- In this Physics video in Hindi we explained radioactive decay and its types for class 12. Radioactive decay is of three types, viz., alpha decay, beta decay and gamma decay.
Radioactive nuclei emit several particles alongwith energy to gain stability. When a radioactive nucleus emits alpha particle, the decay is called alpha decay.
Similarly when beta particle which is electron or positron is emitted, it is called beta decay. And when an excited nucleus emits gamma ray to reach its ground state, the process is called gamma decay.
Beta decay is of two types beta pus and beta minus decay.

Due to the difference of mass the nucleus goes into excited state.
And the nucleus emits gamma ray following the rule:E=MC^2.

Sir , you given example of urnaium changes in thorium but if we fount delta mass then it is zero because thorium mass is 234 and helium mass is 4 so its equal to uranium so delta mc2 work and how it emits energy.

Energy is released , not destroyed but it converted to one form to another, so there's no violation in conservation law .

Sir but phosphorus is not a radioactive element because the ratiio of neutron/proton is not more than 1.5, so how does beta negative decay happens of phosphorus
