put me on another video before I could post it. Well anyway my posting concerns the one where your rocker arm shaft had broken. I've been a master technician for 22 years and hardly ever heard a 318 that makes any noise when properly assembled. They also last a long time due to the fact they have such a low compression ratio. I've got one I'm throwing together now and if I can figure out how I will throw you a video of it. Keep up the work and keep on loving those mopars
I know it's a lot of work but at the end it all pays off keep up the good work I love your Channel it's real cool to see another classic muscle car getting saved and being put together the right way four years of enjoyment on the road God bless keep up the good work
I have some trunk rust (and left frame rail) in my Trans Am, can't wait to tackle it this spring! Thankfully its not as bad as the Charger, and won't need a whole trunk pan.
Hey Dylan. I'm a recent sub after watching Junkyard Digs and his Olds visit you recently. I blitzed thru your vids and finally got caught up. love the mopar focus. Keep it up! Best wishes from Canada.
Yeah I remember replacing the floor of my D100 ('78). I put goop around and riveted them in, but it worked pretty good. You can't tell it isn't welded with the carpet.
You are doing that without a rotisserie. Yikes. You must be committed to it! I did the same work on a 68 charger in the 90's and decided to make a rotisserie and it saved my back!
Dylan great video!!! In case you didn't know you can take your air chisel to peel back unwanted sheet metal from the frame rails. No need to waste time with drilling spot welds UNLESS you're saving both panels associated with the spot weld. In this case it's not, you're just removing crusty sheet metal from your frame rails. Just take your air chisel bit at a shallow angle between the frame rail and sheet metal. The vibration will pop the spot welds. No hammering with a cold chisel and no drilling spot welds. If you already know this please ignore. Keep up the great work!!! Love to meet you at one of the Mopar shows. Do you go to the Mopar Nationals? Carlisle?
It’s easier to grind the top of the spot weld out the use and air hammer with chisel on it underneath. Spot weld cutters are good for saving a panel you are removing but take forever. I also use a reciprocating saw and grinder with diamond blade to remove the bulk of the panels up to the flanges. Hope this helps next time.
Ahhh I love the smell of Charger Rust in da morning. I so miss my 69,70 and 73 Chargers but at least I have the satisfaction of knowing my 73 is in Italy,France burning up the roads there
Quick tip: if you drill at a slower rpm and use the drill with a stop and go technique you will not overheat the spot-weld cutter and you will see how fast the metal shreds start to fly. The point is to keep the bit cool for more efficiensy
Gonna be an AWESOME ride! Look forward to more vids! Wanna recommend something though....Keep your spot weld bit dipped in WD-40 or something like it....That will keep it from getting dull so fast....
I've done this job twice now, once on my 68, then a couple a years later on my 69charger, and both times it was not particularly a job I liked doing lol! But it was nice when it was finished, and I could actually put things in the trunk again👍🏻 including gas in the tank lol! great video keep em coming!!
Looking to replace my rockers on my car the sheet metal around the trim is completely gone, rotted away but as a semi retired vehicle to drive around on some trails and dirt roads that would be fun. And I bet it wont be as easy as it is to replace floorboards in a classic Charger.
I bought a 1972 Plymouth Barracuda in 1978 with 60,000 miles for $1,200 because the back quarter panels and back bumper were starting to rust. The newer cars rust slower, but cost a lot more to buy used, especially a Lexus with 100,000 miles.
is there a way if you have alot of time to convert some of the rust back to steel i mean maybe a few inches around border or should that be done anyway seems like a pretty big piece of steel to lay into there
Let's see getting a list together of everything we need... #1. Everything. #2. See #1. Part-time labor can't possibly come out ahead on a vehicle like that classic car or not.
Dylan hey man love your channel and I got a question for you I got a Torino that needs a trunk pan can you send me the link from where you order yours thanks
You never heard Fred Flintstone complain about having know floor, happy to see someone with a passion for resurrection old Mopars, by the way are you up on your tetanus shots.

The most stressful RUclips video ever
Junkyard Digs hello
Really? I found it therapeutic....it's like cutting out cancer.
Don't sweat the gas tank. It'll buff out.

Awesome Video, you took care of business in the rusty truck and prepped a replacement part. Another few steps to getting her ready for PowerTour.
Now I know why u didnt pressure wash the interior, because it will blow off the floor
Definitely looks like a load of fun. Glad your saving a great Mopar. God Bless.

One thing is for sure, you have way more patience than i ever did! Patience is a virtue!!! Git er done! The car is coming right along.
I know it's a lot of work but at the end it all pays off keep up the good work I love your Channel it's real cool to see another classic muscle car getting saved and being put together the right way four years of enjoyment on the road God bless keep up the good work
Dylan, there is nothing better than being up to the elbows in grease, dirt, grime, cuts, busted knuckles etc!!!
You don't need floor boards they just add weight. Lol
Nice, that new floor is going to look great. Car is coming along nicely.
dylan mccool, the thinking mans cleetus mcfarland.

Love your Amish air chisel!!!
Awesome job, can't wait to see the new floor completely welded in
Can’t wait to see how it all turns out! Looking good

Keep up the good work, Dylan. Your efforts will be rewarded.
I was just 5 years old when that trunk was still fresh and clean. Boy do I feel rusty!

hey man for being a first time welder that's great man you had a good teacher
That intro was gold

Just seen all 69 Charger videos this evening, good work so far. I got myself a 68 Charger. Wishes from Christian, Denmark, Europe

I work in a body shop and for spot welds we us an air 1/4 belt sander for the spot welds and man it is so nice and easy to do welds like those
Good job on that nice and clean cut.
100/10 intro almost died from laughter but yeah at least it lives and wasn't a 2004 tundra

great work brother...

Beautiful gravel on that tank.
When the vehicle is done will you use a rust inhibitor like Krown or something similar to keep it in good shape and preserve all your hard work .
Nice job man.cant wait to see her ripping down the rd.
I feel like what happened here was that
Yo dude get in the trunk XD
YEAH lol dude
(Gets in trunk)
WHAAAAA HELP DUDE AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

FFS lol get a new spot weld drill bit or soak it in grease or PB or WD40
Been in nature's steam oven too long, got extra crispy! Entropy ain't kind, but we have the tools and the knowledge to fight it!
I think you should call this car the flying Dutchman

buys new piece of sheet metal has to saw in half🤣 oh the Joy's of building cars!
Trunk pan delete option.
Used to live in Pensacola. Been through Hazel Green a couple of times. Not much to see beyond that ginormous water tower.
you might be able to get the guy from diy gang to drill your ruvits for you he likes to do that .lol.your doing a great job
I was thinking the exact same thing. That dude looks like he really enjoys cutting out spot welds
Grab the coupon from Harbor Freight for there latex coated shop gloves. Hell there a buck a pair Dylan👍🏼
Yep...but Dylan...you're the man with the plan!
Hey Dylan the video was very good thanks
Man I tell you what, this north Alabama rain spell needs to get gone, love the videos man
FIRST
Not you too...
Junkyard Digs haha 👍
I wanted to be first Kevin 🤣 haha
@@DylanMcCoolVideo dude you need a respirator and some heavier gloves than that.......cringey
Gloves man gloves. Non of you guys use gloves. Ha I never get cut. Love the videos cant wait for completion
@ 0:01, a young Dennis Hopper slides out to tell us the bad news!
lol i was thinking the same thing if dennis hopper had a son this would be dylan
You gonna work day and night on it in the end you’ll see your work and proud about it. + rebuilding a cool car
Send ur gas tank to "my mechanics" channel. He will restore or make a new one for you 😂
Look like a lot of hard work
That intro, “we may have a problem.” Hahaha
Might want to consider a Plasma Cutter to help out with cutting all the metal
Plasma cutters suck on rusty metal.
still easier than grinder and drill
Awesome ! Didn’t even get your hair messed up ... lol
You could always put a fuel-cell off to the side and use that as your James Bond Escape tunnel
Loved your high speed power hammer technique! ;-) LOL
Fuck yes brother
Best intro before the intro 😂😂😂
Keep the the dream bro. It will pay of.
Great video Dylan! :)
Those spot weld bits rock for the first seven times you use them then they are horrible from dullness
is there a way if you have alot of time to convert some of the rust back to steel i mean maybe a few inches around border or should that be done anyway seems like a pretty big piece of steel to lay into there
9:13 insert "hello there!" Obi-Wan meme
with my experience: Dude put safety glasses on!! it's worth it
Today's forecast... Rust Rain! Wow, that tank is trashed!
What happen with the general Lee project car
Cool man your awesome you make great vids and I love old cars
The lightening scissors would have been real handy here.
Mopar magazine sells all those floor pans and trunk
Let's see getting a list together of everything we need...
#1. Everything.
#2. See #1.
Part-time labor can't possibly come out ahead on a vehicle like that classic car or not.
So cool! Keep it up!
Looks good man and also that floor pan was really rusted out but hey take it from a guys named Rusty lololol but nice work coming together man!!
Are you going to clean up the braces and spray with something that would stop the rust?
Well done man thanks for the great content!
How did the PB blaster work out for you?!
I’ve never seen a hammer move so fast!!!
Your theme song was in Wayne
Maybe i'm just getting lazy in my late 30's but I would have broke out an air chisel. And a new spot weld cutter.
That's how i remove them too ,I have a 1 1/2 wide curved bit that pops the spot welds pretty easy ,then grind the remains down after .
Dylan go to Daniel Restodan and check out his 63 Impala it could save you a lot of work in the future.
New trunk floor. What kind of shape are all those supports in? I'll bet most of those have to go too.
Below, I reacted a little early on safety! Keep working.
What did that spot weld cutter ever do to you?
Been there done that. Where's your 4" grinder with cut off wheels?
may I ask how much it cost to build the 440 motor itself?
I bet you really want a DeWalt Angle Grinder now.
Knowing 60s and 70s Mopars it’s probably more of a problem if your trunk floor doesn’t look like that. Mine did.
Mccool did you skip school to work on that charger....well that's better than what I was doing when I skipped school
Note to self: spot weld bits, meny 👍
