Mahatma Gandhi’s impact on humankind is eternal. His ideals and ideas are immortal. Global citizens must contribute their best without craving for any recognition and take a pledge to inculcate their principles and philosophies to build a better world
I am a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, and Abraham Lincoln has been my inspiration since my childhood. Four decades ago, I read Gandhi’s autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth, when I was serving in the Indian Air Force. I was inspired by his ideas and ideals. I learned many things from this great soul such as respecting women, walking the talk, caring for others, emphasizing the right means to achieve ends, and leading a simple life.
Mahatma Gandhi did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, although he was nominated five times. But his followers namely, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama, Aung San Suu Kyi, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, and Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize. It indicates his influence beyond borders and laying the ladder for great leaders.
Message: Gandhi’s impact on humankind is eternal. His ideals and ideas are immortal. Global citizens must contribute their best without craving for any recognition and take a pledge to inculcate his principles and philosophies to build a better world.
