    A delicate portrait of Sussex based painter/designer Sophia Gray (sophiagraydesigns.co.uk).
    Shot with a custom inverted / vertical anamorphic setup - Aivascope 1.5x (Inverted) paired with a vintage 1940s Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm (17 blades!) and a Soviet 1950s Jupiter-9 85mm.
    The delivery aspect ratio is somewhat unusual in 1.25:1 - so to have minimal crop from original shooting aspect after the anamorphic vertical stretch.

    How much saturation did you boost up for this vintage lens? I just came from taking pictures of a friend at a park at 9 AM today and they’re all washed out. Maybe it’s because it’s taken from a 15 years old CCD sensor and shot on jpeg. I’m not sure what makes my images look so vibrant in one day and washed out the next day.

    • @kennyektar
      @kennyektar  3 месяца назад +1

      For the Zeiss Biotar I didn't have to boost the saturation a lot. Though for Jupiter-9 I had to push it quite far to match the other shots. I think it really depends on the lens coating quality and how well it renders the colours. Of course the sensor plays a big role as that kind of dictates how much you're able to push in post before it breaks down.

      @@user-dd1mk1qw8k You can check out my other video where it has a few shots with it mounted in its original configuration: ruclips.net/video/w9HamVEkEG8/видео.html&ab_channel=kennyip There's no vignetting on full frame when using focal length of 50mm and above.

      @@kennyektar Thankyou, that video mentions it’s the Pentax Takumar & Lomography Petzval. I was specifically curious about the Zeiss Biotar, do you have a video for that lens in aviascope correct orientation?

      @@user-dd1mk1qw8kAh I see! Sorry I don't have any Biotar + Aivascope in "correct" orientation footage at the moment. Will definitely upload some here whenever I managed to shoot something in that configuration :)

    How did they get the blur on the edges?

      Do you mean the compression blur on the frame edges? That's a combination of from biotar character and vertical anamorphic :)

    How did you solve the monitoring?

    • @kennyektar
      @kennyektar  3 месяца назад

      I monitored with a Freeworld Lut6s which kind of works but the de-squeeze value is not exact. I believe all the newer SmallHD ones have the vertical de-squeeze function

    This is really amazing buddy ! Do you have the possibility to de-squeeze it on a monitor ? Any kind of monitor that could handle vertical de-squeeze ?

      Thanks very much! I used a Freeworld Lut6s which kind of works but the de-squeeze value is not exact. I believe all the newer SmallHD ones have the vertical de-squeeze function.

      @@kennyektar Oh thank you ! Do you think that it could be something great to do with Cine Anamorphic Glass ? Like Blazar Remus 1.5x. Since it is PL mount i've heard that it could be just as easy to just mount it vertically ?

    • @kennyektar
      @kennyektar  5 месяцев назад

      @@thenotoriousmma974 I haven't used the Blazer Remus, but I'd imagine with PL mount lens it'd be much easier to mount vertically than an adapter like the Aivascope.

      @@kennyektar I was wondering, does it mean that it flares with vertical streaks too ? I don't know how much this could be annoying on the image

    • @kennyektar
      @kennyektar  5 месяцев назад

      @@thenotoriousmma974Yes the flare would be vertical when rotating the anamorphic block 90 degrees. I personally like that but I guess not everyone does - hence some would op for rotating the whole rig/sensor instead.
