- Recently our small family sold our beachside home, looking to offload our mortgage and live a life filled with freedom.
We dreamed of owning our own homestead, nestled in nature, where we can raise our family and grow our own fruit and vegetables.
The motivation behind this lifestyle change, is the want to become more self sufficient, to take the slow road, live within our means and protect and nurture our family values.
After much searching we found the perfect place, Its not going to be easy, but we’re up for the challenge. And on this channel we’ll be sharing our journey, our highs our lows, and all the joy that comes in-between.
It's been a long time in the making, but we’ve finally arrived, welcome to Robinsbrook Homestead.

Congratulations on escaping from the treadmill of debt and stress.
This is what life was meant to be like.
Beautiful ❤blessings to this home enjoy 👍
Congratulations well deserved ❤
Congratulations. Love your gold adventures , and now also looking forward to seeing your family triumphs and growth. Best wishes from North Carolina USA. I watch your videos and wish I could drop my 6” dredge in some of those holes. lol. Good on ya. Beautiful family and home.
It’s beautiful! Congratulations 🎉
Well done bud u deserve it
LOVED this first episode!! You had an amazing idea, to get away from the grip of the bank and own your own place outright. And oh boy! What an awesome place you have chosen! Its idyllic!! A wonderful place to have your child grow up. I hope you fulfil every dream and idea you ever had - you all deserve it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for your beautiful comment!!
Absolutely loved this video - it is a great idea. I love your adventures but I love DIY as well. I hope you have many happy times in your new home.
I’m guessing this channel is tied to your original channel because I was already subscribed. 😊
So fabulous exactly what we did 43 years ago. Although things have changed now we're older, we've never regretted it. Best thing EVER for children. Best wishes.
Yeah when houses were affordable...
How about schooling and socialisation, sports etc?
Finding a woman with these kind of values is even rarer then all the gold nuggets you find, I wish you all the very best.
Made me tear up. Thank you!
@@robinsbrookhomestead Most welcome, I've shed a tear or two in seeing your guys happiness and adventures, please never stop.
Ah, I suspect she's rather lucky too!
Hi I am from India really getting a life partner like this is great great fortunate A lots of love 💕 n my good wishes to your both 🙏🤗
Loved this video. Been down kinda lately and have lost track of my goals in life. This video reminded me of hope for a better future and for growth. Yall are so fortunate to have this life. All of your hard work and perseverance has paid off. Thank you for filming this
Having followed you for many years and seeing you both reach this point, brings a lot of joy and really added a heap of emotional feeling to watching video.
I speak from experience, that you buy a house, you move into a house, then you make changes and put your own feelings into the house - finally it becomes a home. And you can always feel the difference between a house and a home.
Congrats to you both, excited to see what you bring to this amazing home.
Absolutely laughed till I cried when you lost power, as it was our intro intro to our little place. iI is now a constant where we live, a n isolated village in the NE on the shores of Bass Strait. You learn very quickly to have a little gas cooker, bbq , plenty of battery operated torches and lights, a good srore of candles, a good toasting fork and jafflemaker , big bucket of water for the bathroom and when the weather starts to get dicey we just fill, billys, buckets etc as a matter of course. Also hot water bottles come in handy. Just like camping.. Nothing better than laying in front of the fire, no power, no phones, no internet. Xx A truly beautiful hideaway and is going to be a wonderful life for your family.
Yes, it's incredible...
Reminds me of the years I grew up in the outback... Channel Country...
When 'the wet' came...
8 weeks of going nowhere and we never had mains electricty nor phone...
Yes, we used an old copper boiler and pioneer village style washing apparatus...
We had carbide lights, till we got a 32v generator...
with battery storage...
Wood stove with hot water on side... and for baths, we had 2x 44 gal drums welded together, and we lit a fire under them...
Water was 2 x 30' dams side by side that supplied the homestead and surrounding stock paddocks!
I am so looking forward to the different climate, nature and the different way to survive different conditions!
But yes, they'll be many more challenges to come as you carve out your space as you reconnect with nature!
Cheers
Oh so exciting guys! I’ve loved every minute of your new adventure! Thanks for taking us along with you on your new and incredible journey and I’m looking forward to each and every new instalment 🎉🎉🎉❤
Heartwarming new adventure, Rob, Erin and Scout, rocking the Robinbrook! With the name-change to the channel, we wandered in unexpectedly, into sweet nostalgic memories of the seventies when we were a kid, parents home-making a forties soldier's house, bottles stacked high along the fence, but deposit returns ended, so did their bottle savings fence account. Alterations and repairs, the constant blackouts, trouble with the dirty water from the mains, and that was in the mid seventies, suburban Melbourne, Springvale, home of the band, TISM, who played Launceston in February.
Your new home, charming building, beautiful setting, the birdlife is amazing, fearless Eastern Riflebird with the orange chest have a nice, loud continuous call. Look after the small shrubbery as shelter for them all, the kookaburra keeping down the numbers of lizards and probably snakes, another hazard to look out for.
You're tops for sharing this, Rob. It's in remembering since your working the shop and earlier wedding videography career, mixing it with some prospecting fun, been since a long road, and a winning leap forward with this adventure, it's beauties and challenges, good luck and much happy goodwill saving, banking and accumulating interest, you could bottle it, spirit of life, eau de vie, it'd be nonetheless no deposit, no return! Howzat for a full circle motif, so cheers, The Robinbrook Three! 🌦️🏡🐦👨👨👦❤
Omg that place is beautiful, guys! Congratulations 🙌 You three deserve it
We have a generator hard wired into our house. It can run the fridge, freezer, water pumps and a power socket so we can recharge our phones. This means that no matter what happens and as long as we have fuel we can stay in our home. Best investment ever as the power is often out in remote parts of Tassie. Best wishes to your family and congrats on your fab new property.
I am so green with envy right now. You are going to live your best lives at Robins Brook Homestead. ❤
Enjoy a wonderful life caring for this special place with all the birds you now call home ............
those birds poop all over your roof and then the rain washes it into your holding tanks - not safe - drill a well
Bingo! Always be cognitive of your surroundings, hidden or otherwise.
You have a way about you both that I find extremely calming - always leaving me wanting to slow down, breathe, and listen to the birds.
Thanks you for your sweet comment Rhys!
Wow. Fantastic property! This is going to be great to experience and watch your progress. Best wishes for a phenomenal success. 😊
Thank you for letting us into your home. What an idyllic place, beautiful bird life and peace and quiet ...
Wow! What a dream come true! And it is nearly ready-made, with flowers, vegetable and chickens! you didn’t have to rebuild a derelict cottage or carve a place out of the brush!! Congratulations!
A generator, housed outside in its own space to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, would be a great addition to an already amazing homestead for the short term fixing of the situation after the storms of winter roll through. I love your place! 😀
100% awesome !!
Fantastic move Rob, you will never regret this decision.
Born in Devonport, never knew Turners Beach got such good prices!!! I stayed there for a night a few months back. Really keen to know where you went? East, West, South, Central? We tired to get a cheap block in Zeehan (paid in full) as it was really affordable for us but someone from the UK purchased it before we could... Cost of living/housing crisis and the Gov is selling affordable land to people overseas. Good on you guys!
How exciting for you both mate 😀
Congratulations you 3. How wonderful!
Wow guys! What an amazing place to call your home! Loved every minute of your video, can't wait to see more ☺️ good luck! ❤️
If. Your creek flows. You could make a small affordable hyro generator to charge batteries to be a backup power supply..
GG😢
Me and my son watched it he is 8-years-old he loved it too
Idyllic environment altogether. A thoroughly delightful beginning for all three of you!!! Thanks for sharing. Aussie born, almost 80 yrs old; 50, in USA!
This is awesome! I live on a small farm surrounded by bushland with my family (and my parents - intergernational farm) and we grow some of our food and have livestock. It really is a fantastic way of life for kids.
Looking forward to following this channel and new venture. Congrats!
I wish you all good health peace and happiness in your new home Gorgeous baby T he birds are truly amazing . living with nature all around you Brilliant
Beautiful, absolutely...Beautiful..everything is just what you need. The House you've made your own. And now it's yours because of the work you've put into it. Well done Erin, Rob, and your son Scout.....Can't wait for the next episode of yours...Pete from Devonport.
Great adventures in homesteading await you. I’m in SE Arizona USA in a 2400 soft. Straw bale home on 35 acres in the desert SW 6 miles from the international border with Mexico. Been here 16 years. It’s a lot of constant work but you grow into it. You’ll love it too. Congrats, and good health, wealth, and happiness.
Amazing, what a beautiful slice of heaven you guys found ❤
Loved watching along guys! Keep the videos coming :)
many thanks for sharing your journey !
There bound to be a way to have a backup for a power outage, or even better if resources allow( , water, wind&solar) to even go off grid!
looking forward to toggle along!
The advantages of gravity-fed water! Definitely an option to consider for resilience against power outages which is just part of living in Tassie rurally. Though battery-backed solar might be a better option if you can afford it.
Absolute thrill to share your families joy Rob :)
Wow!! well done guys, thanks for sharing your adventure. Looks like you need a back up plan for power, bet you're working on that. Looking forward to your next post.
You are so lucky. Living the dream.
Congratulations. I'm looking forward to the next video. Great improvement so far.
I have so enjoyed your other trecking videos, exploring the wilderness and historic sites!
Loved the video...
Perhaps also load the video that explains how you came to make these decisions,
to become independent...
And be debt free!
I'm sure it would inspire others to follow your example
It's a wonderful place of peace you have been blessed to find...
And with the challenges of living remotely...
You may need a generator for power outages... or maybe solar with battery storage?
Looking forward to the next video...
Love both your energies...
Blessings to all ❤❤❤
I would like to abandon mainstream society as well. They always keep prying into our personal life’s.
Welcome to rural living, where most things are on a municipal scale. Back up generator, kero lanterns, solar if that's your thing. Or a gas BBQ and a camping shower for those times when the utilities fail. Next comes the chainsaw and a block splitter. Been there; still doing it; would not change a thing. Plant trees now for firewood in the future. Best of luck, good people.
And fruit trees... love some jam, pies, preserves and homemade wine.
Subscribed!
Cheers from sunny Florida.
Loved it ❤️ looking forward to seeing more
So cool! Keen to see it all unfold and what you guys turn the property into 😀
What a beautiful new home and loving the garden, chooks and the bird life smart move with the fire guard Rob well done mate looks fab. I suggest you guys look into off grid solar power and definitely invest in a diesel generator as diesel lasts much longer than petrol. Having the Kookaburras around are a great asset against snakes and you will get a good workout chopping up firewood. I spent 6 months in Tassie prior to 2000 so I know what the weather is like down there mainly cold lol hence why I moved back on the mainland. Best of luck and look forward to more videos and stay safe guys.
That was so enjoyable to watch, love the birds. Love it! 2k subscribers already, this is going to be huge 👏 I planted giant sunflowers here in Devonport back in January and got dozens of rainbow Lorikeets, it was amazing to film and just watch them. Congratulations on your hard work 👏🙌 looking forward to watching your videos
Best wishes from a fan in Canada. You are making me jealous. I am looking forward to more awesome videos.

Congratulations guys. What a fabulous place. Looking forward to watching your journey 😊
Congratulations you guys. You're awesome amd deserve it.. Cheers!!
There’s nothing like the intense excitement of your first home! Best of luck to you both! 😊
If you want the glass on the combustion heater to come up clean dampen some newspaper or paper towel then dab it in the ash and wipe the glass with it. You will be surprised how well it works.
Bluetti power pack may help you out with temp power outages .Many prospecting channels use and recommend them. CONGRATULATIONS ,Beautiful home and location.
Seems like you are living in the garden of eden. All the different species of birds An animals I think that is so 😎
"Baptism by fire" is an apt description of your new life adventure. This is a great journey you're on and your son and your future selves will appreciate and thank you for choosing this life. More adventures are right around the corner. I wish you all the best!
Thanks Rob, Erin and Scout for taking us on your journey. Fantastic to watch. It truly brings a smile to my face. All the best ❤

Well done guys! Doing this has definitely crossed my mind a fair few times lately !
Brilliant. I guess you’ve bought a generator by now. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻🙏🦘
Absolutely brilliant. So happy for you guys, warms the heart to see people doing so well. Look forward to following the adventure. Sincerely wish all three of you the best. Thanks for sharing the story with us.
Just discovered your channel, subscribed. What a cute family! Such a beautiful house and property.
Maybe Eco Flow can sponsor you with a solar battery package. It would be handy to have for the next outage.
I remember being where you two are now some decades ago. Enjoy. Also, I see a generator in your future.
Looking forward to more videos in the future this was a great watch! I enjoyed it
Congratulations Rob! Looks like a perfect house for your little family 😀

Wise move! Good luck with your new home and new channel! 🎉🥳
I love your place. Looking forward to your adventures. ❤
There is one thing missing from this gorgeous family scene , a dog!❤ I love the house, and adore all the birds you have, it almost reminds me of Snow White hehehe!
I agree wholeheartedly, just need to work on Rob hehe!! Thanks for your lovely comment!
The best way to live
Congratulations ❤ a beautiful home in a breathtaking location. The birds, the rain…😊😊😊 thank you for sharing your journey with all of us 🙏💜
I also did similar, although I built the house in the bush. Congratulations on your move to freedom. I have long since left that house and must say I miss it terribly, my 2 younger children aged 32 and 34 still talk about their fond memories of their life on the farm.
How nice, definitely need a generator.
You guys are amazing! Thanks for sharing your oasis!! Keen to see the development!
Oh no! Just moved in and already power outage. You will get used to it, plus you know how to survive. And the feeling of luxury when the electricity is back!
What a nice property. Good Luck!
Painting sucks 😝
OMGosh so beautiful. ❤ congrats.
Love all your Husbands videos I watch is Adventures throughout Tasmania my homeland. I love your new channel with your family also. Thanks for sharing with us.
Love your move. Very smart financially for the longer term. You will not regret it if you enjoy the lifestyle.
We have lived in a bushfire-prone area in the Adelaide hills for 36 years (No mains water. For the first 25 years only rainwater (2 tanks supplying 100,000 litres), and we make sure the tanks are full before each summer. We work on October 1st or thereabouts for our tank fills). Now we have "community" bore for summer top-ups, but still enforce the 1st October date to fill the tanks. The best investment we ever made was to purchase a UV filter about 12 years ago. It was not cheap at about Aud$2500 with an annual filter change of about $300 initially; now near $400. No bugs get though those big filters (there are 2 filters in the UV system), and we have had zero stomach upsets since the UV filter installation. The only things that might get through the filters are chemicals. So, if you keep those out, you are fine. As an extra precaution we run a benchtop filter jug. The full system is rainwater tank; then water pump; then UV filter; then household taps. A benchtop filter jug is used as an extra precaution for drinking water. Everything else is straight from the pump/UV filter to tap/shower etc.
For your garden/farm stuff you should look at the "Free Range Living" RUclips channel (They started essentially from scratch about 2 years ago). Not the same farmstyle as yours, though they do have chickens. Their veggie garden stuff might help, and if you want to run livestock on the larger "paddock" I thought I saw in your video they might also help you in that regard.
Thanks so much for all the info and support!
God is great. 💜🙏
AMEN!
Amen
Amen
cheers and best wishes from Burnie
