I just came across your channel by looking for how-to concrete countertop videos...then this was posted while watching Outdoor Kitchen Part 6! As a web map developer and completely noob woodworker, I am in LOVE with this video. Subscribed, liked, notified!
We can only watch and drool with envy with some of these projects for the past 2 years. Can't afford any of these CNC, Glowforge etc. This is very entertaining and informative though if not practical like what you used to craft.
Many enjoy my Channel who don't do woodworking at all, but view it to see what I'm up to next. The entertainment factor. I still use drills and saws but view the CNC and Glowforge as just another tool in my Shop that has its uses.
Tray came out great. Lasers are great thing to have, but unless you're well off and like play with wood, or you're trying to start a business, which probably wouldn't start with a $6000 laser that I have to learn how to use, or expand your business, it's just a cool tool I wish I had. Already have a CNC router that I haven't quite mastered yet. It would be nice though, and the discount is a good thing!
Great project using the laser engraver April. I noticed in one of your other videos that you had a trotec and I wanna say a universal laser engraver. How do you like those? I got into laser engraving with a Universal Laser system prior to retiring from the military here in Texas but since had to sell due medical issues back in 2016. As a wood hobbyist as well in central Texas in my spare time I have been wanting to get back into engraving. Your thoughts on the Glowforge vs. trotec or universal? Hope you have a great one and keep up the great videos.
Hey April, I need some of your advise , on a trim mix, in my laundry room, just spent 1500 on my material an tool, an I just finished the floor today an got my boards stained, but needing ur advise, cause u are 💣
Espectacular April, pero me da mucha pena que poco a poco, por estas fantasticas máquinas, se esté perdiendo la profesión de muchos oficios, y con ello a los grandes profesionales y grandes maestros----
The size of the tray is what you want, so did not make a template for the tray, just the handle. This way you can customize it to your taste. Thanks for watching.
The Glowforge looks like it'd be very useful for cutting out router templates for flush cutting to. The CNC just seems like it's too big and you have to spend a while fastening things down whilst with the Glowforge you just place in the wood and looks like it's done as fast or faster.
I also live at Canyon Lake and I’ve been following your RUclips videos for awhile now. I also have a Glowforge Pro which I love working with. Can’t wait to try this technique.
I’ve been watching your channel for a long time and had no idea you were at Canyon Lake! I’ve been teaching at Smithson Valley MS for 14 years. Small world!
Hi April, I stand amazed! You have such incredible skills, and your serving tray is a work of art, it's so beautiful, I'd hang it on my wall as a showpiece! This laser technology, is something else! A great entertaining video, and I love your commentary💗🌹
April, you're kidding ! all this time following your videos, then seeing you with the "tool time guys", and you live here in Canyon Lake ! My wife is on her 2nd Silhouette and "hinted" about that Glowforge thingy... hope she doesn't run into you at Brookshire Brothers !! Keep up the good work !
Love the tray...thanks to this vid, I now know how to get to the "SHED"...be there soon to visit you and ur mom. BUT, just a suggestion...instead of using screws on the handles, how bout using glued in dowels to secure it....no worries about splitting then. For your mom, I'm her oldest friend on FB.
Precioso trabajo. Hermosa combinación de resina y madera. Y no te enojes tanto! A todos nos puede pasar! Jaja! Abrazo! Cuídate bien! Germán, Montevideo, Uruguay.
Thank you for your kind words. I haven't always been able to do the complicated things I can now. Start small and build your confidence and skill level. You will love the feeling of seeing something you built. Thanks for watching.
Could you not have used the Glowforge's camera to reposition the glued-up and filled tray bottom for the raster cut of the streets and text to get it positioned correctly? Great project, by the way.
Laser working is awesome 😎

WOW!!! That machine is so impressive. Thank's for sharing April.
So the Glowforge requires exhaust ventilation. What do you do with the exhaust?
That's awesome April

Excellent idea 💡 congratulations

I LOVE CANYON LAKE! I was stationed at Randolph AFB in 1985-88. We used to camp and rent boats at Randolph Recreation Park!
It's a gorgeous part of Texas for sure
@@AprilWilkerson how much did the graphic designer work cost you to make the lake map file?
Very much skilled...and all the tools you have are amazing!
Looks like a fantastic starter project.
I use my laser to cut my maker mark into my projects
Thanks! That's awesome!
What a dynamite idea….I’m going to make one this weekend! You never cease to amaze, April!
Please do!

She who dies with the most toys, Wins. LOL. You are amazing, April. 👍
I'm from Temple Texas! Hello!!

Did you do the epoxy in the Glowforge engraved board?
Very good quality and good working

Your skills are constantly growing.Fun to watch!

Espectacular April, pero me da mucha pena que poco a poco, por estas fantasticas máquinas, se esté perdiendo la profesión de muchos oficios, y con ello a los grandes profesionales y grandes maestros----
Are you using 1/2" lumber and how wide and long did you make the tray? I didn't see any plans on your site but I did order the template
The size of the tray is what you want, so did not make a template for the tray, just the handle. This way you can customize it to your taste. Thanks for watching.
Love your projects
Thanks!
This looks so cool! I grew up on the Trinity River and I’ll have to keep this in mind.
Qué genial es ésa máquina. Puedes hacer infinidades de proyectos. Felicidades. Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
🙏🇮🇩🇮🇩
Love your videos.
Thank you!
Are you changing your video release date from Sunday to Friday April? Or is this a bonus video for this week?
I so want a Glowforge. Such a great technology.
It’s called a laser. You don’t need a glow forge brand. There are many others on the market for less money.
Great suggestion. Thanks.
Very cool April!! Dope serving tray...
Fantastic. 10+

Nice tray and a perfect way to serve that beer from the Netherlands. Enjoy.
Love it!
Beautiful tray and handy engraver.....👍

Good old Canyon Lake!
Use to camp there all the time...
Love canyon lake and my glowforge! Due for a trip up there.
Beautiful tray April! Nice idea!
Meticulous tray job! April, any Glowforge etchers to detail 4 x 8' plywood? Go big, go Texas!
Precioso trabajo. Hermosa combinación de resina y madera. Y no te enojes tanto! A todos nos puede pasar! Jaja!
Abrazo! Cuídate bien! Germán, Montevideo, Uruguay.
Awesome project. In addition three things I like in the same video: woodworking, April Wilkerson, and LASERS (frikin lasers LOL)
>=)Grin No shoes were hurt. LOL, The cut-off of the lake looks like a dragon. When you pulled it out. Beautiful tray.
Yes! Thank you!
@@AprilWilkerson Sorry the devil made me say it. It is a beautiful tray.
I love canyon lake. Didn’t know you were from there
Nice work. The way you work and explain stuff everything looks so easy. I wish I was so skilled like you. Can't wait to see your next project.
Thank you for your kind words. I haven't always been able to do the complicated things I can now. Start small and build your confidence and skill level. You will love the feeling of seeing something you built. Thanks for watching.
Nice job April! Do you think you’ll use the laser to experiment with any more of those wood rings you hung in the shop?
This is really helpful. I’ve been wondering what to do with my laser.
Could you not have used the Glowforge's camera to reposition the glued-up and filled tray bottom for the raster cut of the streets and text to get it positioned correctly?
Great project, by the way.
I was wondering the same thing.
Amazing work. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thanks for watching!
nice tray
