  • Rock is Dead? Full Film: • Rock is Dead? Full Fil... Nirvana is one of the most successful bands in the history of rock n' roll and popular music. Nirvana released three studio albums: Bleach (Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Chad Channing, Jack Endino), Nevermind (Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, Butch Vig) & In Utero (Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, Steve Albini, Scott Litt), as well several live albums such as MTV Unplugged, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, Live at Reading, and a compilation album, Incesticide. Kurt Cobain was the driving force behind Nirvana, his songwriting propelling the band to great heights. In this video I explore some of the history behind Nirvana's song 'Negative Creep.'

Rock went down a bad path after Cobain’s death. Over-commercialized bar rock, nu metal, and 80s new wave themed indie rock. Save a few bands, it’s been an abysmal 27 years for the genre. I still hold out hope that a movement will come to pick up where the early 90s left off

All time greatest Kurt Cobain screams (imho):
#1 - *Territorial Pissings.* A splintered larynx never sounded so beautiful and cathartic.
#2 - *Negative Creep.* This one gives #1 a run for its money.
#3 - *Scentless Apprentice.* Listen to the In Utero 2013 20th anniversary Albini remixes to appreciate the true power and horror of Kurt’s vocal delivery, stripped of the distorted studio effect present on the original release.
#4 - A tie between *Aneurysm* and *Drain You.* It’s a crying shame that Kurt only duplicated the climactic howls from the studio versions a handful of times during live performances, but at the end of the day the man was only human and had to maintain his voice to some degree.

boston - Definitely one of my all time favorite Nirvana songs (hence my username, obviously), and definitely one of Kurt’s most harrowing studio vocal performances. When I compiled this list, though, I was trying to focus on songs where Kurt just belts out a pure scream, rather than scream-singing a particular lyric, if that makes any sense. Gets a little difficult to draw the line, depending on what you’re willing to consider a “pure scream” versus a “lyric”, I admit. If I would have included scream-singing, I would have definitely included Milk It (for the “doll steak/test meat” screams), Stay Away (chorus and outro “God is gay” screams), Moist Vagina (chorus), Rape Me (outro), and You Know You’re Right (particularly for the time he screams the line “I have never failed to fail” before the second chorus).

I agree the Kurt's vocal scream in Negative Creep in particularly wonderful in this song. The time I was introduced to the album this song was on it and it became one of my favorite songs. Mind you at the time I didn't like people screaming in music. But if Kurt did it I liked it. I had been a Nirvana fan when I 1st saw them on MTV playing Smells Like Teen Spirit. I didn't want to like them but they were always on and I somehow began to love them so I had to get all the information I could about the band. I bought all theur albums. Of course it was from actual tape. I them bought all the albums in CD format. What an awful sad day it was when Kurt was found dead. My poor heart broke for a little bit .But I only pray for his soul to be saved. If I loved him, I know God loves him even more.💕

As soon as any artist creates art with a voice, that voice, be it in poetry, music, or a first-person novel, is the persona. You can argue how close the persona is to the actual author, but it's useful critically to think of a separation of the two.

@@DanielSarkissian thank you it means a lot to me as the original song is from Shocking blue and the singer was half Romani and Hungarian and Dutch as well .So it is a tiny little bit of connection to me and my country.Kurt had a very good taste in music.I would remember to his smile and what he done in music and I never had that depressed feeling about him.
