  • Nerd out with me on this one. Today I tested my 4gpm for its flow rate using a downstream injector and using it straight plumbed. I wanted to answer the question "should I buy a downstream injector bypass kit"?? I was extremely surprised by the answer. Check it out and drop a comment if you have any ideas??

Yep, we sell the bypass kit and we also have the SmartStream system which does not bypass.
Personally I think the whole “man I got a bypass and now I’m sooooo much faster” rhetoric is pretty silly.
Is it more flow to bypass? Yea maybe
Is it going to affect your P&L for the year? Nope.
There’s much better places to put brain cells in business.

Thank you so much for the comment Coty! Wow, this is so cool having SESW drop a comment 🙏
First off, let me begin by saying I by no means am talking down on your product or company! Honestly, the opposite! You guys have been an ABSOLUTE resource and guide for me and everyone else in this community.
Your product was showcased for this study merely because it was first to show up on Google. Great marketing 😎.
I am merely doing my own due diligence for my own personal rig (4gpm, I understand now that it has a much more beneficial affect for higher flow machines) before I jump into new Mods/Technology. I know you understand!
You're right, there are many ways to skin a cat! This industry can get overcomplicated.
      Respectfully,
      Sean

    Ok, so…
    1. It’s because you have a 4 GPM. I’ll do the test with an 8 and a 10. Does that make sense? Because you are using a 4, you simply aren’t pushing as much water.
    2. I absolutely need to do more videos with my shirt off
    3. You absolutely earned my subscribe!

And you are correct. Unless you use a remote system, there’s no real need to get a bypass when using a 4

I watched a video of a guy changing the bypass around, making the flo thru the rinse, and when you bypass, it run's it with the injector. He claimed that the machine rinsed with more water flow in the new configuration. I'm sure I didn't explain that very well, but it was a good video.

I have a flow pro with my 8gpm. With a 2.1 injector, I don’t notice the difference in bypass mode. When I’m using a 1.8 injector, you’ll notice a HUGE difference in bypass mode.

There are several existing restrictions in the system.
    .
when downstreaming you will get more flow overall, because you have the pump flow pluss the downstream quantity after the pump.
    .
remember too the xjet is a downstream injector and represents a restriction.
    .
THEN we have the issue of maximim flow and maximum pressure.
You will only achieve maximum flow with an open hose AND you will only achieve maximum pressure with sufficient restriction.
At what point maximum pressure aligns with flow rate/ restriction and at what point maximum flow rate aligns with pressure and restriction is a whole other story.
This is an Ohms Law, problem in fluids, BUT it will not be linear and consistent.
    .
. a couple of tests that will be interesting
1/ a flow test straight out of the pump into a short hose with no restriction, no handpiece, no tool, nothing.
THIS is the maximum flow rate of the pump
2/ a flow test with a pressure guage and a plain nozle ( the straight red one would be the most consistent)
THIS will be the maximum flowing pressure or close too it.
3/ 4/ 5/ then start adding various tools and injectors one at a time.
    .
It is my expectation that the restrictions presented by the downstreaming devices will be significantly less than the restrictions presented by the pressure nozles.
The hole in the downstream devices will be significantly big in comparison to the nozzles.
Don't forget there will be some internal restriction in the pump.
    .
THEN many things may look unreasonable because of the unreasonable pressures involved 2000, 3000, 4000 and more PSI, at those pressures simple physics may not apply, things get more complicated.

  • @justinpatterson7075

I thought the same thing. I was worried that the small orifice would lower my flow. But what I’ve found is that as long as you’re using the correct sized orifice for the machine you’re using it will actually gain some extra flow. I have a SESW remote ds box so when I’m rising I’m pulling water and I know I’m a tad more efficient then without it. You could always plumb a 3way valve on the injector line if you wanted a more permanent setup. Good testing!

You will get a remote box once it gets warmer and you get chaffed from all that walking….I thought the walking would be good for me but when your doing 3-4 houses solo a day in the heat of June you get tired.
The down stream injector uses a Venturi affect so you are still getting the 4gpm from the pump but the pressure drop from the nozzle causes a vacuum pulling water from the injector so with the proper pressure drop you create the maximum amount of vacuum from the Venturi pulling a supplemental portion of solution.
I noticed the flow difference when running my surface cleaner and not really washing.

3-4 houses a day is solid! - you are 100% right, i'm editing a video right now of a day i did with 3 houses, and its hilarious because i literally see myself run back and forth from the rig in the footage. maybe its time to stop being cheap!

So the pump is just working harder to push the water through the injector ??

    • @WeberPowerWashing
      @WeberPowerWashing  Месяц назад +1

i don't know if working harder is the right word! i would describe it as " restricted", when you are running through an injector you can restrict your overall flow, especially in the larger GPM machines

    Hi,
Very interesting vidéo, I'm about to start my pressure washing business, i almost have all the equipment i need.
    Like you i bought a x-jet m5 and i didn't know that it works with a downstream injector!!🤔
I'm a Big student of the game, since 3 month, i watch about 4 to 5 hours pressure washing youtube vidéos, and nobody mentioned it.
I was even going to buy a m5 ds twist but i'm hesitsting now.
I watched a video from powerfull improvement, he made the (physicals) comparisons between the x-jet m5 an the DS twist and the DS twist has a bigger hole so it delivers less pressure and enables the soap of the downstream injector.
So i thought the x-jet m5 didn't enables the soap mode with the downstream injector.
It would be interesting to make a comparison of how much chemical the downstream injector draws with an x-jet and a ds twist or a jrod (which are especialy made to work with a downstream injector together) to see if there is any difference.
    Keep getting after it.
As you can see, i'm a nerd too🤓

      @WeberPowerWashing  4 месяца назад

Welcome! THAT is a GREAT idea friend. I could most definitely do a video on that.
But I can tell you from experience the x-jet M5 most definitely pulls chemical! I can't speak on the DS Twist, but I can tell you that I love the M5 way more than the jrod. I started with the Jrod. still a great tool

yes! that is what i was told, and it is completely true, when you get into the 8gpm range it completely matters. which is funy because i am still running through my injector with an 8 now smh

  • @amberowens2453

Look at it this way, You still get your 4gpm, the extra is from the injector. You are still going to pull 4 as the machine is plumbed to your water supply.

    • @WeberPowerWashing
      @WeberPowerWashing  4 месяца назад

EXACTLY, brother that’s exactly how my thought process went to. From my research the only benefit to the downstream injector bypass would be that you don’t need to turn off the machine. Obviously, the remote downstream injector bypass has many more added benefits, and time saving abilities.
