- Three Halberd plays from Joachim Meyers book about the knightly art of swordsmanship - 1570 A.D. The plays can be found on page 36recto (XXXVI) to 38recto (XXXVIII) in the last chapter of the original book found here:

PS: Obviously NOT exclusive for formation fighting. Meyers manuscript shows mostly techniques for a duel! But you can use many of the concepts also for formation battles like thrusting or striking in a tighter way. - Спорт
I must say, I really do appreciate the commentary in the videos. Previously I would read the description, watch, then go back and read again. This just helps me better understand your interpretation! Thanks for all of the help from halfway around the world!

I can't get over how well done these are. Like Meyer reincarnated. Also, I'm going to have to pick up some of those boxing Adidas. Not only are Adidas my favorite brand but I slightly sprained my ankle while getting careless flailing the halberd around.
happy to have found someone showing halberd techniques on youtube. there isn't much out on the net. nice presentation as well
I appreciate all these videos, me an' a friend have bought so many early weapons from certain periods an' we often duel each-oth'r an' it was nice to watch these videos an' get an' idea on how to start, not gonna lie m'friend beats me almost always! Hehe!
Have fun mates, thats all about :)
Wow! I really appreciate your videos also this one. They help me so much about using halberd. May I ask about the shape of the halberd's shaft? Is it oval or round? Thank you
Oval-like with 4 or 8 edges
@ please do on for messer
I'm absolutely loving the halberd series. Being a newbie, and a halberd guy myself it's very helpful!
Will there be a video on incorporating the butt spike into the fight soon?
The round hits seem risky as all hell. The lady stands ready with halberd up and firm legs, so the moment you drop your weapon behind your back, all she has to do is step forward, throw a stab and it would be right at your face. If she lifts arms doing that, she would even block incoming blow, if there was any. Is that somehow addressed in the sourcebook?
thank you for these
Wenn es so weiter geht, könntest du ja sogar einen Hellebarden Kurs bei euch anbieten. Für sowas einzigartiges wäre der Andrang bestimmt groß und die Einstiegskosten geringer als beim langen Schwert.
Hey Bjorn, are you gonna eventually move on to rapier? My group is starting Meyer's rapier and it would be awesome to see some of your interpretations.
maybe next year :)
I have a halberd question: i am right bandes, but it feels more natural to place my dominant hand in the middle of the shaft and my left hand at the butt end (unlike what is shown in the video). Has anyone experienced the same?
Schön Dank für noch ein sehr informatives Video. Wo hast du die Köpfe zu den Hillebarden gekauft? Ich finde es ziemlich schwer etwas für Polearms hier in Europe zu finden.
I've got this in my recommendations, and it's nice , but after analysing the first technique, is easier to get hit in the face if you're not prepared, it's a risky move . I do not have training in this type of weapon, but I'm trained in the long pole because if wing chun. So, maybe I'm correct maybe I'm wrong, just my two cents.
Axe + spear + gaff = IMBA :)
Very actual i our days😀
Does anyone by chance know the length of these halberds their using? i got a set for me and girlfriend to play around with, I made them 8 foot from end to end, so i can always cut them down a little, they just feel unwieldy at that length. Great Video once again, Thanks for any help in advance.
Take a staff with your height or slightly more and put the Ax on it. Mine is around 230 in total and im 195 :)
@ 195? No wonder it looks like you're swinging a pencil.
@ Thanks again for your quick reply Bjorn.
That first technique shown, wouldn't it be possible to rush in and stab the opponent in the gut while they're in the middle of spinning their weapon?
can this defeat sword and shield?
What's the length of the halberd in this video
Never mind. Someone else asked it already
