Mega Man X5 - X vs Zero (Mega Man Zero Style Remix)

- Here it is, my first actual remix!
I absolutely love X vs Zero (the fight and track) from Mega Man X5, and being a huge Mega Man Zero fan, I've always wondered what would've happened if this same fight took place at some point in the series for one reason or another. Whether it be from the scrapped concept of Copy X being the real X, Weil taking X's body instead of Zero's, or just anything to do with if they made Zero 5. If so, this is how I imagine the music would be like.
I truthfully never really thought about remixing before up until I started messing around with midi sequences and soundfonts on my old laptop, and friends recommended that I should try creating a full-on remix instead. So, as an on and off project in-between college classes, I did so!
(Also, if you can spot all the leitmotifs/references in this track, I'll give you a crisp online high five.)
Also, shoutout to my friend/inspiration MyNewSoundtrack and his Discord community. I've been an active in the community for nearly 5 years at this point, and his remixes were what helped inspire me to start getting into it as well. I also went to MyNewSoundtrack for quick feedback during the creation process of this remix as well, given this is my first actual remix attempt, and he was a huge help for both motivation and changes involving the remix.

You managed to capture the spirit of the scrapped idea of X being the main villain of Megaman Zero instead of Copy X. The roles are now reversed, bonus points if Zero remembers everything that happened during X5.
This convinced me to sub.

I see this as a what if scenario, where X gets his original body stolen by Weil instead of destroyed as a backup plan for Omega, which leads to X possibly surviving the events of MMZ2, and returning to his own body to finish the fight in MMZ3

Ciel: Seems bad. We're getting awful readings! The energy signature is huge!
Zero: A voice inside me tells me that I need to do this. It's saying awful things.
Ciel: What is it saying?
Zero: "When you unsheathe your blade, you kill. You missed this one the first time, now we can finish this!"
(Zero sees X standing with a glowing red aura)
Zero: X? He’s alive? Why? I thought he was laid to rest when Omega fell. Elpizo destroyed his body, too. Unless... Weil.
X: Help… no… I’m… I’m finally Maverick. I… must… kill all humans… for Weil!
Zero: Weil’s grown that powerful? He can even make X himself become a true Maverick? I must defeat him, and soon! It’s come to this… just as I promised when I lost her, I will end you!
X: Okay… make it… slow and painful! I won’t hold back! We won’t hold back!
(X activates UA Battlizer)
X: Behold! The true might… of Dr. Weil!
Zero: Of course I won’t.
(Fight begins)
(Zero defeated)
X: Noooo! Why? I… humanity’s hope… is over.

X: Thank you… it’s all over now. Even without me having become a Maverick, I’ve already lost the Guardians, Alia, Iris… and you. What else would I have to live for? We can never again raise a family like we hoped before Sigma defiled Repliforce.
Zero: I’m so sorry it had to come to this. But it had to happen. I fulfilled my promise to you. This... this battle destroyed me. The prophecy was right.
X: I hope I can see you again, in the next life. Yet I fear we’ll be forever separated soon.
Zero: That gives me fear too. I do know you'll forgive me, but will I be forgiven by the greater forces in the universe, should they exist?
X: Y....Ye... -
(X explodes, leaving only his helmet behind)
Zero: Damn you Weil! You forced me to kill my best friend! X... I’ll use this in your honor.
(A Dr. Light capsule emerges)
Ciel: What is that?
Dr. Light: There is still hope. Step into the capsule, Zero.

X: Ah, fate has once again brought us here. I remembered during the Maverick Wars about your retirement and resurrection, and the first time we faced each other. The Nightmare Incident, the Jakob Elevator, the Elf Wars, and the maverick crisis in Giga City. It was...breathtaking, isn't it?
Zero: Seems that way, X.
X: It seems that you have completed the trials the four guardians have placed for you. I am impressed.
Zero: I need something that will help me defeat Weil and stop Ragnarok.
X: I see. There is one weapon that will aid you, Zero. The Ultimate Armor.

X: But to obtain it, you must defeat me in battle.
(X transforms into his Ultimate Armor form)
X: This is your final test, Zero. Come, my friend. Let us fight…for friendship.

From the image, it seems more like Zero has to fight a fully Maverick X and kill him for real. Imagine that scenario.
My only problem with this... Is well... Sadly if Zero era characters existed that means X8 and subsequently Command Mission aren't canon, wouldn't blame anyone for not knowing considering Zero series and X Command Mission take place both in 22xx and before anyone asks about X8 it's kind of odd, but because of the space elevator being made WAY sooner in the MegaMan timeline it would eliminate the purpose of Elysium in MegaMan Legends. Even if Legends takes place potentially thousands of years after ZX (24xx if memory serves correctly).
@@aarondevack1912 X8 is canon, it's that Axl most likely bites the dust during the Elf Wars sadly, along with the Space Elevator being destroyed at some point

Very nice! The MMZ Soundfont works pretty well for this song...
One minor thing i noticed, though, at the start, there's a little bit of clashing with the 2 motifs, where one note will be playing and then another note will play slightly above, not in the same key, and it sounds a little off, maybe could have been fixed by changing the key of the second motif, but other than that, this is really nice!

I was working on an X vs Zero animation in the MMZ style. I’ve since scrapped the project due to the fact that I was animating on Scratch and was getting frustrated with it crashing, but also lack of motivation. This song would’ve been perfect for that video if I finished it.

what happens if X becomes the Final boss in Megaman Zero, not Copy X.
That would have been interesting, because X would become a villain.
I do think the original ending was supposed to be the "Zero goes Maverick" ending. It would explain well why X became a dictator - Dr. Light wipes X's memory of Zero. Zero was X's mentor in the first three games, without Zero's influence, X lost a huge chunk of his life influence. X might also be more of a well-intentioned villain rather than the obviously evil and misguided villain Copy X was.
I think X would be a bad guy at first but redeem himself later on (say, on the 2nd or 3rd game) when he realizes the truth, and the reveal wouldn't be "Zero is in a copy body" but that Zero actually went Maverick in X5. Alternatively, the reveal is that this Zero is truly a total fake, not just the body.
It would also mean no Elf Wars narrative. We might have no Weil, or Weil might actually be Wily.
I could see that happening with Weil managing to reprogram X into a true Maverick.

The original concept for Weil was an young guy. Perhaps Weil here is Ciel's opposite, another genetically engineered prodigy. But evil and young, because there's no Elf Wars. By the same cue, Weil finds Omega, which parallels Ciel - they both find Zero, but one finds the legendary hero (copy body made by Light?), the other finds Omega The God of Destruction (AKA Zero's original broken corpse) and rebuilds him.
Maybe X gets killed in the Alt!MMZ and returns in MMZ3, thinking he has to take down the ULTRA DANGEROUS MAVERICK ZERO (because dying made him recover the memories and Weil manipulated him), but X eventually realizes he was manipulated and remembers Zero The Friend, but doesn't die like CopyX did - the bomb is still there, he just doesn't throw an angry tantrum.
So Alt!MMZ2 is about Zero fighting the Guardians and Elpizo (X is probably not holding the Dark Elf here), Omega is still a thing, Dark Elf is either not a thing or a new invention by Weil, and a regretful X joins the Resistance against Weil when he realizes Dr. Light essentially lobotomized him to forget Zero.
We might get bigger depth on the Guardians as well.

Variable X and XvZ are both correct, and truthfully I didn't use X-BUSTER as a reference but...after going back to the song, I realized the dropping of the percussion followed by slow reintroduction of said percussion/melody are similar. My b LMAO
