Eh, I think this is only topped by the Lava Reef Zone Boss in Sonic & Knuckles. I mean, at least here, you still have to hit Eggman. The Lava Reef Zone Boss, however, Eggman hits himself.
Reminds me of a comment on an ost for this boss IN THE LAST GAME I TURNED METAL SONIC INTO A GOD THAT NOT EVEN I COULD CONTROL. NOW BARE WITNESS TO MY GREATEST CREATION, A SLOT MACHINE WITH 3 GIANT F*CK ME LIGHTS.
I thought of a way to fix this boss and it's basically by having the player pick their own poison. The Egg Dealer has IMMENSE defensive capabilities, doing some small attacks as it keeps it's distance from you, and cannot simply be attacked, in order to attack, you have to match three slots, once you do, Eggman will launch the attack, BUT. Not only can none of the attacks be used against Eggman, but there's also no Shadow Fever or Ring Bonus for you, if you land Shadow Fever, Shadow Androids will be summoned, if you land Ring Bonus, the Egg Dealer will actually regain some health. But here's the advantage you DO get, as long as Eggman is using a slot machine attack, he will be vulnerable to damage. You can pick an attack you can handle better if you time it right. And attack accordingly. Just thought it's a cool idea, and it's frankly in character for Eggman to have his victims decide their own destruction.
Honestly it's not that bad, but I'm not saying it's good either. I also really love the music for the boss. I'm only defending it because I did enjoy this boss as a kid and there are way worse bosses in the Sonic games
You’re damn right this boss is a joke. When I first started playing this game, I thought that the Egg Breaker was actually tougher than this boss. The Egg Breaker would shoot lasers or the big spike ball at you while jumping on you. With Egg Breaker, you would have to strike Egg-man’s cockpit. With this boss, all you have to do is line up the slots perfectly and then Egg-man attacks himself and he barely does anything to you.
Eggman should’ve just used the Egg Emperor The Egg Emperor requires a team of 3 to defeat it and it doesn’t sabotage itself like his slot machine spider so he would have the fight in the bag
Look guys I'll be honest after Egg Emperor I was hitting a bit of a creative roadblock. I had to have something built in time for fighting Shadow so I cobbled this thing together in like five minutes one night while on bath salts.
It's really not that easy of a early boss. Plus this is a final boss on paper but in reality, depending on how you played, it'll be one of the first bosses you'll experience which is fine since you have to beat Egg Dealer more than once to reach the final story. Same with Diablon and Black Doom.
It's a fun and creative boss when you stop and think about it. They just made it way too easy given how many benefits there are to flaws when using the slots.
This is the dumbest boss in all of sonic. You have weak points, and you have suicide by gambling reel.

shadow's homing attack doesn't always want to lock on to the buttons for me for some reason
this boss honestly should of been a early/midgame boss . this really does not place well as a end of a story boss

This is the most pathetic boss in any Sonic game. It's a total mystery why Sonic Team greenlit this.
