JennaP46 : I was 3 when I get to SEE Todd sing 🎵 Hello it’s Me On Tv Talk Show 1972 or 73. My Mom made Lunch Or dinner Hello it’s me was on Radio.. She Turned Tv On & I Watched Who Sang Hello It’s Me.! My mother Said that’s Todd Rundgren.! To me His Music is personal & if you want to hear it you’ll find it.! He’s Talented in his music & I love how he does Not Broadcast it all Over.!
Wow. A hook-laden vocal, in tune from beginning to end, one that could be cut straight to a radio single - plus another super cool soul music chord change - and a lyric with literary value, and hey, it's about literacy There must be no end to the brilliance of Todd Rundgren. Cat is to me deeper than any pop- star ever, even high minded ones like Elvis Costello, David Byrne, Partidge of XTC, Thomas Dolby, M Stipe, even Bowie, Bolan,, Prince. And add quite a few producers who although great could not multi-task on demand, EG, improve a lyric with a felt pen, then cut a guitar solo that sounds like.a BSA motorcycle climbing a hill. Todd as a composer transcends rock & fits into the world of Smokey, Stevie, Curtis, Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Manilow, Sondheim, Jimmy Webb.
In 1977 this was thrilling for me. I saw him live last Saturday at the John Curtain Hotel. I saw him around this period in Michigan. He was wonderful Saturday. Check out the Todd Rundgren radio on Facebook to see some clips posted from the night, it’s a closed group.
What is love ... something that makes me feel...... something.... warm.... elated... more..... needed... excited.... desired... wanted...... wanting.......
up and down... love goes.. a high and a low.. that makes us feel.. wondering why... we do or not... want... to or not..... love.... one or another... the spin takes us on to try or not to be the love ... one looks for... that wants us to.. do we... fall.. in with that one.. that wants us to.. be their one... to love.. well we let them love us... will we love them..
I love that synth solo. Nowadays, of course, there are portable, fully-weighted, 88-key MIDI controllers which make for perfectly acceptable substitutes for a real piano. But back then, if a song had a piano part, you had to figure out an alternative. And badrogue66's right on the money: Those guys are great backup singers - they sing better than a lot of so-called "lead" singers.
Have you ever seen a band so uptight to perform a song? Look at them. They're squeezing every ounce of effort to sing and play this. Why? The arrangement. Its tuff to keep up with a effin god, who somehow has no problem. Thanks Todd
yeah the vocal track is perfect - crazy good for a live take - was in next room and said, wait a sec, this is freaking VHS Rockpalast, not the single mix
Todd is from the Philly area. Every band from that area had killer musicians as back up singers. Utopia was no different. Hall and Oates was another example. it's the Philly sound. Just treat yourself to The Last Ride song for example.
Xanax really~~~That drug did not exist then~~~Probably, hitting up some acid..enjoying .but feeling a little bit"mellow""..Listen to the beginning ...LOL
This song has everything. Perhaps the most complete live song ever. Arrangement, vocals, harmonies, musicianship, and most of all......emotion.
I'm still listening to this old incredibly beautiful Todd,is anyone else?
Yes, It's Great Todd Rundgren Music.
Almost daily

Truly a Rundgren Masterpiece. Vocals are incredible. Great harmonizing.
“I think I am falling in love with the singer”...again. Wish he would share his life with mine. ❤️ Love ❤️ since ‘77 and always will.
Cant get over how good the rest of the group sings while playing. One of the very best back up band singers Ive heard.
