The Counterparts tour is probably in my top 3 Rush tours. It just hit everything perfectly and had one of the best set lists. Cold Fire is definitely one of their more underrated songs.
I was at one of those two shows; there was a few days' break between them because they were being inducted into some Canadian Hall Of Fame at that year's Junos. The show was incredible, especially Animate, The Analog Kid and the opening section of Hemispheres.
counterparts was a great record; i wore the tape out i played it so much back in the day. Leave that thing alone also is a cool song along with Animate.
Counterparts is one of favourite Rush albums. The whole album is about relationships the Rush way. I see this song as one about a marriage break up. Pawning her wedding ring. Love has gone from hot to cold. I love Rush's version of a "country song'. Cheers 🇨🇦
Definitely a different turn for Rush. Neil exploring the complexities of relationships. The rest of the Counrtparts album is more of what you’d expect from Rush and definitely worth a listen.
Great! Me gustó mucho la canción y me parece muy interesante la letra (busqué una traducción), se podría decir mucho. Una única acotación, el frío quema tanto como el fuego, cuidado! Thanks Glenn and Adrian! Muy bien Rush!
It's a love song, but it's a very Neil Peart love song. If you've read Geddy's book "My Effin' Life", you know that all 3 of the guys had experienced significant strain on their marriages by this point due to their being away recording and touring, and the lyrics here are definitely pointing to a darker outcome of that strain.
This is one of the more memorable songs from Counterparts, and one of Neil's more introspective lyrics. I like it that he felt able to write about more mature subjects, although I don't know if all of his audience was ready to take that leap. I think Counterparts was quite a bland album, but there were a handful of standout tracks. But Rush had given up on the UK at this point, and the lack of a tour meant there was no overriding urgency to go out and buy the latest album.

Now that their work is done, I think it's nice that they have this in their catalog.
Nobody's Hero off of this album is great.
You do know this a Bootleg right?
