At this point of time, nokia already being boring phone company, they dont even change theme for one phone to another. This phone had no personality compared to the predecessor such as nokia n80 or even nokia 3650.
@@raka9220 I think the term "Phones" in this place mean between each phone companies. You can't expect Nokia to shapeshifting their phone on every single release, No? And beside, What we've got right now are basically a "Candy Bar" for phones after one another. If it weren't for branding or advertisinng, I can't really distinguished the different between something like Samsung, Xiomi, Vivo, Oppo, Mii or buttload of phones we've got on market nowaday.

But i understand, the time for experimenting over form factor and "personality" is over, nowadays manufacturer just gave us "blank" phone and customize it ourself.

As you noted, the design and materials still hold up, this was peak Symbian/ Nokia, which makes one wonder,. since @Nokia today has been updating some of it's classic 'basic' phones, surely they could look towards past gems like the N86 , the E7, N8, and others, in building their future flagships. At the very least ..bring that camera lens cover back!

I agree. I hate that we're at the design of the simple rectangular slab of glass. Folding phones are nice, but they're expensive. I miss the era of smartphones that weren't touch screen phones.
I LOVED my slide phone back in the day!!! I got it out yesterday when my current phone needed a replacement and I genuinely wish they still made sliders. FAR more satisfying and less cheap feeling than the flip style... Please keep making these. Seem to get a lot of love on this video.
I remember this phone fondly indeed. It was the last device I used before switching to a 3GS. The N86 was so fast and it felt quite ahead of it’s time really. Great camera, stereo speakers… A headphone jack? What? Pretty sure I had an 8GB card in mine but can’t remember now. Anyway, I loved that phone.
The Nokia N86 looks incredible indeed. I love it. Even though they are much smaller in size, they are the most durable phones I've ever seen. Even I also use a Nokia Asha 202 Phone and I bought it back 8 years ago, I can't believe my eyes it's STILL WORKING Perfectly. Much worth than all those iPhone 12 Pro Max and other stuff. @@ChrisTian-sd5yq Since this isn't a daily usable phone anymore, but rather a collector's item it doesn't matter much anymore. But in terms of spec the N96 has a slightly bigger screen and 16GB internal. But the N86 has an AMOLED screen, faster processor, better camera and better battery.
I had this device in dark colour. Refrained from clicking the video as I'd be upset of losing that device :D but couldn't resist the nostalgia. Bought this after selling 5800 XM for the camera. The metal bezel around the front used to lose it's dark colour. Used to have other Nseries themes installed on this device by pizero. The breathing light of the menu key was a pleasure seeing at night. In India, they included a leather holster in the box when I bought. Wished it had the swipe to navigate on the D-pad like the E72 in those days. Cheers for the video! :)
I had ever owned n95 2gb, n95 8gb, n82 and many more symbians phone. And still love them. Now I try to find this phone to become my secondary phone. Love you Symbian. Hope Nokia Will remake them with new features

I can still remember back in the days when I had that phone it was absolute blast! The very next year i.e 2010 during a trip to Nepal's capital Kathmandu, I lost that mobile at Pashupatinath temple 😅 Ita was priced around 24k ₹/ 600USD during its launch 2009.
These phones from Nokia represented the transition from standard keypad phones to the current smartphones. Later, the screens got bigger and they gained touch feature.
That hello on the box is now the hello on the start screen of iOS when upgrading to new iOS version. Hahaha. Looks like phones today are now repeating the history with few tweaks. Thanks to Nokia.
my parents had a nokia 6111, to me it was the coolest phone back in the day, i felt like i was living in the future, the sliding mechanism was so satisfaying, we used to call those sliders phones "soap phones" here in brazil cause they have the shape and slip like soap
My best Nokia smartphone. I had E70, N95, N85, but N86 was "the" phone. So nostalgic review. So, Nokia first implemented variable aperture, AOD, this was first all glass (front side of slider) phone. One of the my best and beloved Nokia\Symbian device! (for me only Nokia N8 can be compared with it profit in reallife)! I used Nokia N86 from late 2009 up to early 2011 year (replaced with Nokia N8 + iPhone 2G)
I miss the N series bad man. I had so many. Still my favorite smartphone series of all time. I had a black n81, n85, n86, ngage, ngage qd, n95, I mean so many. Way ahead of their time. If they were LTE, I would use one right now instead of my Ultra

Had the first hand experience with N95 8gb inherited from late brother, the sliding mechanic was huge trend back then, but after 3 years in my hand, the flexible cable gave up and at the time the spareparts were getting scarse for the model, so the replacement didn't hold up. I do still have the phone sitting in my drawer. After that i ferociously avoid phone with *any* moving parts. It was the phone which let my photography hobby took flight.

I still use N96 ,battery lasts 3 days,i was tired of all the apps and started using it 3 months ago.i complitely recomend it if only was new,but its 12 years old

I traded my iPod with my friend for this phone in 2011. Big win for me. 😂 And I just remember the camera on this iPhone at the time was insanely good for its price. I had a iPhone4 as well. The photo quality was just as good. Believe it or not, I still keep a lot of the photos that were taken by this phone till this day! I grew up during the Nokia era, I just remembered how badly I wanted a N85, but couldn’t afford it lol. Man… I miss those days.

The switch from standard TFT displays to Amoled though. It was like man discovering fire compared to man walking on the moon. Colors we're popping.

I think at 3 years, any phone with moving parts will struggle. But they were still built incredibly well for their time
