Vegeta is scared of him because his whole life he was raised being told about THE legendary super saiyan. He was basically told his whole life the Legendary Super Saiyan had power beyond anyone else's. And when he realizes Broly IS the Super Saiyan of Legend, he realized they were doomed.

Impossible Fusion, Super Gogito Well in most cases that would be the definition of dying, But I guess this is the dragonball universe and you can get wished back to life. But yeah since Vegeta was already dead he would have just stopped existing.

I'd suggest watching the next part after this because they still skipped a bit of the fight between goku and broly from the other video's you watched.

Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan, essentially a Saiyans God. Vegeta and most other saiyans were brought up thinking this power is unsurmountable.
It's essentially if one of us tried to fight God in his mind, which is why it's impressive that he overcame that fear
after goku starts fighting again. theres a scene where broly is literally jumping up and down on gokus stomach pushing him into the ground
lol, so far all you missed was broly giving a massive beat down to goku, but really you got the crucial stuff. how about ssj3 goku vs lord beerus? :)
Toei likes to prop up Goku and shame Vegeta (not just making him job). AT notes Vegeta as the better fighter and leader (Piccolo is better still). The old man can barely remember the details of his own story (even as he wrote it). Vegeta acts like he was beaten, but he's undefeated against Goku (even spending much of the series stronger than him).
The guy makes his own moves (named ones never get used more than once) including his own version of Roshi's life's work (Galick Gun would have to be stronger than the Kamehameha as KKx3 Goku was at 24K while Vegeta was at 18K yet the beams were tied until Goku resorted to KKx4 for 32K in a series where just 20% more power makes for a one-sided beating yet Vegeta shook off the attack).
You've just got to be happy with the moments he is given when in Toei's adaptation. Generally, he's going to be shit on (often misrepresented in character too). Vegeta came a long way from who he was (becoming a better father, husband, friend, lover, etc. than Goku *not that this is saying much considering how simple that battle-junkie, brain-damaged hick is*).
This movie was a fun one to be sure. The motivation of Broly was good (King Vegeta being threatened by the high PL of the baby), but his focus on Goku was ill-conceived (mad about crying and remembering that). The finish was the usual ass-pull from them. There wasn't much they could do to actually take this foe down at this point. Were this operating in the main continuity, something like a ki disc would work fine, but in filler land you can tank those, catch them, etc.
It is a little odd they didn't opt to have Broly's tail factor at any point (could even lead to a transformation were a moon present *going fully into the old golden ape depiction*). A weakness like that (having it grabbed to subdue him) is something elites trained to deal with, but Broly wasn't really raised around those types. Shouldn't know how to sense powers either (another thing they could take advantage of *as with a technique such as Solar Flare*). His father could easily have taught him 'flight' (being that pretty much every warrior off Earth knew it *though that shouldn't be the case*).
The one-track obsession with Goku only gets worse in the follow-up film (the third is a travesty). That form of his is neat for seeming to pull in power to make it his own (over time). The modifier isn't quite at SS2's level, but improving your base by using it isn't bad. Video games treat 'legendary' as a path all its own (Legendary states for 1, 2, 3, etc.).

Some time on your own time you should watch the new Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie. You will love the story, and they do Vegeta MUCH better in it, pleanty of comedy, action, slap stick, and family oriented storytelling you love. Very much suggested!!!

if you think about it... it was smart that Vegeta didn't want to fight. Throw away your silly Canon for a sec and remember it's only a movie. The characters are rarely gonna act the same if you ask me. We just don't like how scared he is.

It's because of how much Vegeta believes in the legend and how strongly he flaunts being a saiyan that he was hit with the reality of the situation the hardest. To Goku, he was just another over powered challenge.
