    I"m 65 and honestly, I don't play much anymore and forget what I once knew when I do pick up a guitar. Even though it doesn't take much time for the fingers to start working again from muscle memory, it does take time for the brain to remember. You're little house method of finding the major 3rd was very insightful and put me in a feeling way of playing just by hearing the 3rd for each chord change. That was a great tip to make the brain and fingers work together. Hopefully I'll play more than I do, but if I only pick up the guitar once in a while, I bookmarked your channel to get my brain working quickly. Great lesson.

    I always strummed the guitar and never got too far past the CAGED system and scales. Now because of current events, I wanted to use this time to really learn and understand how it all comes together. I now know the CAGED system and how to use the pentatonic scales. Finding your channel has greatly given me motivation to keep practicing and get better!

    This helped a few thing click for me.
    I am just starting to learn this stuff to know how to play over chord changes, after spending like 15yrs just learning solos etc.
    I have just started so I knew the trick to "find all the chords in the major". E.g. from the root, up a string (E to A string) for the IV chord, and then up two frets for the V chord.
    I knew that the 3rd was in the bar chord shape. for example the middle finger of the bar chord on 6th string is the 3rd.
    I realised from looking at your diagram, the 3rd follow the same pattern as the above method of finding the chords.
    If you know the 3rd is up one string and down 1 fret from the root, it's the same for the 3rd for the other chords as in up a string for IV chord 3rd, and up two frets for the V chord 3rd. So you can visualise where they are pretty easily.

    Man, Im From Brazil and I have to say. You have the best way to teach guitar in RUclips. I would like to know if in your course all the pentatonic scales (major and minor) are taught. If yes, for shure I will be your new student.
    Congratulations!!!!

    • @PowMusic
      @PowMusic  4 года назад

      Hello Leandro - the thing is, there is only one pentatonic scale. It is both major and minor - it just depends which note you call the root. In the course we use the key of A minor and C major and we play on tracks in both those keys. However we use the same scale because they are the relative major and minor of each other. We also only stick with shape 1 and the house of blues, but then at then end I tell you where to go next and link to some of my sequential youtube videos as the follow up homework, but the course focuses mainly on phrasing, ear training, creativity, and being musical using just a few notes which to me should be explored before mastering all of the shapes, etc. All the best! Gary
