Hey! Fellow defender of music! I thought maybe I was alone here. which is crazy because there are honestly SO many parallels between the music world and gun world; how to learn it, how it becomes a part of your identity, how it makes you better at other aspects of life, even the reasons people buy and the community around them. Like parallel universes. I'm constantly making little analogies to the shooting world with my students to help them grasp concepts, like for example doing things slowly and deliberately at first, making sure every motion is correct and smooth, then "sprinting" and not really thinking of anything except speed once you've set the muscle memory. It's like taking practice shots or slowly practicing your draw. If you only ever practice at full speed you can't work on tightening things up, by it's very nature, you can't do anything faster until you can do it more smoothly, when you reach your "speed limit" that really means you've reached your point of max effort. You can't go faster until you can do the same motion with less effort, meaning your new point of max effort a higher speed. An old military quote works great, "slow is smooth, smooth is fast." And it's the same exact thing with, for example, rifle manipulations and fast reloads! I've also heard a ton of shooters talk about how musicians do pretty well shooting, because of our sense of timing. As a full time musician and guitar teacher who just recently (a year ago) started school back up at Berklee to take my business further, I feel that this (guns & outdoors stuff) is the perfect way to balance your life, you get peace time and action time, physical exercise and mental exercise, precision met with power. lIke a good metal song lol. No better way to live in my opinion. Glad to see another musician over here!

I decided to cash in on the PMC gigs when the getting was good and ended up at Triple Canopy as a designated defensive marksman for a couple years. One of my teammates who would become one of my closest friends and even roommate for a few years came from MARSOC DET One. He had worked for GRS for a relatively short amount of time and he said that the GRS shooting qual was the most difficult course he’s ever undertaken. You have to figure back during his time MARSOC was literally brand new and I’m sure the TTPs and SOPs have evolved significantly based on combat driven data.

From experience, the transition from a rifle to a pistol requires urgency, and the primary weapon remains the pistol until the tactical situation is resolved. But switching back from pistol to rifle is an administrative action and will almost always be done after cover and concealment at a rapid pace, but does not require urgency. In a government agency, this is how it is done: Quickly re-holster the pistol (with your dominant hand, in our case your right in the holster) in one fluid motion to free your dominant hand, while gripping the rifle by the handguard with your left hand and bringing it into a visual, into an operational position, whether it involves reloading or remediating a shooting incident. This sequence ensures a controlled transition while maintaining situational awareness and readiness for a rapid response. In my opinion, trying to handle two different platforms at the same time is unrealistic. Thanks. You are doing an excellent job. I wish I were your age.
Although it looks like another night time training exercise with Lucas training hard , it's more than that , it's structured , discipline , rehearsed moves as a team. Looks very good Guy's 👍💪👊🇺🇸❤️😎😘 PERFECTION.

Stand and deliver headshot, I’m piecing it together on the app and it’s not too crazy, I’m alternating the single target ones left then right then repeat so the left target doesn’t make scoring difficult later.
@lanfordjohnson8884 First, you should re-read what I wrote. Second, sure, but where is the target? Is it just the top half of the head showing behind a barrier? Is the target's whole head sticking out from behind the side of a barrier? Or is the targets whole head exposed from behind the top of the barrier? What exactly is it?

Imo, pistols are harder to shoot with than a rifle. Good to zero that in. The guys might be close quarters more than not. These are just logical guesses.
Genuine question. When they’re transitioning from their side arm back to their rifle why the slow pull back with the delayed hold?I feel like you’re already pulling attention from what youre targeting when grabbing rifle and checking it. Would it not be faster to be able to have more focus on eliminating all you can with side arm before going to your rifle, and then assessing what is needed there? Versus putting half focus on what you’re trying to eliminate as well as your rifle?
Why is Lucas shooting everything with his pistol? Is it required for both primary and secondary or is Lucas just trying so hard to be different and cool?
Question for Brandon: Hello there, I have question for you if I may ask. Do you have friends in actual members of Marine raiders who still serves? If yes are they still using block 2 rifle system with DD rails or they switched to SOCOM favourite block 3 with m-lok geisseles uppers or will switch like in 2025?
