      DNA can only potentially be useful if there is something to match it to. If you don't have a fingerprint or DNA sample in the offender profiles, the new fingerprint or DNA is just that, a new sample. You can't actually find an identity just testing a DNA sample, you have to compare it to another sample from that person in order to show the match of the base pairs. If they had a theory of who it could be and were unable to get a confirmation sample from that person, they could get a sample from a family member of the suspect in order to test for familial DNA. I think that is how the police ended up getting the BTK killer, with a familial DNA sample from his daughter.
      It's extremely stupid and foolish to leave so much evidence at a crime scene, as you are now in the system and you only need to commit a petty crime for your fingerprints to be taken and matched to the samples from your previous heinous crime.

      @@excentrik5725 Two most plausible scenarios in this case:
      1. Ward, the man downstairs, attacked, assaulted, and killed Robert Wone. As they heard the noise, Price and Zaborsky genuinely came down to help and called the police, but have meanwhile discovered that it was Ward who did it. Acting in minutes, they decided to cover-up for Ward. Wone was already gone, so they decided to ''help'' Ward escape justice. They cleaned the scene, and alligned their testimonies.
      2. An even more sinister version in which all three men were either the assailants or accomplices. They either deliberately manipulated Wone into staying there for the night, or perhaps one of them started fancying him on sight. Price is the likely suspect in the former, while Zaborsky or Ward in the latter, as only one of them knew him beforehand. As he came, things escalated into s**ual assault and murder. Every step, from calling the police to cleaning the room was pre-meditated and done in clod blood.
      In either case, I have a hunch that these three might be criminals. But I wouldn't claim it, as there's no actual evidence.

    What strikes me about the Miyazawa case is how long the killer spent inside the home after the murders. Similar behavior to the Golden State Killer in the U.S. He would spend hours in the home afterwards, eating the victim’s food, and rummaging through the victim’s belongings. And his crimes were premeditated weeks in advance. To me, the Miyazawa case could be something similar. I don’t think it was a random act of violence. I believe it was planned, and perhaps by a serial killer.

    I still go to Japanese websites every so often to see if there is any updates from the police regarding the first case. Long story short, evidences released throughout the years kind of point to the killer being someone that the family knew, someone that has been invited into the house before, not a complete stranger. Also, police said that they are not looking for someone with military experience or a professional killer, and it makes sense if you think about it: the knife the killer brought with him was a very poor choice for stabbing. In fact, not only did the knife broke in the first attack, it even injured the killer. There are also criticism that they focused too much on the DNA/foreigner so early on, just because that DNA sequence is not common in Japanese doesn't mean the killer must not be a Japanese... Unfortunately since the police and news were all saying the killer was likely a foreigner and thus most people would assume not Japanese-looking, potential eye witnesses might not even realized that they have seen something.

    • @uaintseememaaan8901
      @uaintseememaaan8901 Год назад +4

      I like your thinking, and most of what you’re saying sounds plausible(possible). I check on this family’s case from time to time, too, because it was just so strange that this person spent so much time in their house. It’s like he already knew how many people were in the house and once he killed them all, he felt comfortable enough to relax. That’s the part that bothers me. Some people say that he was a homeless man who wanted a quick meal, some cash and some new clothes but a homeless person wouldn’t leave their clothes behind like that. Some also say that the guy was a “foreigner” and this stuff about “sand”. The sand could have come from anywhere. This guy left so much evidence in their house. I’m trying to find a good motive for someone to kill all of these people and why the police hasn’t arrested anyone yet and it seems like the only trouble they were having were with the teens. I live in Tokyo and have seen teenagers get away with a lot of crime here because they’re not adults yet, and these teens know they won’t be punished like an adult would so they do a lot of stupid and scary stuff. I really feel like more than 1 person did this.

    • @inorikanata503
      @inorikanata503 Год назад +6

      @@uaintseememaaan8901 I agree with you that this is not a random homeless man or a robbery gone wrong. Per Japanese Wikipedia, in 2009, police reported that they found the killer's DNA in the slippers at the victim's house. Since at the night of the incident, the killer didn't wear the slippers, so ya I believe it's someone that has been in the house before.
      Ya this case is fascinating because there are so many freaking evidence left behind in the house. I am leaning towards the killing was done by one person, mainly because I haven't seen any evidence pointing to a 2nd killer, but someone could certainly have helped the killer by buying the knife for him, hiding him after the murder, etc.

    as much as I can understand Alicia's mother's pain, I don't think the right way to educate your child about the dangers of Internet is to own their passwords and monitor everything they do. Acting like this just proves to your child that you don't trust them and overprotection can backfire in the future when the parent is not around anymore/has no right to control their offspring's action anymore because the kid will not be able to act on his own since judgement has not developed. The right thing to do is explaining to your child that no matter what, even though the person you might be getting to know behind the screen of your phone might try anything possible to prove to you their identity and get you to lower your defenses, always be skeptical and avoid establishing physical contact/meetups in person. If they really enjoy your company, they will be just fine to keep chatting with you online and eventually, this time with your parent's permission and even their company, you might consider to meet the person in a PUBLIC place, such as a café or any place where people are around in case you feel threatened/unsettled. If the person is any good, they will not refuse to arrange this way. I had helicopter parents and it was a suffocating experience, not to mention I had to figure out many things on my own since they would act on my behalf without explaining anything most of the time. So please parents, protect your children by any means, but also allow them to understand what is happening around them and how to behave on their own.

    I agree that this FactFiction presents these cases well; I only knew of the first case in Tokyo but this presentation had better information since a short summary I last saw months ago. What makes FF so much better are the maps/tracks/locations to the last areas the victims were last seen -- they made/make the case clearer, easier to follow.
    I remember the Poland case also; did not know the victim walked miles and miles to get to her apartment complex or that her mother/same flat with her, and the friend were all living in the same complex, so close to one another. The visual overview was so clear.
    The story of the Koean man was unbelievable -- that the case isn't solved, with a few guys in the same house with their suspicious story and not much follow-up taking place. Shouldn't that case have been easily pursued with all the evidence left behind?

    My only theory I had with the murder of the Setagaya family was that they were all attacked and murdered by a mentally unstable homeless person. The culprit was properly hungry and why would anyone just eat, drink, than sleep in someone’s home almost immediately after killing two adults and two children? And the only thing stolen was money.

    • @jarrodjunior1792
      @jarrodjunior1792 Год назад +23

      I think it was a targeted attack. Why kill little children who most likely won't be able to identify you or might not have been aware. They had two houses side by side and the one with the family who had an argument was chosen that's suspicious

      That's a pretty good theory considering that there are no others I feel like it might have been more of an inside job but I really don't know but why wouldn't he have taken more money though why didn't he take the rest of it?

      I would like to know the area around the their neighborhood. Is it downtown or known to have homeless people in the area? Was that common or was it a suburb not close to downtown and if someone were a to see a homeless person walking thru the neighborhood would that stand out or not!

    In the drive way video of the case of Elaine, you can clearly see two shadows running up against the garage door behind the black car (her car) the video could have been edited which explains the issues with the other video having the wrong time stamp. This makes it more plausible that they had a fight, she decides to leave, and then someone went after her. Or they jumped in the car with her. But the shadows are extremely well marked on that garage door running after she has walked by there and her shadow actually moves at her speed clearly visible in the same form as the 2 other shadows that move faster afterwards.

    4:58 The thing they don't mention is that the reason they came to the conclusion that he was half-white is because the mother's haplogroup was European in origin.....but this haplogroup is also common in Korea, with 1 in 4 people having it. So, given all the other evidence it's more likely that he was just Korean, and not mixed.

    Elaine was like a flower growing through concrete, living with a hateful mother like that but still being a vibrant, creative, happy person. Wish she had stayed at the boyfriends house longer and hadn’t left, she might never have gone missing. Her mother is absurdly sketchy. Scary, in fact.
    Had to edit this after she kept talking about Div. Sorry but almost no one that follows this case thinks he’s involved. There is nothing that points towards him as being suspicious. It’s pretty obvious she fell asleep at his place when she wasn’t supposed to, and woke up panicking because she was afraid of facing her mother when she got home. Everything points towards that “mom”.

    In Ivana's case, that man in the footage is no.1 suspect for me. He's not just walking down the road. He is definitely following her, his eyes are fixed on her not on the road ahead. Just as the clip stops, you see him begin to change direction, from walking straight down the road, to starting to move over to the side Ivana is following. That footage in the club of a man circled? Is that the same man as in the last footage? If it is, I would guess he saw Ivana leaving the club alone and decided to follow her.
