The sweetest unique voice ever
That is a beautiful rendition of a classic song from 1985, originally recorded in January 1985 by the group USA for Africa, which stood for United Support of Artists for Africa. That was the USA part, United Support of Artists for Africa. By the way, that organization still exists. Dionne had a part in the original recording and video, which was the part before Willie Nelson and his part, but here she carried the whole song and had a customized end to the song.
The children featured, by the way, were from the International Children's Choir. Those in attendance must still remember this showcase of talent.
This was Dionne at her mid-1980s best and was part of the special 1985 "Solid Gold" countdown show that aired in early 1986.
The mixing in with the children in the choir was a special feature and occurred during the second period of Dionne as the host of "Solid Gold" in the 1985-1986 season. That was 34 years ago. I wonder if those kids have checked back on RUclips to find this clip or maybe they have a special videotape copy. There were no DVDs and Blu-Ray back then.
The singing showed how Dionne Warwick could carry the whole song and give a command performance.

@@parthmishra7911 Yes, it was co-written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson, but this version leaves out the last verse of the original and includes a specialized ending with Dionne Warwick, who carries most of the song and the added backing of the International Children's Choir. That made it different than the 7 minute and 7 second original version.

A bravura performance, if there ever was one. We ARE the world. We WERE all children. We SHOULD strive to make the world a better place by doing what is right and for as many to do the same. Do unto others as you would expect to be done to yourselves. A rule that is golden, as in Solid Gold. The world would be a lot better place for you, me, and everyone else. Words to live by.

Yes, that is true. I wonder why that was done. However, the International Children's Choir along with Dionne made it their own specialized version.
