  • In our first ride video, we tell you all the things that we liked and disliked about the new Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Since it targets young buyers who mainly travel in and around Cities, RE has made several changes to the frame and engine tuning. The mileage it gave us was pretty impressive at 35kmpl considering it's a 350cc motorcycle. It's available in three trim levels - Retro factory (single disc & single channel ABS), Metro Dapper (Dual discs, dual channel ABS, single-tone paint schemes), and Metro Rebel priced between Rs 1.50 lacs - Rs 1.68 lacs (ex-showroom). Hope you find this video useful.

    Taken Test Ride 26.3.23.
Felt comfortable to ride with family of 3 in city traffic. And Solo Test Ride was al tooo tab.
Might opt to buy this as it's satisfying my requirements ...
    1. family use Within city (hope m right)
    2. 350cc at reasonable price
    3. Being proud owner of RE.

Watched ur video after purchasing the bike. Already riding it for 10 days now in a tier 2 city of India. Few of my observations:
    1) excellent handling. It's fun to ride it.
    2) any time doesn't feel that it is loosing power.
    3) excellent looks
    4) I am 6ft and no problem at all.
    5) Lots of potholes and speed brakers in the city but ground clearance not an issue if u r driving normally. But if u r determined to make it touch to the ground then u ll definitely succed easily.
    6) Didn't find any issue as of now but yes the heating issue is a real one. It's monsoon time and not much heat at this time still ur foot feels it.
    7) suspension could be better but it's ok not much noticable if it's ur first bike of this segment.
In the end I would say that I m proud of it. 👍

Tried sharing in hunter, awaiting for the test ride, but your review have me a glimpse of what I'll be experiencing when test riding...
    Beautifully articulated...
Yes liquid cooling chahiye, and 6th gear, specially for meteor and classic, as these are inter state vehicles considering other dynamics, roads are improving and so dose the crossing speeds need to be...

I test rode both, meteor and Cb 350 rs, and went for the rs. Once you ride a honda 350 long stroke engine, the re engine doesn't hold a candle. Honda is butter smooth even to the redline, and has more torque and better exhaust for the same price! Exactly what I expected from a company that makes formula 1 winning engines.

Being a Mechanical engineer and a designer in automotive field, I have following observations.
I was looking for a family bike for city rides mostly with a flat (horizontal seat), circular headlamp and retro-like + premium design (not like 100-150cc bikes).
After exploring lot of bikes, I finalized three options to compare.
    1. Honda H'ness 350 CC
    2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC
    3. TVS Ronin 225 CC
I test drove all 3 vehicles 2-3 times and following are my observations,
    1. Honda H'ness 350 CC -
*Pros* - Nice retro/classic look, Low end torque is good, Seating space for pillion rider is more than other two vehicles.
*Cons* - Bulkier (Box size), Paint quality, Higher cost as compared to other two vehicles
    2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC -
*Pros* - Beautiful Design/Styling/Look, Great color schemes, Turning radius is smaller than Ronin (Less space to turn the vehicle), Reasonable cost.
*Cons* - The biggest issue (design flaw) is positioning of foot rest (pegs), just below the sitting position. This makes it difficult to keep your feet on ground while you are at signal or in slow moving traffic. Foot rest (pegs) keep touching your legs and is very uncomfortable.
Another point is that seat on rear end tapers downward and seating space for pillion rider being less, pillion rider tend to move back and when you accelerate, pillion may feel like toppling/falling down at back side. So this is not safe and hence, back rest is MUST.
Handle bar positioned in such a way that you need to keep your hands stretched straight all the times which is not a comfortable sitting posture.
Low end torque/performance (2 & 3 gear) is sluggish due to bigger engine. (Not as good as smaller capacity bikes)
    3. TVS Ronin 225 CC -
*Pros* - Semi-retro look with circular headlamp, Driveability and Performance is superb.
Handle bar position is very good for comfortable sitting posture with hands slightly bent in elbows. Very easy to handle in traffic.
*Cons* - Very bad design/aesthetics of fuel tank (some odd shape), Color schemes are odd (not impressive), Turning radius is higher than Hunter (Needs larger space to turn the vehicle). Cost is on higher side for lower CC as compared to Hunter (mainly due to features).
Overall, none of them is meeting my requirements (as mentioned above) and hence, I decided to wait for Kawasaki W175 or Yamaha XSR or Improved version of Royal Enfield Hunter.
    All the best!
    Regards, Jayesh Shimpi

    Not only color difference,
RE has used non branded brakes on Dapper series. only the Rebel Series is getting the ByBre brakes.
I have also confirmed it with Royal Enfield showroom/Service.
UPDATE: I have checked personally it comes with BYBRE brakes. It's just different branding. On the dapper series you will find the BYBRE logo embedded in black, that's why it's not visible easily. On the other hand the Rebel variant has white BYBRE written on the brakes. That's the only difference. Both variants comes with BYBRE brakes front and back also.

I am bit older guy, have owned 30 bikes plus from 1000cc race bikes to 150 cc Asian bikes. I have 500 km on my Hunter, I like the bike, but there are two issues I have with it.
Rear springs are way too stiff (softest setting) for normal person, I guess if you are 120 kgs you will be ok.
Less of an issue, but still not to my liking is the clutch, it simply has too narrow engagement point. It's smooth, the pull is ok, but engagement is 50% too narrow for a nice feeling clutch. In addition, both levers are far from the handle bar. I have big hands and they are at the far limit. If you have smaller hands, pay attention when trying the bike.
Rest is cool, the bike is what it is, a relaxed, torquey motor, beautiful transmission, in blue and white good looking normal bike. Hope this helps someone.

RE has made a few mistake by launching this motorbike because:-
    1) it looks waaay classier than that prehistoric piece of junk, also known as the Classic 350
    2) Hunter's lightweight and modular looks will attract the newer gen of young bike enthusiasts
    3) Same engine yet lightweight makes it a faster cruiser
    4) With Hunter RE has already begun rethinking about phasing out the old classics
