A very King Crimson influenced band, moving in quite different directions now. You should check their previous album, Cavalcade, because everyone loves ascending fourths.
‘february 31st’ is a reference to how the band trolled their fans by saying they would release new music on february 31st and many people fell for it (i think)
I think you'd really dig Cavalcade. It has the same intesity and unrest, but is a little more subdued in nature, featuring more whisper vocals, slow builds, and beutiful instrumenation
A band that was also pretty popular in the online music scene around a similar time and also had black in their name was Black Country, New Road. I would highly suggest checking out either of their albums. Starting from For the First Time is recommended though!
Review Squids, Bright Green Field! My absolute favorite newer band. They got a post punk kinda vibe, they remind me of XTC, Gang of Four and Talking Heads alot.
Agreed, Bright Green Field is a great album. Squid are cut from a similar cloth to Black Midi but more post punk. And then you go down that rabbit hole of PIL, Wire and Gang of Four. Metal Box, Chairs Missing and Entertainment! are all essential records.
I love your vids!!! If you liked this vibe I can recommend California by Mr. Bungle, classic weird metal record that goes through a lot of genres in one, very eclectic and raw like this record.
Unrelated suggestion but you might enjoy The Avalanches - since i left you, the album is completely made out of samples and its said to have 3000+ samples, it's considered a classic of the plunderphonics genre
fuck yes You're very close on first listens to grasping the story behind some of the songs. All songs kind of paint a picture of someone condemned to hell and yes the captain in eat men eat is poisoning the miners and harvesting their stomachs to make Rennies Red Wine lmao. The thing about black midi, is on first listens it can seem like an overwhelming noise of edgy virtuosity - but IF they can manage to click properly, they click hard. There are lots of beautiful, lush serene moments throughout their albums (especially on Hellfire and Cavalcade) and their drummer is an absolute GOAT. Their song Marlene Dietrich is the song that made me like them, about a year after I first heard them and just thought it was whack I came to love Marlene Dietrich and now theyre one of my top artists for sure.
Great album. Great band. I prefer their previous album, "Cavalcade." You really should check out their classmates, Black Country, New Road's album "Ants from up There." I consider it to be the best album from 2022. It is amazing.
Watching you interpret his lyrics makes me believe you'd really enjoy a literary degree of some sort. Or just really getting into critical literary theory with RUclips videos.
The pace and taste of this channel is impressive. Always stoked to watch your content.
Thank You !

Especially when Marcus does it (in the heart of the common man)

Highly recommend their other albums. They all have the chaotic nature but delve into different genres in different ways
I'm loving the variety here. And the TASTE! *chefs kiss*
This album is a modern masterpiece imo. These guys are such fantastic musicians.

where did you get Freedy Fazbear from 27 Questions lmao??? Freddie Frost is the name in the song
Btw, they are a prog(now called art rock in today's terms)band and they are inspired by King Crimson and they also covered 21st century schizoid man!
the face he pulled when cam said the thing was golden
I recommend listening to The Sylvie & Babs Hi-Fi Companion by NWW. It'll really throw you for a loop

Cavalcade for the next black midi
I recommend listening to Alex G's album Beach Music !!
You should review Prequelle by Ghost. Great album
By god if you don't do the Swans trilogy "The Seer", "To Be Kind" and "The Glowing Man", Swans are an amazing band and make amazing albums.
Defintelly. I feel like he'd like The Glowing Man the best of the three
Swans are amazing, he should also do The Beggar!
Great album. Great band. I prefer their previous album, "Cavalcade." You really should check out their classmates, Black Country, New Road's album "Ants from up There." I consider it to be the best album from 2022. It is amazing.
whaaat, hyyyype!!!
Very nice video like always ❤ i enjoyed every second
You need to listen to the other two albums by the band
Also listen to black country new road
I think “The Polar Express but in Hell” might be the best summary of this album ever.
Freddie Fazbear 😭
A rush of blood to the head - Coldplay would be cool to watch
Imagine listening to this album on acid
Watching you interpret his lyrics makes me believe you'd really enjoy a literary degree of some sort. Or just really getting into critical literary theory with RUclips videos.
you have got to listen to black country, new road 'ants from up there' its such a gut wrenching album and i love it and i think you might like it
if you want some more great albums from last year then you gotta listen to Ants from up there by Black country, new road
Man, you definitely have to check “Hypochondriac” by Brakence and “Ants from up there” by black country, new road. Two of The best albums of 2022
