  • If the thought of hacking in a group, or having a canter up an open field brings you out in a sweat, this is the demo for you!
This short clip is a teaser for this September's Your Horsemanship Demonstration, and follows a group from our Summer Hacking Camp. With some riders more nervous than others, and with a couple of excitable horses in the group, I explained that working collaboratively as a group enables everyone to have stress-free, enjoyable hacking.
We started off with some group exercises in the arena and field in order to find a good order of horses for our single file hacking. We negotiated obstacles as a group and went through some patterns for calming the more "goey" horses in the group.
A short hack down the road led us to some open field work, where our aim was to trot next to each other up the field without the horses wanting to "race", and to try a canter if they felt confident enough to do so.
This demo is just one of the many hacking video lessons within Your Horsemanship that is available for members to learn from.
