Great shave Geo. I've since bought a Merkur 15C and it's quickly become one of my favourites. It's not too aggressive but it is very efficient, and as you say very easy to get up under the nose. I've always had smooth and safe shaves with it and so long as you fit a sharp blade it works really well. This seems to be a razor in the Merkur range that needs more publicity! :)
it feels just right on the skin. i never had that feeling with any other razor before.
Beautiful razor a really close and clean shave, the short handle gives amazing control.
Once all this Covid hullabaloo is finished and I get my finances back on track, the Merkur 15C will be my first purchase. Looks like a beauty.

As always, great information, love this guy! When I started the first time, I picked 34C (and EJ89) and it has been great, as I gain more experience then I start using this 15C, with event greater results. Close comb works best for me as I shave once a week only, I would recommend if you are a daily shaver, start with 34C or EJ89, less aggressive but gets the job done.

I own the Merkur 15C, bought it from you Geo. I bought it mainly because we had hard well water at the time, and a three piece razor is easy to clean. It’s been a good shaving razor. I use the Merkur blades as well. Before that I shaved with an L1 Gillette Slim that belonged to my grandfather. I always used witch hazel after wards then the Proraso aftershave.
I am from India, I love your videos and I used to use electric shaver, but never really got a shave like yours. I haved decided to move on to safety razors and I am buying a merkur 34C with poraso products from USA as it is not available in India. Loads of love Sir. Your videos make products more special
Thanks to you now I know how to shave like my grandpa, I grew up without a father figure, and always have shaved with Gillette, now I’m a expert shaving with safety razors.

It's good to see you in Good Humor and having fun instructing the newbies on the finer points of wet shaving with a efficient razor in these weird, strange and downright Twilight Zone-ish times.
I need to grow my beard probably 3 days to get what this guy gets in 1 day. A cartridge razer will last me roughly a year before I need to switch it out and even then it's cause I just wanted to switch it not that it stops shaving cleanly. Still it's nice to watch this guy teach how to properly shave.

5:14 thats what I am like when not having any sort of beard. I use a beard trimmer on no 0 about twice a week. That is what I usually do.

Geo, you are the best Razor youtuber and proraso red is one of my favorite Produkt line.
Maybe can you make a ultimate guide about the little differents between the most popular adjustable Razors. Future, progress, feather, Parker, and so one, maybe the China qshave parthenon, because i think if you want only one safety razor, is thats the best thing.

I have a 15c and it's a really great razor. Its keenly priced and is often overlooked for such as the 34c.
I find it shaves incredibly close without being overly aggressive.

I wrote to Merkur about this razor and they said that they are not sure but the Merkur 15c first came out sometime during the 1920s.

Hey james how’s the 15c working out for you? I have the 25c which is the same head with a longer handle. I’ve had a hard time getting close shaves with it since it’s so mild. Wondering what your thoughts are?

Hey Geo. Happy Easter from Canada. It appears that the Merkur 15C head is quite similar or the same as the 46C Bakelite razor. I have a 38C and 46C, and the heads are noticeably different. I find even a milder blade feels more aggressive in the 46C. A comparison video would be quite interesting and helpful. The 46C is a great travel razor. Shave on , and stay safe.

I have the 25c and am really happy! The 15c is too small for me.
I already have the 23c, but I don't really see a difference between them.
The 23C is a much longer handle than the 15C, and closed vs open comb

This is not an aggressive razor. Aggressiveness is usually caused by blade gap. There is nearly no blade gap on this razor. I use this daily. Very nice, gentle razor. Absolutely no blade feel on this

I was able to quit the gym. This thing gave me biceps like Arnold Fluffernutter!

Great review as always. Don't know if you've tried the Fatip Grande. I bought few weeks ago and it's also an very impressive razor. Open comb a bit agressive but I've always a great shave. You should try it.

How do you get your proraso tubes to look so perfectly shaped? Mine always have weird dents and bulges right out of the box.
I guess it's the luck of the draw... Sometimes they get a little scrunched up during shipping. You can roll the bottom over towards the top and push until it straightens out.
Nice looking razor there, Geo. I like open combs and this 15C is now on my radar.

I just use a Philips one blade on the neckline. Couldn't shave every day twice a week is enough.
Sounds like a trim, not a shave.
I love mine, but I prefer to use a less aggressive blade.

Hi Jon-I usually face lather when I'm in a hurry. Use a bowl when I want to take my time with the shave.

Does anyone know when Merkur first produced this razor? I have seen one on ebay that claimed it was from the 1950s, but the basic design appears to be from the early 1900s, say about 1907.

Many of the Parker heads are the same, but not the same as the Merkur razors if that's what you're asking.

Yes you can, same thread, I have the 15c for travelling as its so light and the 34C as a daily
Yes, you can switch out the handle with something larger if you'd like. This is still under the R41 in terms of size and aggressiveness.
I'm thinking about getting 15C Open Comb. I currently use Merkur 1904 Open Comb, which is a good razor for me, but it looks to me that the handle in 15C is grippier, which would be nice.
Can you compare this to the Rockwell R41?

The R41 way heftier and is quite more aggressive than tis razor. Both are 3 piece.

Geo, is 15C as efficient as the r41, but more manageable (i.e., less risky)? If so, it seems like the perfect sweet spot for those of us with sensitive skin but tough beards (and everyday shavers).
Are there other razors that have a comparable shave to the 15C?
If the R41 is too aggressive for you, the 15C may be just the ticket.

Yes-Either one of those will be more aggressive shaving than the 34C.

Question. Do you always take the blade out after use and clean and dry it?
Sometimes I remove it after every shave and sometimes I remove it weekly and clean the razor, then pop in a new blade.

I'd probably look into a 15c or even a Merkur 37c slant. Those will do better with a coarse beard than a mild de89.

I still haven’t achieved a “sting free” application of the alum block lol.
So a r41 and a feather isn’t mild and smooth lol
My best shave so far has been the r41 with a muhle blade but I don’t have anymore muhle blades. It came with the razor. But still a little stinging.
