I had heard that Chemical Plant was originally the first two acts of Death Egg Zone but were deemed too easy for final stage levels and were thus relocated as its own zone.
Dang, that's like a total opposite of what happened with Labyrinth Zone xD

I was 19 when this came out and boy was i stoked for it and it didn’t disappoint, every time i hear emerald hill zones music it takes me back to those great days

Hi, Sonic nerd here. Yes, yes they can. Not only are there tons of games where Sonic and friends hang around on the outside of space stations without any direct confirmation of life support systems or what have you... But also, Super Sonic has been far outside the planet's atmosphere plenty of times, despite the fact he CANNOT breathe underwater. Despite his invincibility, Super Sonic still needs to breathe, yet it never seems to be an issue when fighting anything from Eggman near the Death Egg's orbit, to the Nega Mother Wisp far outside the influence of Eggman's space amusement park in Colors.
Hi fellow Sonic nerd! 😁 I suppose that's a natural part of Mobian biology. I understand its just for gameplay purposes and doesn't need to be fully explained in universe.
Always found it funny in Sonic X when Chris had to wear a space suit and everyone else was just walking around like normal 😂

This video right here is Way Past Cool! I’m gonna turn into the nerd that I am and gush about Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
My favorite video game ever, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is a big part of my life growing up as a gamer and it made me the Sonic fan that I am today. The speed, level design, art, music, & everything else is just done so well. This is a prime example of a video game sequel done right! It’s a tradition to play and beat Sonic 2 every November 24.
This games development is also incredibly fascinating to me I spent so many hours and hours researching and playing prototypes, betas, & fan recreations. It’s the most time I ever spent researching a video game, it’s a fun topic talking about whenever Sonic 2 is brought up.
I absolutely love the pacing of this game, it’s fast and fun, a great game to pick up and play just blasting through the levels. The level design is so good, pretty amazing that this was the same level designer from sonic 1 since they’re so different. The art is also really great, the levels are so much more memorable than Sonic 1’s to me & I love how unique the levels are including the scrapped levels. The music is just fun to listen to, Masato Nakamura did wonderful here. I really like how expansive the levels are in this game, the multiple paths make the game way more replay able & there’s secrets that I didn’t even know for years! Like that one shortcut in act 2 of chemical plant that skips all of the megamack. The 2 player is a nice inclusion too, I spent a lot of time playing with my cousins and just having fun, for the Sega Genesis hardware it’s really impressive! The bond of Sonic & Tails is done right in this game and I love the normal ending. One last thing, the Greg Martin art is just so amazing, it’s iconic for a reason and any merch that has it i immediately get it.
That was a lot to unpack but this video just kept the memories rolling back and your presentation is done so well like the other videos. It’s really nice to hear people go in depth into my favorite video game & you did a wonderful job buddy! :)

Such good memories I have while I played this game back the day. The yelling at Tails for making me loose rings while in the special zone made me chuckle. Me and my little sis would play the game on split screen mode, or just whenever I would feel in the mode to play Id beat the game over again. The music in this game was always good to play to. I still listen to all the zone music to this day. The sound effects so satisfying. Another great sonic video Robotnik and watching this was really special so thanks!

The Time Travel concept was decided to just be on Sonic CD and not Sonic 2 mid way through
51:45 The Act 2 songs in Sonic 2 HD were actually remixed by Toni Leys, if I'm not mistaken Tee Lopes didn't make new remixes for the project for over a decade now and at the time it didn't feature Act 2 variations.
Ah, thank you for the correction! I ought to have checked the credits more thoroughly for that one instead of assuming Tee Lopes returned for the Act 2 remixes. 😅

The game was too difficult for me but Tails is just too adorable... so much I named a cat after him!
Tails is still my favorite character to this day.

17:50 - Technically, the spike damage glitch from the first game only happened in the North American version, which was rushed out to market. The Japanese version, which came out later, had already fixed it.

Amazing attention to the small things. I never knew tails’ hitbox was smaller. And as many times as I’ve played through the game, and even recently challenging my kids to beat it (without rewinds on the switch) I never noticed the difference of a rocket strapped to the tornado when tails returns to save Sonic

15:44 If Sonic has Tails accompanying him, Tails does have the ability to fly and carry Sonic.
He certainly can in the later ports! I was referring to the original release. 🙂 Though that does remind me to use original game footage when referring to things that get fixed later!
