Nemo, Higher Than Hope and Live To Tell The Tale employed it during their respective choruses. She wasn't very... Operatic for that one, I don't know why. Still was during the End Of An Era tour on songs not on the album, but it was weird.

I Love annette and I love tarja, but I do think that it was a mistake 2 a point 2 get rid of tarja of course annette cant sing the old songs with the voice/passion that tarja had But if we didnt have annette now we wudnt have great songs like TP&TP, the islander, bye bye beautiful and amaranth which i think R her best/strongest songs & are unique to her voice, you're all free to disagree but :) i hope the NEW NW album has more songs on it like the 4 I think are annettes strongest songs :D
@thb9thb this is just wrong. Nightwish was always Tuomas Band, it consisted out of his writing, his ideas and his compositions. Tarja's voice was a trademark and an asset, it wAS Something special, but i wAS never the main attraction of the band. Nightwish would not be the same without tuomas, but with him in the band, basically, any bandmember is exchangeable, Annette is fine as she is, even if she cant sing the old songs, she can sing the songs tuomas writes for her,

I can barely understand how you can say they "still have a beautiful voice" because I can't hear it, however hard I try. Now the magic is just the broken, and Annette can't fix it, just as much as she can't sing like Tarja did, far from it.
a band that was consacrated and labeled symphonic/gothic metal can't just switch everything, it's another genre atm, they did lose like half they're active fanbase because of this....and no it's not nightwish anymore cause the songs don't give the same feeling. Believe me, more than anything else,Tarja's voice made the band big...not that i dont like marco's incredible voice, emppu's awesome soloes, or tuomas's song writting..but u discover those when ur already hooked up...thats my opinion

NW is still there with the same drummer, the same gitarrist, the same bass player and vocalist and most of all the same keyboarder and songwriter and still they have a beautiful, fantasy voice.The music is the same, wonderful, made for Anette`s voice, eg "The Poet and The Pendulum." A 100% Nightwish song! And they will always be..with Tuomas there to make them

I bought that album, listened at it and remained stunned with the fact that I couldn't find a bad song. Besides, Marco is great singer, I'd like he sings more. About the song; I don't know what you found bad here-Tuomas is great, Marco's bass sounds so dramatic as Tarja's voice and Emmpu's solo is pretty good.Jukka's drumming is perfectly harmonised with the bass guitar.
i love tarja, the new singer to me just is too much pop. its no longer the same type of metal. i mean theres a reason some of their old songs they cant sing, i mean the new girl cant pull the proper vocals to even make them work. i liked it operatic. i dont really like anything pop. too much focus on dress and bounce, iuno not what metal is to me even if nightwish was its own thing before anyway.

A very good band, but you might as well listen to WT, Sirenia, Evanescence, etc. Listen to any Tarja song, and compare it to the new ones. The difference is obvious. They're still among the best in the genre, but not THE BEST, the way they used to be.

@fiddlebender88 Their new CD is really good, I'd give it a try. Obviously, a different sound. Anette's voice sounds much better in this CD. I got Tarja's CD a few months ago, which sounds good as well.

don't get me wrong... i enjoy both singers... but Marco was the lead singer in "The Islander.."... i hardly even notice Anette's support vocals in that song. Escapist and Amaranth would be better examples for her work

Anyways, Dead to the World is a great song, one of the best of theirs.
It's a Miracle that Anette can put up with your complaining over Tarja. If i were her I would've quit and Nightwish would be over with.
@andreez1 oh god -.- I don't need to impress or persuade you. Do you think I care? Tarja was out of control and had to be dropped, Toumas was right in doing it. You might think it's unfair and mean but it's how it happened.
@LuFu1996 I think it wasn't a problem with Tarja or Sami... sounds like it's Tuomas who is the problem. Nevertheless, he is awesome, Nightwish is awesome, Tarja is awesome, and this song kicks some major fucking ass.

@fiddlebender88 Their new CD is really good, I'd give it a try. Obviously, a different sound. Anette's voice sounds much better in this CD. I got Tarja's CD a few months ago, which sounds good as well.

@jeppe2299 It's very hard to say which is best.... but it's very hard to not include the poet and the pendulum in whatever list one makes. I think's it's their upmost masterpiece.
love the song its GREAT just wondering has anyone else noticed she seems clearer more powerful and stand out in most of the live performances then the cds to me that is incredible

This to me was the golden age of Nightwish. Two of the best metal singers under the sun together.
