Cally this is one of the best instruction vids on heater channel removal I've seen. I've done two myself and wish I had this instruction on the first one.
I must say -- you do make it look so easy --- Thank you for telling us what one may encounter in replacing them and how to go about doing this job ------- Rodney
Thanks for the detail and explanation. I am in the same boat RIGHT now. I have created seven new swear words and manufactured an entire rig that is made of zip ties, duct tape and old tshirts. No, really THANKs, great vid.
That use of the bottom plate and bolt on that like the heater channel . The front firewall. Etc. Is a tip I needed. I just bought a “previous” project where the bottom sections are already cut out. But with that tip I can confidently now start.
Hola amigo Calahan, saludos desde México, ese trabajo que realizas a este Vochito es tremendo, muchas gracias por compartir este conocimiento, tengo uno 1966 y ya compré pisos y largueros acá nadie sabe hacer este trabajo correctamente
We're doing an electric conversion of a Beetle and thinking about sending the high voltage cables through the heater channels, as we don't need them for heat. I was trying to see in the video, but I'm still uncertain: are there any obstructions inside the heater "pipe"? Like pieces of metal welded in for better airflow that could damage the cables? We will of course use conduit around the cable. Would it be easy to run the wires through?
Dude, thanks for this. Someday I gotta do all this but been putting it off for years because I didn't know how to go about it and my mig welding so far has been bad but slowly improving. Wonder how many half inch drills I am gonna break, probably gonna buy a whole box of them!
question for the B pillar patch, did you use a lap joint with a stitch weld or a butt joint? wasnt too sure which one you did on that one. also, if you did a lap joint, how did you manage to keep the metal looking stock without having put a step in the bottom of the pillar?
again, nice informative video but I have a question. When I started this I didn't think to brace the car and it's been sitting off body for about 10 yrs now. How do I get the body back aligned?
I discuss this briefly in the part 1 video. In short if you can get the doors back into alignment that will get you headed in the right direction. Use a porta-power, winch, brute force, whatever it takes to get the body back into shape then get your bracing in.
I really appreciate the in-depth coverage you provide, as well as things one might expect. This series is awesome!
Have to tell you, I've never seen such fastidious, exacting and outstanding thinking and work in my life. Hat's off to you good Sir!!! Kevin Hambsch

Amazing work! However, why is the headliner still in the car, while you are welding and grinding? Is it supposed to be replaced at a later point?
love the music

Bill, did you make the rotisserie or did you buy it? Can you help me on that? Where you bought it? How to make it! Thank you!
I built it. I have another video about it.
One plus of the stale air heater boxes in the early VW's is like fogging oil..... rust prevention 🥴
Can I Hire you to do my 59? Needs some a piller repair, pans, and heater channel. 🤓
Hi, do you have a build video of the rotisserie or is one you bought?
I have a video of the rotisserie talking about how I built it.
08:13 video starts here.
Hi there
Alex from LA how bad heater Channel should be to replace them?
👍
damn nooone explains it that good!
Sorry, I meant Callahan!
Nice
The after market ones from Denmark ARE TERRIBLE and don’t come anywhere close to ones for an oval
Too bad a dry ice blasting system is so expensive. Those wheel wells would be down to clean paint in 10 minutes each.
Now do you understand why your heater doesn't work? Rat family Robinson be livin in there now.
