I believe we should start to infuse some know how into this topic.
You still have to carefully remember to align the rotary encoder and the mode wheel, the swing arm etc as per manual but the opening wheel must be first engaged onto the underlying pin then rotated in a half-state for assembly. Still you DO NOT reassemble the motor boards until you re-position the contact switch below after you lowered the board. Otherwise you'll pop the switch, exactly what happened in this deck.
I still have my doubts and questions. How and where can we find quality pinch rollers? The original pinch rollers are nowhere to be found as I believe they were NEVER sold as such, you could have bought the complete assembly of the pinch arm/sled with spring (critical for roller pressure setting) but today I can only find generic brass or plastic pinch. Ditto for the OEM belts... no longer produced.
I'd greatly appreciate if somebody could point me in the right direction, apart from the obnoxiously expensive stuff which I refuse to buy as I deem it non appropriate and in some cases, is of the same quality of the lowly priced stuff, just more sapiently sold.
Apart from the cracked wheel that is a transport that I'd deem worth fixing. How can worn out bearings affect wow&flutter? They should stay in place once tensioned by the belt and stabilized by the rollers... I believe one could use thicker oil or a combination of oil and grease. I ignore the exact sequence of the plastic shims on the capstan shaft. Is it two at the back and one thicker dust cover at the front?

I ruled out eBaying from Japan as the items cost far more than I can find on eBay itself locally. If that isn't a Ponzi scheme I don't know what it is... it should be the country of cheap 2nd hand electronics and it offers unjustifiably high prices, inappropriate transformers (at least for the mains in EU) and incredibly mangled stuff.
I think it might have to do with Yahoo auctions closing down the business for us. Still one expected a bit more care from the Japanese.

Looks like whosoever worked on this deck prior, did a really shoddy job. Terrible! Wish they had treated it with more respect..
