Hey there. I'm considering a Hellcat purchase but have to admit the 1320 is really swaying my decision. Lol I do have a question about your car in particular. I see you've reduced weight wherever you could. In your opinion is that what gives you the advantage against other 1320s. At lease in this vid your car seemed decisively faster than the others. What would you attribute that to since the platforms are basically the same? 🤔 Enjoy the vids, congrats on the win.
100% my weight reduction is what puts me ahead of all the others. It's all about the Power to Weight ratio. Everyone always focuses on the power side since thats more glamorous, but focusing on the weight can make a big impact too, and it's mostly free. The powertrain in my car is completely stock other than the factory cai off of a T/A and there is no other stock 1320 that can keep up with mine. As far as I know there's not anything powered by a stock 392 that's come close to my personal best time of 11.03. If you watch some of my other race vids you'll see I can even keep up with stock Hellcats. Of course all it takes is a pulley and a tune on a Hellcat and they're in a completely different league lol.
Great job!! This yr. I’m trying some DBR 28x10.5x17 Hoosiers instead of the MT 275x40x20 ss. Best I got was a 12.21 so we will see if I can hook these up👍
The DBRs should definitely hook up way better than the SS, especially if going from a 20" to a 17". That extra sidewall makes a huge difference. Plus the SS is more of a street/strip tire, where the DBR, or even M/T ET R, is more of a strip only tire. Good luck on your runs!
Wheels are Billet Specialties Win Lites. They're not cheap but they're one of the lightest wheels. Rears are 17x10 Single Beadlocks wrapped in Mickey Thompson 305/45r17 ET Street R. For the rears I did need to get a pair of BWoody shortened end links to pull the sway bar down so that it wouldn't hit the wheel. Fronts are 17x4.5 with a 2.0" backspacing wrapped in Hoosier bias-ply fronts.
I use them for street driving, on the drag strip though I’ve only used them a few times. They’re good but need a lot of heat and with hardly any sidewall are more prone to wheel hop when they don’t grab, plus they’re heavy. For the track I have a set of 17" Billet Specialties Win Lites. I originally ran Mickey Thompson ET Street Rs on them but now I’m running Hoosier DBRs. I have vids on just my wheels and tires too.
I usually run with everything set to 'Drag' mode including traction. I don't use launch control and I don't do the trick where you hold the traction button down until it turns all the way off, I just let the Drag mode setting do what it does. Sometimes though I'll leave my engine/trans set to 'normal' mode since I've been plagued by random bad shifts, and they don't seem to affect my times as much as when they happen with engine/trans in 'drag'.
@@Scavenger1320 Pretty sure the Demon and 1320 "drag" button disables traction and stability controls, so pressing and holding other buttons is not necessary. I was talking to a Super Stock owner at the Las Vegas Drags weekend before last and he was very envious when he saw the "drag" mode button on my 1320, and was actually kind of pissed the SS didn't come with one. Oh and btw, I have 24 passes now between my two 1320's and haven't had a weird shift yet, but then again my cars are basically full weight...
Look, I get it. It's his money and he can treat the car anyway he wants. But I just watched his video where they rolled it out of the truck in 2020. It was a beautiful machine, beautiful. Then I watched this video........ Now it's just butchered all to hell....If he was that crazy about drag racing, just spend 40 grand and get a used drag car. Why ruin a beautiful machine like this.
Nothing's ruined and nothing's butchered. I haven't done anything that can't be undone. All I need is one day and I can easily put everything back to exactly the way it was. Meanwhile, all of my interior is stored inside my office in my house so whenever I do put it all back, it'll still be like new and in better condition than most cars on the road.
Then it should make you feel better to know that my entire interior is being stored inside my home office where it's nice and climate controlled so that the day I decide to put it all back in, because it will literally only take me a day to do so, my interior will still be just like new on my as of now almost 3 year old car and it'll be like nothing ever happened because I haven't done anything that I can't easily undo. In the meantime I dropped just over 500 pounds (in answer to your question) and have the fastest stock 392 powertrain vehicle anywhere and the only one to have run a 10 second 1/4 mile, also while keeping my full warranty and putting less stress on the drivetrain.
Congrats! That's awesome they have a 1320 class, hope to watch it next year.
Or better yet, bring your car out there next year! They've got at least a couple classes you could run in.
SWEET! You are my hero Chris! Very impressive racing, nice job!

So cool , wish I could make it to one of these events . I really need to know your tire and wheel combo so I can get mine set up for next summer

Thanks! I just hope I can continue the streak this coming weekend for the race that really counts!
I was this close ->||
Come on out to this years! I’m going for sure again
are you using the 20 inch wheels / tires from Nexen that these cars come in? If not, what size tires and what type of tires are you using?

Really good video, I was the orange car, came in 3rd and had a great time. Enjoyed seeing you at the track.
Thanks! Was great seeing you out there as well!
Congratulation! I love your videos. Good luck at the Shootout.
Thanks!
A fun 1320 video!!
Congratulations!! Keep getting those W’s!!!! #DifferentBreed
I'm gonna try! 👊
May I ask.....
What mode do you race in, and what level of traction control?
I'm gonna go to the track this spring. '21 Scat, stock.

Thanks! I really appreciate that.
nice intro buddy! great racing, drive safe!
Thanks!
Detroit.
Congrats on your win. Great racing.
Thanks!
Hey Chris, are you running a differential brace?
No brace. The entire drivetrain is still untouched
@@Scavenger1320 Good to know, thanks.
Breaks my heart to see what the interior looks like. How many lbs did you get off the car?

@@Scavenger1320 whats the top speed on a 1320? Been thinking of getting one instead of a hellcat.
@George Gabriel it's governed to around 168 because of the drag radials. Of course a tune could take care of that.
