- Maurice André (1933-2012) plays Jeremiah Clarke's 'The Prince of Denmark's March', also known as 'Trumpet Voluntary' (1699), on a French TV show (1983).

Had to come here and pay my respects. A giant has passed today. Thank you Maurice for all you gave us.
One of the greatest musicians of the century! And the discussion about the way this music was played in the past is very interesting.
Maurice André died on February 25, 2012 (close to midnight, 23:45, at the hospital of Bayonne at the Pyrénées-Atlantiques). I'm thinking God needed him in heaven because Andre's music was so heavenly here on earth.
Thank you for uploading this. Thank you so much.
Yes , it looks like God says : " Enough of playing for others , come play for me ."

As I said elsewhere on this platform, musicians and indeed all artists have something god-like about them, and a prophetic mission. May God give Maurice André his eternal reward for being at once engagingly modest about his great talent, and impassioned in spreading good music on the face of a world of people athirst for beauty and solace.
Never heard this piece with a chorus before! Tres manifique! RIP monsieur Andre, you play for the angels now.
What a great artist - Heaven reward him
God bless Maurice Andre !
We will miss you, but your music will be forever in our heart !

The greatest brass player (not just trumpet) who has ever lived. I just hope he's found his place in heaven. There will never be another.
Best version ever!
Really the greatest!
His playing was sublime.
Heavenly!
Thank you sooo much!
You're very welcome, Carla, God bless you.
J'adore. Merci beaucoup.
You're welcome, Pascale, God bless you.
MAJESTIC ...!!!
So it should be: It is the Danish Prince - and he apparently has trouble getting up in the morning!
Timeless and heavenly
Thanks to the person who posted this! An incredible version!
just amazing
Maurice is THE BEST - Michael McClary, Professor of Trumpet -Associate Professor - Georgia Perimeter College and GSU
He laid out on the only note you would need it for in this piece.
ÅÅÅÅ det lyder fantastisk..
Absolute Weltklasse
Buenisimo Maurice Andree.
Que lindo e inspirador.
Glórias a Deus 🙌🙏🙌
Amém, Carlos, que Jesus te abençoe.
The fourth valve is to facilitate the low register, this is a piccolo trumpet and he never plays low enough to need the fourth valve.
When did he pass on?
2012 i think :(
¡Formidable!
Sacre Bleu, that was superb!
when I get married this will somehow be part of it...
Good choice. My wife came down the aisle to it, back in 1969. She thought it was written by Purcell, not Clarke. I corrected her (much) later.
insuperabile nell espressivita
aaahhhh
Je veux cet arrangement!
For some reason I always mistake trumpet voluntary for Haydn's Es dur trumpet concerto.
because both were on the first trumpet recording you bought .
Hire an orchestra for your new bride.
has this arrangement ever been recorded in a studio? I would buy this in a second! Somebody please let me know if this is on CD?
makes me wonder....will he be the one leading the charge of Our Lord's return playing the 'The Trumpet Shall Sound?' TeleBachHand
It is probably not a French TV show, as there was no "TV5" channel in France at the time. Great performance nonetheless.
Bela bela musicaa
Isn't this song basically trumpet voluntary? By Jeremiah Clark?
Well yes since the two is one and the same piece, but the correct name of the piece is "The Prince Of Denmark's March".
In Danish: Prins Jørgens March.
I felt like an aristocrat for 3 minutes and 18 seconds. 🧐
He plays for new arrivals to Heaven.
I'm supposed to learn this song for contest on my trumpet. I play first chair. I can't play it! Super hard! Oh btw I'm a girl...
Well... girls can play it too. Might be easier with thinner fingers.
kitsch

I konw it's close to blasphemy. But there's one which is better. Made my C.Rippas !
How tacky!
