The song version of this tune 'THE OLD HOUSE' (Frederick O'Connor 1937) was one of my late father's (RIP 1991) favourites to sing at a family/friends get-together. Quite sentimental, but then he didn't have the happiest of childhoods with a father suffering from the effects of combat in WW1 and his mother passing away when he was a teen. Vale Barney McKenna!

Yes Maid Behind the Bar is okay I spose maybe you should also try to learn "the Swallow Tail reel" and "Within a mile of Dublin" also a reel - sure they are no harder maybe easier to get
