In 79 my Pappaw bought 2 beefmaster bulls and said they threw the fastest growing calves and some of the best looking calves he ever raised and kept the breed goin all through the 80’s and into the 90’s until the particular packers at the time started docking them for their ears and for their extra brisket skin in the front and they weren’t making as much money as they used to so Pappaw then got into Brangus bulls and no doubt made good calves but not near as good lookin as the beef masters. Of course we’re in Kentucky and the popular breeds change some over the years but still I grew up seeing Pappaws beefmasters and liking them and wished we still could raise them like we used to.
