Yes they are one of a few that keep pushing......such groove and the singing is getting killer, harmonies etc..... sounds like it could have came off the "Heavy Metal" soundtrack
Dear Lord I hope this band is actually tucked away somewhere making more music and they’re not really broke up forever! The progression of this band is unmatched and we need to know where else they can take us.
"You can’t please everyone. But I think a lot of those people who like our older material and might not dig this album in particular are listening to it looking for a certain sound. But there are many other bands out there who are doing exactly what they’re looking for, so I think they’ll be okay.” - J.D. Cronise Amen.
I freaking love this album. I was a late comer and got into The Sword right at Warp Riders, and I've loved everything they've released. This is probably my favorite now. It's so fucking groovy.
+scypher80 I was also a late bloomer myself as well. I think I heard first The Sword around when Apocryphon came out, but I first heard Gods of the Earth. The Sword is fucking awesome!!!
It sounds like they started the High Country album in 68-71, then woke up in 2015 and continued on. I love this band. Night City Limo was my business before I realized I hate people. These guys are multi-generational talented in stoner rock.
I really loved your guy's older stuff, and I was a little worried at first when you said you were experimenting. Worries are long gone now. This music is amazing, and The Sword remains my favorite band of all time.
I love this song, i love the lyrics. I love learning their riffs on guitar. Cant find a bad song. These guys are the only rock band thats really hooked me in a decade.
Saw em live right after Used Future dropped in a small city. The place was packed and energetic and they played for hours. I'm convinced they played every single song they had. One of the best nights of my life.
@@Hashbeast oh damn really ?! 😱 That's epic ! All the live shows i've heard his vocals seem a little worn out. If this is the case then fair do's man ! I totally understand
The coolest thing about Sword fans is that the banter on here always seems more civil than for other rock bands. The only other band with a fanbase on the same level as you righteous people is Clutch. Love the new material or hate it, it's groovy stuff and will always be in my immediate rotation.
I saw them October 18 here in Tulsa the new songs with the older songs it all sounded great they closed out the show with Freya it was epic everyone went crazy
Not The Sword I'm used to or was expecting, so at first it was a bit disappointing. But after separating myself from the first four albums, I'm really digging this. Keep it up guys, and I'll be picking this up on the 21st!
Why are people hating on this new stuff it is awesome, The Sword are one of the best finds for me in a very very long time all the albums slay and I know this one will to \m/
***** elitist love to cry about how the old stuff was better. goes for pretty much every band in metal. Just look at Mastodon, tons of people hate The Hunter and Once More Round the Sun, even though both albums are incredible
aaron well, once more round the sun DOES suck..even brent hinds says so... weak vocals, weak guitars...just boring and uninspiring......the hunter is amazing though...
aaron read his interview in guitar magazine smarty pants...quite different saying we sold out to your friends, while they are filming a making of album, vs a phone interview with a journalist you dont even know..and if he didnt say it, he would have come out by now saying so...bill wrote pretty much the whole album..brent said it wasnt epic OR interesting...
I feel like this band has grown along with my tastes, when i first heard them i was very into rock and was first moving into metal, so age of winters and gods of the earth were both great albums for me at the time (they were the only two out when i found the band, 2008) i later drifted from metal and came back around 2013 with a more power metally mindset looking for heavy but more vocal stuff, this was when i found apocryphon, fast forward to early summer 2015, i had not long ago found out about warp riders and really enjoyed the more psychedelic route it took, this was around the time i found my love for psychedelic music, then High Country dropped and god damn if i didn't fall in fucking love. I love this album, and I love the sword. Rock on \m/
The vocal harmonies on the chorus add a nice atmospheric effect to it. Nice guitar solo outro. It takes away from the song if you try to do too much with a solo. This was perfect 👌
great band! just the best. i hope they someday come to finland! here are many fans of this band. high country is great album but i like the apocryphton...i think i got it right. is the best album so far.
Probably the best lyrics music video i've ever seen. Actually, scratch that. THIS IS THE BEST. I fucking love space and i love how they used constellations for the lyrics
I love this shit... every band needs to change and try new things but The Sword still retains their style even when they do go with something new. You just KNOW that you're listening to them when their songs play.
Absolutely killer tune. I love when a band has the guts to continue to innovate and write/play/record music that they enjoy and want to play instead of taking the easy way and recording the same shit over and over again to try to make whiny children happy.
This music is fucking brilliant and perfect and beautiful. It stands on its own, irrelevant of and without comparison to the also awesome prior material by The Sword.
This new album rocks from what Ive heard so far! Great heavy guitar and bass riffs along with killer break downs and solos . Well crafted classic metal sound...this is the only band who arnt hiding behind anything they fooking kill it live! I saw them open for metallica in calgary and were far better than the headline booya sword come back to calgary on this album tour
I listened to the first lyric video the band posted, High Country I think, and I didn't like it the first time around, but it grew on me. However, The Dreamtheives, Mist & Shadow, and Empty Temples all had me from the first chord. Probably every The Sword album has a long that I don't like at first, but it just grows the more you listen. Can't wait for the new Album, and I hope to catch you guys on Tour.
such an unfairly bashed album. this is a GREAT album...Used Future, now there is a snoozer lol....will ALWAYS love this band, just hope they get back together and make a METAL album! SOOOO good to see live too!
Few notes, this is only song 4/15, the full album isnt out yet, so if you really love the swords I just feel like you should wait till the album is out then decide if you think they lost their balls or not.
its fucking guuaranteed that if this album wasnt the swords and it was some other bands. People would rave about how good it is, fanboys are lame as fuck. gods album has its place in history and i can always go back to it. light one and give it a go this album will be epic.
The Man people dont get into a band thinking, "i sure hope they COMPLETELY change their sound in 6 years!" i didnt start eating steak because i hoped it would start tasting like tuna in the future....
at first i was a little dissapointed, but damn that album grow on me fast !! really like the more mellow style, never was much of a stoner fan to begin with but still Apocryphon is still my favorit but this comes pretty close
I am hearing Steppenwolf.... Crosby, Stills & Nash......Jefferson Starship.....Its really old skool, with new skool technology... I dig it....Sounds like the guitars might be tuned to standard tuning, or maybe Eb.... Not C....lol....... Some of their shit has been VERY HEAVY....Cool track..
I find it funny how there are more comments complaining about metal elitism than actual comments supporting metal elitism. Just shut up and enjoy the music. It's still metal, and it's still good.
I think people should stop bitching about the "sound" of the record, I think is awesome to have slower songs. Imagine this song live followed by Lawless Land or Apocryphon ... amazing dynamic change. Also I am definitively watching the Heavy Metal movie with this in the background.
This album contrasts pretty significantly with their earlier stuff as a whole. However, if you shuffle this album with the rest, it seems to fit right in. :)
More hatorade to drink up boiz! Another great song that can't shake chodes from the comment section! My only problem is turning the music up louder and thinking of new ways to point out haters can't constructively criticize music... "I want more powerchords" - "Stop singing" - "Don't change you're image"
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK HAPPENED TO THIS VIDEO? IT HAS COMPLETLY CHANGED!!!!! THIS IS THE MANDELA EFFECT IN YOUR FACE !!! THE BACKGROUNDS ARE DIFFERENT AND THE GUITAR SOLO IS DIFFERENT! I HAVE WATCHED THIS VIDEO 100 TIMES! AND NOW IT IS COMPLETLEY CHANGED! SOMEBODY ELSE OUT THERE HAS TO FEEL ME ON THIS!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!
+Edward Bowers it's funny you say that because I heard a song today called bungle in the jungle by Jethro tull that is eerily similar this song... I love the sword and dream thieves has become one of my faves but apparently demons have remixed it and the video too
The sword is literally the best rock band in the last 10 years.
Chris Mccarron These guys, Rivals Sons, Graveyard, and The Sheepdogs have saved my opinion of rock music, honestly.
MattAaronHarper What about Greenleaf!?
Yes they are one of a few that keep pushing......such groove and the singing is getting killer, harmonies etc.....
sounds like it could have came off the "Heavy Metal"
soundtrack
Sword is great but not the only one. You just have to find them.
Definitely one of few bands that get me genuinely excited about new music these days.
Dear Lord I hope this band is actually tucked away somewhere making more music and they’re not really broke up forever! The progression of this band is unmatched and we need to know where else they can take us.
They're going to be playing a show later this year, so if that goes well then there may be some hope.
"You can’t please everyone. But I think a lot of those people who like our older material and might not dig this album in particular are listening to it looking for a certain sound. But there are many other bands out there who are doing exactly what they’re looking for, so I think they’ll be okay.” - J.D. Cronise
Amen.
What ever. This is fuckin lit....I love their newer even more retro sound
Nice
I freaking love this album. I was a late comer and got into The Sword right at Warp Riders, and I've loved everything they've released. This is probably my favorite now. It's so fucking groovy.
When i heard their music for the first time I felt nostalgic, but also refreshing and after that I was hooked.
+scypher80 That's also why I like High Country so much, because it's so groovy. Boogie down!
+scypher80 I was also a late bloomer myself as well. I think I heard first The Sword around when Apocryphon came out, but I first heard Gods of the Earth. The Sword is fucking awesome!!!
Hell yea
It sounds like they started the High Country album in 68-71, then woke up in 2015 and continued on. I love this band. Night City Limo was my business before I realized I hate people. These guys are multi-generational talented in stoner rock.
I really loved your guy's older stuff, and I was a little worried at first when you said you were experimenting. Worries are long gone now. This music is amazing, and The Sword remains my favorite band of all time.
I like it when bands explore different sounds. music is art, you can't always sound the same.
Easily the most underrated band of the last twenty years. Thanks for the great albums.
I love this song, i love the lyrics.
I love learning their riffs on guitar.
Cant find a bad song.
These guys are the only rock band thats really hooked me in a decade.
I'm seeing them this week. Can't wait! This show should rock!
+Forrest Aguirre Same man!
+The Wild Child are you in Madison?
+Forrest Aguirre Minneapolis, close enough though haha
+The Wild Child Okay, so you'll see them Friday. I'm seeing them tonight.
+Forrest Aguirre I just bought tickets to see them in May, didn't even know they were on tour! Already excited
This sounds so fun to play. The Sword, for me, never disappoints.

I totally agree. Clutch and The Sword fans seem to be on the same wave length and I thoroughly enjoy both bands 🤘
I hope that the entire album is one long psychedelic voyage like this. FIGHT ME!
I believe you got your wish.
This is nothing short of EXCELLENT!
Wow, loved that early Sabbath stuff! Their sound is really developing...
How can anyone dislike this? It rocks.
This song kicked ass last night in Rochester. Hell, everything they played did. Old and new.
I saw them October 18 here in Tulsa the new songs with the older songs it all sounded great they closed out the show with Freya it was epic everyone went crazy
These dudes shred. Only discovered them recently in the last few years but i have listened to their work so much. Its so god damn good
It's the main staple for my work commute or driving most places. Just put their playlist on and drive ❤️
The melody improved so much, I love it.
Not The Sword I'm used to or was expecting, so at first it was a bit disappointing. But after separating myself from the first four albums, I'm really digging this. Keep it up guys, and I'll be picking this up on the 21st!
This album sold me 110% during their tour lately. Unreal.
I remember first time I saw them live was in Columbus Ohio 10+ years ago . EMPTY bar . was F'n EPIC !
Why are people hating on this new stuff it is awesome, The Sword are one of the best finds for me in a very very long time all the albums slay and I know this one will to \m/

The Sword rules! Best metal band in this generation. And probably last generation too!
+Debby DePrati but the guitars and vocals are better on OMRTS than on The Hunter.... But none of it holds a candle to Crack the Skye unfortunately.

I love this album, and I love the sword.
Rock on \m/
My friends hated this record. I love it. Great vibes. This is my 2nd fav tune by them behind lawless lands.
The vocal harmonies on the chorus add a nice atmospheric effect to it. Nice guitar solo outro. It takes away from the song if you try to do too much with a solo. This was perfect 👌
Low country is what sold me on this band back in 2016
One of the best bands ever. I loved the 1st 2 albums many years ago. Just rediscovering them again after 10 years. Sad I neglected them this long.
This has Don Felder's "Takin' a Ride" all over it!!!!!!!! I love this band.
I personally love all of The Swords music this stuff is awesome keep it up guys!
this is brilliantly mellow. love it!
great band! just the best. i hope they someday come to finland! here are many fans of this band. high country is great album but i like the apocryphton...i think i got it right. is the best album so far.
They have actually played a couple of shows here, always in Helsinki though so I haven't seen them live.
High Country is a super groovy album. I love it.
I am so grateful for this band! Their music helped me get threw some really hard times as of recent!!!
Now THAT is some good music! 10/10
They are here in Memphis Tuesday night omg cant wait... Awesome !!!
These guys are beyond brilliant!!!
Probably the best lyrics music video i've ever seen.
Actually, scratch that. THIS IS THE BEST.
I fucking love space and i love how they used constellations for the lyrics
I found this by accident but I’m glad I did! This is awesome 🤩
If you haven't heard low country by the sword you have to RIGHT NOW.
@@chazilton someone on here combined the high & low country version of Seriously Mysterious and it's pretty sick
I love this shit... every band needs to change and try new things but The Sword still retains their style even when they do go with something new. You just KNOW that you're listening to them when their songs play.
New favorite band, straight up.
Into the cosmos high as hell with the sword goddamn such a killer jam
Absolutely killer tune. I love when a band has the guts to continue to innovate and write/play/record music that they enjoy and want to play instead of taking the easy way and recording the same shit over and over again to try to make whiny children happy.

absolute favorite of the sword, its amazing

Just happens to be my favorite song on their new album!
This is absolutely stellar.
The sword is always right on time when I ask the ether for ear magic. Feelin' like Freyr.
awesome grooves 👍🏼
this is about death, and embracing our travels through the afterlife to tuhe next dimension. breautiful song
One of my favorite ones to sing to
Wasn't sure about this album with a couple of the other songs that were released so far, but this track is fucking AMAZING.
This is phenomenal.
Reminds me of the Heavy Metal movie soundtrack (which ironically isn't very heavy) . Love that shit.
Mac Smith I was going to say the same thing. sounds like Montrose. they probably got a couple ideas from sammy
Mac Smith or more like takin a ride by don felder..
+Mac Smith Totally what I was thinking. Can't wait to see them live next week!
Bingo!! I was just saying that to my brother! Great fucking tune :)
Errrrr, All Of You - Don Felder :)
So much amazeballs going on
I hope at least 2 of the 15 songs have mind altering solos and bone shattering chuggy riffs.
such an unfairly bashed album. this is a GREAT album...Used Future, now there is a snoozer lol....will ALWAYS love this band, just hope they get back together and make a METAL album! SOOOO good to see live too!
Mac you said it perfectly.
Amazing
love this song
Few notes, this is only song 4/15, the full album isnt out yet, so if you really love the swords I just feel like you should wait till the album is out then decide if you think they lost their balls or not.
A fan from the start
Awesome as always, guys :)
Sounds like 70-80's rock i fucking love this.
I bet this sounds amazing on vinyl
+Sherman Smith Oh, shut up.
its fucking guuaranteed that if this album wasnt the swords and it was some other bands. People would rave about how good it is, fanboys are lame as fuck. gods album has its place in history and i can always go back to it. light one and give it a go this album will be epic.

To bad they broke up... should have toured one more time ....killer band
Funny how I'd for whatever reason been listening to BOC's Mirrors lately. This could fit on there easily.
at first i was a little dissapointed, but damn that album grow on me fast !!
really like the more mellow style, never was much of a stoner fan to begin with but still Apocryphon is still my favorit but this comes pretty close

i just descover this ! omg that rythm !
there are few bands like the sword, chill tones like this. purson, jess and the ancient ones, anything else?
Found this thanks to Chris Cole‘s X Games Real Street Part...thanks man great Music
Stereos never go loud enough for this kind of band. I'm gonna buy a PA system.
Man.. I am trippin out..!!
Great Stuff!
It's like ozzy mixed with clutch/cky. Fucking amazing.
I would say it's more like Blue Oyster Cult
+Trans8010 That's exactly what I was thinking.
+Trans8010 Indeed and empty temples has that Thin Lizzy vibe I can dig it.
I like the new album for its differences but i still want to see some long instrumentals that kick ass,
This album contrasts pretty significantly with their earlier stuff as a whole. However, if you shuffle this album with the rest, it seems to fit right in. :)
very throwback
The beginning reminds me of "Born To Go" by Hawkwind.
These dudes here, fahk. Awesome at the least.
0:33-0:41 that section sound so much like Black Sabbath
Great shit
Just lght up and listen, it's great music, although I do prefer their earlier raw under produced sound compared to the clean sound of this track.
i still really like this, its pretty light but i dont mind
classic
Factorial influences:
60s - Coven
70 - BÖC
80 - Motörhead (riff)
90 - Kyuss
00 - The Sword (lack of creativity)
10 - Ghost
Verdict: Very Good!
Im hearing blue oyster cult which is praise indeed

This sounds like it should be playing in the South Park episode where Kenny trips on cat piss the entire show.

same here. it's changed.
+Edward Bowers the mix is completely different too doesn't even sound like the same recording ...
+Silent-tripper-of-the-sane still an awesome song though 😄 Jethro Tull's version is good too lol
+Edward Bowers it's funny you say that because I heard a song today called bungle in the jungle by Jethro tull that is eerily similar this song... I love the sword and dream thieves has become one of my faves but apparently demons have remixed it and the video too
VDMX?
I can't wait to see The Sword in NOLA at One Eyed Jacks!
