- I feel terrible for everyone who is still stuck at home and while this isn't the most exciting video I've ever put together, I wanted to bring the outside in to those who can't get out right now. We'll walk the south end of Fort Myers Beach and you won't believe how different the beach is after all the storms we've been having. Plus we'll see a few critters and I even found a few keeper shells.
Here is the link to my How to Clean Urchins video: • How to clean urchins. ...
Thankyou for the walk yes being inside has been horrible...i live by the sea in italy with mountains behind....just pebbles no sand so your walks give memories of my birth area in england...im recovering from the loss of my husband watching your exploits with the shells and your so relaxing voice teaching me so much on my beloved shells thank you keep up the vidios so lovely
Thanks for taking the time to write me a little note. I am so glad you enjoy my videos and I am very sorry about the loss of your husband. I have a lot of time to think at the beach and I often think of my friends and family who aren't here anymore. The beach has a way of healing I think. Thanks for watching the videos and letting me know I'm being watched even over in Italy! ❤
Thank you for Sharing your beach walks. I know it’s really hard to beachcomb and video at the same time. I think you do a great job!
barbara anderson Thank you Barbara! I figure if I get more practice I can make my videos perfect ☺️ Thank you for watching!
Wow, I've never seen Ft. Myers like that. Crazy
your videos and voice in general is so dang relaxing. Never stop making them!!
Aww shucks - thank you! I promise I'll keep bringing you with my on our beach walks :)
Thank you so much for the amazing beach walks. I look forward to them so so much. The beach is my favorite place in the world
It's truly my pleasure. I love sharing my favorite place in the world with others! Thank you so much for watching!
You are a good beach ambassador
32xIch6m4 Thank you! 🙏🏼
I absolutely love your videos, they are always so calming and it is always interesting to see what you find at the beaches 🐚🌊☀️
Awww - thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my videos. I'll keep them coming!
That was a little unnerving seeing the ocean come up onto the beach that high ! I’m sure that happens more than we know !
Storms can do some crazy things to our waters down here for sure!
The gulf gets temptestuous. Thanks for showing us. Stay safe.
It sure does!!! Always happy to share my adventures.
Yet another fun upload! I totally understand we can't possibly spot everything, but I believe I see a fairly large black Lion's Paw at position 19:45? You had zoned in on a Sand dollar and apparently failed to notice the Lion's Paw. So fun to tag along on your hunt. Thank you and stay safe.
I would have kicked myself if I really had missed a Lion's Paw but I see the shell you're talking about. That's a discolored oyster shell - luckily! Some of the oyster shells really do have that "hand" look to them. Whew! I would have been so bummed if it was a Lion's Paw! I did find a Lion's Paw on Captiva. Not sure if you've had the chance to watch this one but it was a stellar shelling day! ruclips.net/video/jjQXBxGJxL0/видео.html
I really enjoy “ checking out the beach” with you! 😀
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for coming along with me!
I would be in my glory, beautiful beach, I love those beautiful urchins, both sides of cockles, and that angel wing. Wish I was right there, I would love to be that somebody that you leave those shells for! You are so sweet to think of all the other shelters! There was a really pretty purple coquina I would have scooped up so fast! Great vlog as always, thanks for sharing 🤗
Judy Prezeau Thank you so much! I have so much fun on the beach and I’m happy I can share my walks and all the neat things I find on the beach with others. Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the calming video!! Be safe and healthy out there 😊
You are so very welcome. I promise I'll keep the videos coming!
Those urchins are calling my name-love them!
They were EVERYWHERE!!! They're so cute those little guys.
Thanks for the video!
You are most welcome!
I’m still watching allllll your videos. Lol I’m obsessed, you should do giveaways with shells I would love it! Esp since I can’t get there right now
I have! I did 2 painted shells giveaways on RUclips and recently I gave away a clock, but I ran the giveaway on Instagram. It was SO MUCH easier! Make sure you follow me over there for future giveaways!
Nice finds!!! Love watching the stormy waves!!!🌊
Patty Valinote Not too shabby a haul considering I wasn’t even really shelling right?
SWF Beach Life you mentioned you from up North and I think in another video you mentioned New Jersey Beaches, is that where you are from? Thanks 😊
Patty Valinote Yes - I moved down here from NJ. I was tired of the winters, traffic and taxes! Florida is awesome!
SWF Beach Life I am from Pennsylvania about 25 miles southwest of Philadelphia. LBI was my hang out many years ago. Thanks for sharing!!!
Patty Valinote We visited Philly years ago. What a cute city! Once you visit NYC all other cities seem tiny.
We're staying on swfmb right now & your videos have helped our family identify what we're finding. Love watching and hope to see more videos on cleaning/ caring for our new treasures, I'm totally hooked on beach combing! Sadly we must return to the midwest in a couple days, but I'm taking you with me : ) subscribed, can't wait for the next video. Thanks for sharing.
What amazing feedback! I hope you have the best time on SFMB. I bet you found tons of Florida fighting conchs ;) If you found sand dollars, maybe try to bring the home in a "to go" container. I had cut a seltzer bottle in half and put my treasures inside and then taped it back together. I promise I'll keep the videos coming!
I went to fort desoto on Monday at supposedly low tide but it was likeyour beach. The wind brought the waves in. Lots of sand dollars for me. Those poor urchins on your beach!! Thank you for sharing your walk!
Weren't those urchins crazy? I'm glad you got a lot of sand dollars. I am looking forward to more stormy beach walks!
I have a beautiful lace wing murex I found on a beach off Naples one of my favorite finds
I have yet to find a really good lace murex. They are gorgeous. Hopefully this winter I'll have better luck. Thank you so much for watching!
When I was on Sanibel, a local told me the best shelling is after a northwest wind at low tide.
This is true. And unfortunately the northwest winds are typically winter winds - not summer :( I have a while to wait!
Next time u see lots of urchins, I’ll buy them! I use them to make snowman Christmas ornaments
Linda Hollowell You got it! Please send me an email and we can figure out details. I’m sure I’ll come across more soon! swfbeachlife@gmail.com
Can you show some of the little tiny clam type shells. We don't have them in our area
I know I've shown them in previous videos, but I can't remember which ones! I'll be sure to give them some attention in one of my upcoming videos. :)
Do you wash the shells when you get home?
I rinse them and then sort them. Some needs more TLC (acid) and others either go into my collection or I put them to the side to sell :)
19:06 sea star of some sort!
YES! I can't believe I missed him the first time but I found him on the way back and put him in the gulf.
Sans Souci 😊
Sand dollars too or any shells!!!!
Linda Hollowell I’ve been thinking about maybe selling the lot of shells I find from week to week. I do have some sand dollars I need to bleach and clean. I’ll be sure to let everyone know if I decide to start my shell selling business 🤣
If u ever go shelling n pick up something you don’t want, I’ll pay s/h to send to me. Would love a lot of sea urchins. I make snowmen out of them!!
I do sell lots of the shells I find ☺️ I need more urchins too!
If u ever want to pick up sea urchins I will buy from you. I make snowmen ornaments out of the! Thanks
Linda Hollowell I will keep that in mind! Just takes so much time to properly clean and seal them! I bet those snowmen are cute!
So sad that so many urchins died in the storm!!
It is a bummer to find dead critters but that's the circle of life I guess.
How long have you lived in Florida?
A little over 3 years as of right now.
Silly virus ?
Silly was better than what I really would like to say about it.
@@SWFBeachLife Good luck. Stay healthy.
